The City’s Strongest Son-in-law Chapter 1233 - 1232: Dominant Women

"If it wasn't Wang Junyi, then it must be Wang Chongxing plotting from the shadows. He's been overshadowed by us for years and likely holds a grudge." After a period of contemplation, Patriarch Wu gave a solemn command, "Issue an order to increase the guard patrols during this time."
Meanwhile, over at the Shen Family's residence.
When the news of Su Changfeng's unscathed return reached Shen Rushuang, her eyes widened in astonishment. This outcome was, to her, equally baffling.
She understood better than most how deeply Wang Junyi had been fixated on her over the years. Yet, an unknown party had somehow bested him, and Wang Junyi, predictably, would not easily accept such a loss.
Su Changfeng's recent excursion was undoubtedly a golden opportunity for Wang Junyi. However, for Su Changfeng to emerge from it completely unharmed was truly beyond belief.
"Miss, while Wang Junyi may have returned, the more than a dozen Second-rank Experts who accompanied him have all disappeared. This situation is truly perplexing," the maid remarked, a hint of confusion in her voice.
Upon hearing this, Shen Rushuang's heart began to pound. With such a development, only one conclusion seemed plausible: the supposed 'waste' they all perceived, Su Changfeng, was responsible for the demise of those Second-rank Experts.
But could this truly be the case? He was nothing but a good-for-nothing; how could he possibly possess the ability to vanquish so many skilled individuals?
Suddenly, Shen Rushuang recalled the incident involving the Fourth-rank Expert. Could it be that Su Changfeng hadn't deceived her after all, and he was indeed the one who had defeated him?
At this moment, Shen Rushuang's heart beat even more rapidly. If this were true, it would bring immense advantages to their Shen Family!
However, without witnessing it firsthand, Shen Rushuang was naturally hesitant to place her full trust in such a claim.
"Miss, Su Changfeng has returned," a hurried messenger announced, entering from outside. Shen Rushuang wasted no time and proceeded directly to meet him.
Back in his chambers, intending to recuperate, Su Changfeng observed Shen Rushuang's arrival. He wasn't particularly taken aback by her presence.
"Are you looking for me?" Su Changfeng inquired.
"You actually made it back alive. What exactly happened?" Shen Rushuang abandoned pleasantries and asked point-blank.
"Shen Rushuang, no matter what you say, we are, by name, husband and wife. Do you truly wish for my demise so desperately?" Su Changfeng responded with a slight smile.
"I have no time to exchange pleasantries with you. Wang Junyi brought a multitude of experts to deal with you; how did you manage to return?" Shen Rushuang was determined to resolve the queries in her mind, her stance firm.
"Wang Junyi? The City Lord's son? We have no known connections; why would he target me?" Su Changfeng feigned ignorance.
Shen Rushuang's expression soured. It was evident to her that Su Changfeng was evading the question. How could he not be aware of Wang Junyi's intent to confront him? Furthermore, the maid had already hinted at it; his pretense of unawareness now would not fool Shen Rushuang.
"Su Changfeng, do you take me for an idiot?" Shen Rushuang uttered through clenched teeth, her frustration palpable.
Yet, Su Changfeng remained outwardly unfazed. "You understand perfectly well that Wang Junyi would not let me off the hook. Now, given that I've returned unharmed, it can only imply one thing: Wang Junyi did not succeed in harming me. Shen Rushuang, you are quite astute; surely you can deduce the reason why?"
Wang Junyi had departed with Su Changfeng; therefore, their paths must have crossed, and a confrontation was all but inevitable.
Shen Rushuang was no fool. She sensed that this situation was far from simple and that some unforeseen event had surely transpired.
"Could it be... did you eliminate those individuals?" Shen Rushuang finally posed the question that weighed most heavily on her mind. In truth, she had sought out Su Changfeng precisely for this reason.
If Su Changfeng genuinely possessed such formidable abilities, her perception of him would inevitably shift.
While she might not fall for him, having such a talent affiliated with the Shen Family would be an immense asset to Shen Rushuang.
Upon hearing this, Su Changfeng let out a sudden laugh. "Shen Rushuang, if my memory serves me correctly, haven't you always considered me a complete waste? If I am indeed a waste, what makes you believe I could possibly annihilate a dozen Second-rank Experts in a single encounter? If you genuinely entertain this notion, I must say I'm rather flattered."
Shen Rushuang clenched her fist. Su Changfeng's response neither confirmed nor denied her suspicion, clearly indicating his unwillingness to provide a straightforward answer.
"Su Changfeng, I will uncover your true identity sooner or later!" With those words, Shen Rushuang shot him a fierce glare before departing, her sleeves dramatically flaring.
Su Changfeng smirked. He held no doubt regarding Shen Rushuang's pronouncement. This woman, known for her domineering nature and unwavering resolve, would stop at nothing to achieve her objectives. Since she vowed to investigate him, she would undoubtedly commit all her resources to the task.
Su Changfeng, however, felt no apprehension. In this completely unfamiliar Tianyuan Continent, his past was nonexistent. Therefore, no matter how cunning Shen Rushuang’s tactics were, they would fail to uncover his true identity.
"This woman's beauty is superficial; she pales in comparison to the gentle Han Xue," Su Changfeng mused with a sigh, his thoughts drifting, as they often did, towards Shen Hanxue.
Frustrated by her inability to extract the desired information from Su Changfeng, Shen Rushuang felt an intense rage welling up, yearning to tear him limb from limb.
Amaid, quaking, trailed behind, murmuring, "Miss, the Master returns tomorrow. It’s hardly worth jeopardizing your health over that good-for-nothing."
Shen Rushuang drew a deep, steadying breath, attempting to suppress the fury simmering within, but her efforts yielded little; the anger remained potent.
Su Changfeng resided within the Shen Family's estate, and she, as the family's esteemed heiress, could not even manage such a useless individual. How could she possibly yield?
"Miss, perhaps we should await the elder brother's return? Then, we could devise a suitable method to test Su Changfeng properly," the maid ventured cautiously.
Shen Rushuang's brother, Shen Yunlong, a formidable Second-rank Expert, though not exceptionally renowned for his prowess, had cherished his sister since their childhood. Indeed, the prolonged delay in Wang Junyi’s schemes owed a considerable debt to Shen Yunlong's influence.
This particular marriage arrangement for Shen Rushuang had met with Shen Yunlong's strong disapproval. Nevertheless, contemplating that it might finally bring about Wang Junyi's downfall once and for all, he refrained from voicing further objections.
In Shen Yunlong's estimation, Su Changfeng was a mere void, an insignificant presence destined for immediate discard once his utility expired.
After a brief period of contemplation, Shen Rushuang nodded in agreement. "Indeed, by using Brother as a benchmark, we may indeed gauge his capabilities."
The following day, the Shen Family grounds were adorned in festive splendor. Su Changfeng observed the bustling servants with a look of utter bewilderment.
"What is all this commotion about? What are you all so busy with?" Su Changfeng inquired, casually intercepting a passing servant to voice his curiosity.
