Su Changfeng confronts his mother, Ji Hong, about his past mistreatment by the Su family. Ji Hong reveals the Su family wants him to manage their new Hai City branch, a move Changfeng recognizes as a test of his abilities. Meanwhile, the Su family's arrival in Hai City causes a stir, with the Tang family struggling to secure a business partnership. Old Madam Tang tasks Tang Qiulu with securing the deal, unaware Qiulu has received a cryptic message from Su Changfeng.

Staring at the woman in the corner, Tang Xiangdong slowly stated, “Should you succeed, I shall willingly become your assistant, dedicating my days to serving you. However, if you falter, your current vow becomes a deception, and the Tang Family cannot harbor a deceitful individual who makes baseless promises!”

At the convenience store directly in front of the Su Family residence.

“Boss, a pack of cigarettes, please.”

“You’re always right on time.”

In a small supermarket positioned opposite the Tang Group, the proprietor sighed as he observed Su Changfeng.

Ever since a particular day three years prior, this young man had made it a point to visit him punctually each and every day.

For the past three years, this routine remained unchanged, irrespective of the prevailing weather conditions.

Initially, the owner found this peculiar, but he soon noticed a pattern: every time Tang Qiulu departed from the group’s building, this young man would also depart.

As for Su Changfeng’s true identity, the owner harbored a strong suspicion but chose to remain silent. After all, every family has its own set of challenges, and this particular son-in-law of the Tang Family was widely recognized throughout Hai City as an utterly useless individual.

Perhaps this young man preferred for his true circumstances to remain unknown.

“There’s nothing for me to do at home,” Su Changfeng replied with a smile.

The proprietor of this modest supermarket, now a middle-aged man, deeply admired Su Changfeng’s unwavering persistence.

For three consecutive years, he appeared precisely at half-past four every afternoon, steadfastly watching over Tang Qiulu.

“When do you intend to bring your wife home? Merely observing from afar isn’t a sustainable solution,” the shopkeeper initiated a conversation, as there were no other customers present.

Su Changfeng directed his gaze towards the entrance of the Tang Group and offered a smile, “It’s not time for her to finish work yet.”

“My friend, I have something on my mind that I’d like to discuss; I’m unsure if it's appropriate,” the owner couldn’t help but voice his thoughts.

“Please, go ahead.”

“From my perspective, you don’t seem like an ordinary person at all; why did you choose to marry into the Tang Family?”

Even though the owner lacked exceptional insight, his extensive experience and daily interactions with numerous individuals led him to a particular conclusion. In his estimation, Su Changfeng possessed an aura that set him apart from everyone else; while he couldn't articulate precisely why, he consistently felt that this young man did not resemble the supposed 'waste' of Hai City.

“I have family connections, I’m not some extraordinary being with supernatural abilities; I am simply an ordinary person,” Su Changfeng responded.

“You understand my true meaning,” the owner hesitated briefly before continuing, “If I had to endure years of such slander and humiliation, I likely would have collapsed long ago!”

Collapsed?

Su Changfeng chuckled inwardly. Discarded as worthless by his own family, only to then marry into the Tang Family. Tang Qiulu had never uttered a single word of complaint, so why should he?

In the eyes of the public, Su Changfeng was perpetually subjected to humiliation. However, from Su Changfeng’s own perspective, Tang Qiulu bore a far greater burden of grievances than he did.

“Compared to her, the hardships I’ve faced are insignificant,” Su Changfeng stated.

The owner let out a helpless sigh and ceased his inquiries.

Once Tang Qiulu concluded her workday and clocked out, Su Changfeng, in his customary manner, bade farewell to the owner before departing on his small electric bicycle.

Tang Qiulu remained at the front of the building, observing Su Changfeng until he was out of sight.

For the past three years, Su Changfeng had been waiting for her to finish her work each day. She, in turn, would only leave after Su Changfeng had already departed.

The Tang Family residence.

Tang Zhenhua was recounting the day’s events from the company meeting to Sun Mei. Upon hearing the entire account, Sun Mei was beside herself with agitation!

Just as Sun Mei finished speaking, Tang Qiulu entered the room. Sun Mei seemed poised to leap up and rushed towards her daughter:

“Tang Qiulu, have you lost your mind? Do you have any idea what will happen if we are expelled from the Tang Family? How will we survive afterward? Don’t you realize that Tang Xiangdong is deliberately trying to set you up? Can’t you see his true intentions?”

“He doesn’t want our family to accept any financial support from the Tang Family,” Tang Qiulu replied calmly.

Sun Mei’s expression shifted drastically upon hearing this, “You are fully aware of this, so why did you agree? What makes you believe you possess the capability to achieve what every other member of the Tang Family has failed to accomplish?”

Tang Qiulu’s mind was in a turmoil. She had just made the decision to place her trust in Su Changfeng, yet she was uncertain if it was the correct course of action. Despite her family’s precarious standing within the group, their potential inheritance was contingent upon their grandmother’s passing. If they were to be cast out of the Tang Family, they would be left with absolutely nothing.

Entrusting her future to Su Changfeng represented an incredibly high stake!

However, having spoken the words, how could she possibly retract them?

“Mom, I am your daughter; why don’t you have faith in me?” Tang Qiulu pleaded.

Sun Mei’s body trembled with fury.

She bellowed, her voice laced with rage, “And why should I have faith in you? Everyone else in the Tang Family has proven incapable; what makes you think you are any different?”

Why?

Tang Qiulu herself did not possess an answer to that question.

Was her agreement solely based on a message received from Su Changfeng?

Su Canghai made his entrance just in time to witness the unfolding scene.

Approaching Tang Qiulu, he then addressed Sun Mei, stating, “Mom, regardless of anything, you must have faith in your daughter. Qiulu will undoubtedly succeed.”

Sun Mei cast an impatient glance at Su Changfeng, remarking coldly, “This matter is entirely unrelated to you.

Had you not married into our family, with Qiulu’s beauty, she could have certainly found a match in a wealthy household. You've only ruined that chance, and you have no right to speak here!”

Su Changfeng remained silent, turning to walk towards the kitchen to prepare a meal.

“Su Changfeng, can I truly trust you?” Tang Qiulu suddenly inquired of him.

Su Changfeng turned his head, a smile gracing his lips, and responded, “You can.”

“What is happening?

What transpired?” Sun Mei immediately questioned Tang Qiulu, sensing an unusual dynamic between them. She suspected that scoundrel might have somehow convinced Tang Qiulu to agree.

“Do not leave just yet; explain this to me clearly.

Are you involved in this situation?

Did you persuade Qiulu to give her consent?” Sun Mei pressed Su Changfeng.

Tang Qiulu understood that if Sun Mei discovered the true reason for her agreement, she would undoubtedly humiliate Su Changfeng, perhaps even driving him away.

“Mom, the decision was entirely mine; it has absolutely no connection to him,” Tang Qiulu stated.

“No connection to him?

Qiulu, has he bewitched you?

You believe the words of this good-for-nothing, are you out of your mind!” Sun Mei seized Tang Qiulu by her shoulders, her agitation causing her to grip tightly.

Observing Tang Qiulu wince from the pain, Su Changfeng’s expression turned grim. He firmly took hold of Sun Mei’s hand and declared coldly, “Whether Qiulu succeeds or not, the outcome will be revealed tomorrow.

Why not choose to place your trust in her, just this once?”

Sun Mei, infuriated, retorted, “Let go! Since when has it been your place to interfere in our affairs?”

Su Changfeng’s gaze locked onto Sun Mei, his expression growing more severe.

Even Sun Mei herself wouldn’t be allowed to bully Tang Qiulu!

Upon witnessing Su Changfeng's intense look, Sun Mei suddenly felt a flicker of unease. The man's gaze was piercingly fierce, as if he were prepared to take her life.
