The Corruption Dragon God: Lust System Chapter 714 - Delicate things break easily
Previously on The Corruption Dragon God: Lust System...
There will be an additional chapter of CDG over the next two days as compensation for the day I missed posting.
While I considered releasing five chapters of CDG today, three chapters spread across three days achieve the same outcome and are considerably better for my sleep schedule, ha!
Enjoy, and thank you immensely for your readership!
"So, brother-in-law, what's been happening with you?" Bai Hu Lie inquired. "Your human scent has nearly vanished, and the draconic scent is significantly more potent than before."
He inhaled the air again, his nostrils flaring as a delighted grin stretched across his wild face, confirming the sensations his senses relayed.
For a human, discerning such a subtle shift would be almost impossible. But for a beast like Bai Hu Lie?
Scent played a crucial role in their ability to distinguish allies from adversaries and to recognize one another.
Despite their more refined demeanor compared to their purely animalistic kin, this remained a vital element of their societal interactions. Each member could detect others from hundreds of meters away, relying solely on their olfactory sense.
There was no doubt that the draconic blood scent permeating Qingyi was far more pronounced now.
And the increase in Qingyi's strength meant his upcoming tournament battle would be even more rewarding.
"I've stumbled upon a minor revelation recently, Brother Bai Hu Lie," Qingyi replied, giving a slight nod and a smile.
Having numerous wives from the beastfolk tribes, he wasn't surprised by Bai Hu Lie's keen observation.
His own sense of smell had indeed sharpened considerably, yet he hadn't yet mastered identifying individuals solely by their scent.
He could recognize his wives, certainly, but only due to their constant proximity, their unique fragrances permanently etched into his awareness.
It wasn't a particularly practical skill, however.
Even the beastfolk honed this ability more as a nod to tradition than out of practical need.
Qi senses, at a sufficiently high level, remained vastly more effective.
"A minor revelation, you say?" Bai Hu Lie's eyes narrowed, sparkling with intrigue.
"Well, never mind that. Those scoundrels from the central region must be under the delusion that they'll easily conquer this tournament. I eagerly anticipate wiping those smug grins off their faces as I tear out their hearts with my claws!"
"Oh... so they really are that feeble, brother-in-law?" Qingyi asked, a smile playing on his lips.
Bai Hu Lie paused mid-motion, absorbing the implication of Qingyi's words.
The moment he grasped the subtle taunt, indignation flared across his features, prompting Qingyi to erupt in laughter.
"Feeble? You..." Bai Hu Lie crossed his arms, his chin lifting with haughty defiance. "You're fortunate this venerable one is in a pleasant mood! Otherwise, you'd suffer the same fate destined for them!"
Qingyi merely offered a slight shake of his head, amusement still evident on his face. "Shouldn't we pay a visit to your father and sister? It would be a true pity to meet such a grim end without first laying eyes on my potential future wives."
Bai Hu Lie nodded in agreement.
"Indeed, my father desperately desires some grandchildren. With only my sister and I remaining, and contemplating my disinterest in marrying a woman unable to at least hold her own in a spar against me, the responsibility of producing those little heirs now rests solely upon your shoulders, brother-in-law."
"Ah... it appears you'll need to seek your wife in the central region then. I highly doubt you'll find a woman fitting that description around here," Qingyi remarked, the image of Chen Wei's mother flashing through his mind.
If he were to elevate her lineage and constitution to the divine level—mirroring Bai Hu Lie's own prestigious lineage—she might just appeal to the tiger's preferences, wouldn't she?
He seriously doubted any woman not built like that 150-kilogram specimen of pure muscle would capture his brother-in-law's attention.
After a brief moment of contemplation, he chuckled at his own absurdity.
That notion was quite foolish.
Bai Hu Lie would likely possess no interest in a woman who wasn't a beast herself.
"Perhaps there is someone of worth in the central region… yes…" Bai Hu Lie mused, scratching his beastly chin as Qingyi's suggestion seemed to plant a thought in his mind. His eyes gleamed with newfound possibility.
"Very well, I shall journey to the central region the moment this infernal tournament concludes! My wife could only hail from such a distinguished place, hahaha!" The tiger bellowed with laughter, striking his chest with a resounding thud.
"Come along, my sister is undoubtedly eager to meet you." He gestured for Qingyi to accompany him.
"Honestly, I can't fathom why she fancies such delicate humans. You ought to introduce yourself to her in your beast form, your true form! Only then might she comprehend the genuine power inherent in our superior form."
"Women are indeed fragile beings, brother-in-law," Qingyi replied with a smile.
The fact that Bai Hu Lie was aware Qingyi possessed a complete draconic form did not seem to strike him as particularly unusual.
While dragons often assume human guise, their fundamental nature remains that of four-legged, winged creatures.
It would be rather peculiar if Qingyi lacked a true, beastly form.
"Ah… delicate things tend to shatter easily. My sister, she herself doesn't break, but if you're not cautious, I can assure you she'll break *you*! Hahahaha!" Bai Hu Lie guffawed, rubbing a small bump on his forehead.
This bump was the lingering mark from a rather forceful punch delivered by his sister approximately two weeks prior.
It had taken him a full two days to recuperate, and even then, the spot retained a faint, persistent ache.
Qingyi merely offered a faint smile in response.
The more details Qingyi learned about Bai Hu Lie's sister, the more his curiosity about her intensified.
He harbored a hope that she possessed favorable traits, with the 'faithful' trait being a non-negotiable prerequisite for her to become his consort.
Frankly, he felt quite confident in her possession of this trait.
After all, the 'faithful' trait appeared to be intricately connected to a cultivator's inherent abilities, their origin, and their overall value.
Even the caliber of one's bloodline seemed to play a role in its manifestation.
Among ordinary mortal women, the occurrence of this trait was a mere two percent. However, for women possessing a lineage of at least Eternal Grade, this 'faithful' trait appeared in over forty percent of cases.
Qingyi wasn't entirely certain, but observing that high-ranking male cultivators were less inclined towards maintaining harems than affluent mortal men, he surmised that men might also exhibit this trait in a similar proportion.
