Qingyi confronted the leader of Tianhao's henchmen over their forbidden demonic technique. He unleashed the Heaven-Shattering Divine Slash, countered by their formation, but disrupted it with Biyue's poisoned needles. After the slash narrowly missed, he vanished and brutally slaughtered the others with raw force, then captured the leader and began torturing him limb by limb to uncover the technique's origin.

"Oh... so you're finally ready to speak?" Qingyi inquired, delivering a gentle pat on the man's shoulder.

"Y-yes, p-please, just... just kill me, let me rest." The henchman begged in utter desperation.

For some time, he'd been crying out for his mother, pleading for a swift end. At last, he had surrendered completely.

Every detail would spill from his lips. Every single secret.

"Alright, begin by revealing who bestowed this cursed demonic training upon you. Provide solid intel, and I swear I'll grant you a merciful death."

With tears streaming from his eyes, the henchman nodded, his mouth opening to speak.

In the instant that followed, he went rigid.

Qingyi also stiffened, eyes flaring wide as he instinctively vaulted backward.

A streak of light sliced through the atmosphere with ridiculous velocity, beyond even his dragon-like vision to track.

The strike's collision rang out harshly, jerking the henchman's head aside—he perished silently, without a whisper.

Gradually, Qingyi pivoted his head.

His features grew steely while his grip clenched the talisman that could slay celestial emperors.

From the emptiness mere meters ahead, a silhouette materialized, hovering inches off the earth.

This was a man with refined features. Slim shoulders, lithe frame, piercing and keen eyes.

Fondling his lengthy, slender beard, he fixed his stare on Qingyi, a serene demeanor masking dire intentions.

Recognizing the robes on that figure, Qingyi instantly identified him.

Li Tianfa. Head of the Celestial Law Pavilion, among the sect's ten stellar sovereigns.

Though ranked lowest among them, he remained a stellar sovereign deserving reverence, and rumors in the sect spoke of his tight bond with Tianhao.

Hostility burned in Qingyi's glare toward him.

It wouldn't have bothered him if Tianfa had simply slain the wretched henchman.

The issue lay in the strike targeting them both simultaneously.

Tianfa sought to eliminate Qingyi and the snitch together. A vile, treacherous viper.

The Celestial Law Pavilion's leader eyed him briefly, murder flashing in his gaze before it faded, supplanted by a fake amiable grin utterly lacking warmth. Five additional elders materialized at his side, prompting Tianfa to finally rein in his facade.

"Oh... it seems this valiant young master has already eradicated these foul demonic cultivators..." Tianfa wore that same phony smile.

In truth, he'd trailed here only because the elders sipping tea with him detected the demonic Qi and hurried this way.

A hassle, yet he had no choice.

Rising to his feet, Qingyi offered a bow.

"Greetings, elders. Apologies for the disturbance I've caused." He cupped his fists in proper respect.

Peng Tao, lingering behind, needed several moments to grasp the scene, scrambling up to bow hastily too.

"No need to fret over such minor matters, young one." An elder advanced, scrutinizing Qingyi closely to ensure

no grave wounds afflicted him.

"Protecting the disciples falls to us, after all. Now, explain—what transpired? Why did they target you?"

"I can't say what grudge they held against me, Elder." Qingyi chose to withhold Tianhao's name.

That icy gaze from Tianfa persisted, and Qingyi was certain the scum shared far too intimate a tie with Tianhao to risk speaking out now.

"I got a message saying they'd seized my companion and would execute him unless I showed up promptly. Upon arrival, they sprang their trap right away."

Those statements earned Qingyi an approving nod from Tianfa.

"Hm... Understood." The elder exhaled, kneeling by a downed disciple to probe his Qi.

Demonic Qi tainted the dantian, indisputably. Sharing grave looks with the other elders, he released a

heavy sigh.

"Master Tianfa, these corpses demand inspection to trace this demonic Qi's source. Our sect must purge such filth!" Turning to Tianfa, the elder saw him affirm with a nod.

"Yes, rest assured." The Celestial Law Pavilion leader flicked his fingers, summoning twenty black-armored elites behind him moments later.

The Supreme Law Squad. His pavilion's elite force.

"The Celestial Law Pavilion handles everything. No room for these damned demons in our sect."

Directing his men to gather the bodies, Tianfa left without sparing another look at anyone.

Before long, the elder's attention shifted to Qingyi.

A mild-mannered fellow, he looked around forty, perhaps fifty at

most years old, but his true lifespan defied mortal reckoning.

"Young man." He seized Qingyi's shoulders with a strong grip. "Long Qingyi, isn't it? Elder Shen has told me much about you, hahaha!" The elder

chuckled loudly, brimming with sincere friendliness.

"Well, if an incident like this strikes again, reach out to the Celestial Law

Pavilion. Had they taken charge, we could've nabbed one of those

swine and wrung out every vital detail.

The pavilion embodies justice for the evil and mercy for the righteous; place your trust in them."

"I'll remember these words, Elder." Qingyi lowered his head respectfully, his tone laced with deep veneration.

His inner thoughts told a vastly different story.

'Punishment for the wicked and forgiveness for the good, what nonsense. These rotten scoundrels would put Earth's typical politicians to shame with their sheer corruption.'

"Good." The elder grinned. "Head back to the dorms alongside your

companion; we'll handle everything else. Lord Tianfa will track down the

guilty party." Qingyi stayed silent, simply nodding before leading Peng Tao away.

Once they were a safe distance from the combat area, Peng Tao's burning curiosity finally eclipsed the faint dread he harbored

for Qingyi.

"Why hold back and not reveal it was Tianhao behind those thugs, or that the Celestial Law Pavilion's head tried to slay you?" "Because it's not the moment to clash with a powerhouse like that.

Tianfa might've ended me before I could utter a word

right there." Qingyi answered, gaze fixed straight on the road forward. "I'll bide my time for now."

Peng Tao gazed at him with a conflicted look and said nothing.

What exactly did Qingyi intend with "I'll bide my time"?

Could he truly think he had any shot against a Stellar Sovereign?
