The Conquerors Path Chapter 2: New Start
Previously on The Conquerors Path...
The "boy" suddenly burst into tears upon hearing the words he had dreaded his entire life.
‘...So, I really passed away.’
‘How can this be? The last thing I recall is stepping out of my dorm to grab groceries, and then... wait, everything after that is a complete blank.’
Monitoring the host's internal monologue, the system provided an answer.
[Host perished after returning from shopping. You were caught in the crossfire of a shooting and struck by a bullet. Those specific memories were purged to prevent the host from suffering psychological trauma!]
The "boy" wept even harder after listening to the explanation from his so-called system.
‘Did I truly die without achieving anything? I never got to repay the love and support my parents gave me. What about my dreams?’
[Warning... Warning...]
[Host's mental state is collapsing...]
[Initiating emergency cooldown protocols.]
A sudden chilling sensation washed over the "boy," causing his dark, spiraling thoughts to gradually subside.
[Host, though your previous life has ended, you now have the opportunity to rewrite your destiny. Please remain calm and take deep breaths.]
As his sanity returned, the haze in his eyes began to clear, replaced by a newfound focus.
Attempting to stand while breathing deeply, the boy failed miserably and tumbled back down.
Sprawled across the carpet, the "boy" whispered a question.
“So, how are things back home? Is everyone okay... a-ar-are my parents alright?”
[The host's parents are safe. They attended your funeral and did fall into a state of depression, but they will eventually recover.]
The boy let out a heavy sigh upon hearing the system's report. “Just leave me alone for a bit so I can think.”
The system went silent, respecting the host's request after analyzing his mental condition.
Closing his eyes, the boy began to reminisce about his past, his life, and his family—every moment of his twenty-two years of existence.
A half-hour slipped by in this manner. When he finally opened his eyes, they reflected a complex mix of emotions; while he hadn't forgotten his past, he was now ready to move toward the future.
“Hey system, I'm ready now. Can you explain why I'm unable to move?”
Having finally heard the prompt it was waiting for, the system replied.
[Yes, host, we may begin! Currently, the host's soul is being linked to this body. Because of a mismatch between your soul and the physical vessel, integration will take some time.]
[However, do not fret. I can accelerate the process by delivering a shock to your current body.]
The "boy" smiled at the first part of the system's message, but his expression soured as he heard the rest.
“How long would the natural process take?”
[Approximately 1 to 2 months.]
‘So you're basically saying I have no choice but to take the shock? How is that even a real option?’
Inhaling deeply to suppress his mounting frustration, the boy answered, “Fine, go ahead with the shocks.”
[Commencing immediately, host. You should brace yourself for the incoming shock in 3... 2... 1!]
Suddenly, the boy's body began to convulse like a fish pulled from the water. The twitching lasted for roughly twenty seconds before his body finally stilled.
‘Argh... damn it. Hey system, why don't you show yourself so I can properly "thank" you?’
[There is no need, host. I am an eternal entity beyond your reach.]
Muttering under his breath, the "boy" pushed himself off the floor and surveyed his surroundings.
‘Judging by the room and the furniture, it looks like this boy comes from a very wealthy family.’
“Hey system, tell me where I am and who I've become.”
[The host should take a seat before I begin the briefing.]
The "boy" sat on the edge of the bed, prepared to learn about his new identity.
[The host is currently within the world of "Ether" from the story "Arizinons Sense".]
Upon hearing the system's words, the "boy" bolted upright from the bed in absolute shock.
