The CEO's Woman Chapter 2 And you are?
Previously on The CEO's Woman...
Three years had passed since they took up residence within the Jiang Mansion.
Though the circumstances surrounding their cohabitation at that time had invited abundant scorn and disgust, Lu Shi remained unfazed. Lu Shi and Jiang Chanming had been deeply in love, childhood sweethearts, in fact. However, Jiang Chanming had opted to marry Wang Rou to elevate the standing of the Jiang Family.
Initially, Lu Shi felt deeply aggrieved. Having grown up alongside Jiang Chanming, she had always envisioned herself as his wife. The prospect of Jiang Chanming marrying another woman was unbearable for Lu Shi. Consequently, she chose to pursue an intimate relationship with him in the days leading up to his wedding. Jiang Chanming became captivated, and their affair was far from a fleeting encounter. They continued to meet even after Jiang Chanming's marriage ceremony.
By the time Wang Rou discovered their illicit relationship, Lu Shi and Jiang Chanming already had a daughter who was five years old. They anticipated that a divorce was imminent. Much to their surprise, Wang Rou neither initiated divorce proceedings nor informed the Wang family of her distress. To Lu Shi's satisfaction, Wang Rou even began to distance herself from Jiang Chanming. Several months after the affair came to light, Jiang Chanming was incensed upon learning that all of Wang Rou's properties and corporate shares had been transferred into her daughter's name. This included all of her offshore accounts and business partnerships.
To be perfectly candid, Lu Shi was also displeased with Wang Rou's actions. The Lu family was merely a humble merchant household. She had harbored the expectation that Jiang Chanming might inherit some of Wang Rou's wealth upon their separation. Yet, astonishingly, that woman had the audacity to bequeath everything to her sole daughter. Nevertheless, given their present predicament, Lu Shi felt compelled to suppress her anger and instead devise strategies to eliminate that detestable woman.
And her efforts were successful. Lu Shi couldn't suppress a self-satisfied smile. Wang Rou was deceased, but her daughter still lived. What a pity. Still, the opportunity to entice Jiang Yue into bestowing some inheritance upon her stepsister, Jiang Mian, always presented itself. An wicked grin slowly spread across her face. 'Or she could simply get rid of her,' she mused.
"Madam... Madam... Hurry. Madam!" A breathless maidservant's voice startled her.
"Fe-er, what is the matter? Are you attempting to give me a heart attack?
"Madam. The young miss... The young miss has arrived." Fe'er clutched her chest as she spoke, as if she had just run for her life.
"Huh? So, what's the issue? Why are you in such a panic?" she inquired. Her thoughts were occupied by her daughter, Jiang Mian. Her daughter had been focused on preparing for the National Higher Educational Entrance Examination. It was not unusual for her to return home and study at the Mansion for the night instead of her dormitory.
"No, Madam. It's the Eldest Miss. Jiang Yue. She is here."
The mere mention of Jiang Yue's name sent a tremor through Lu Shi. How could it not? She had been plotting against her life just moments before.
"What did you say? Jiang Yue? Where is she? Quickly, show me..." She was currently tending to her flowers on the terraces at the rear of the Mansion. It was a considerable distance, necessitating a quicker pace to conserve time.
She couldn't help but curse inwardly. How could Jiang Yue have arrived without prior notification? Jiang Chanming was not present; he was abroad on business and was not due to return until the following day. She clenched her teeth in irritation.
Panting, she reached the veranda where Jiang Yue was seated with elegant composure, engrossed in a book in a foreign language while leisurely sipping her tea. Lu Shi composed herself before announcing her presence.
"Jiang Yue? How is it that you didn't inform us of your arrival? We could have made arrangements." Lu Shi's tone, if heard by a stranger, would suggest a close acquaintance.
Jiang Yue lifted her gaze from her book and regarded Lu Shi. Lu Shi gasped in sheer astonishment. The young woman before her was breathtakingly beautiful. No, describing Jiang Yue as merely beautiful felt like a gross understatement.
She possessed an ethereal beauty, akin to a deity. Her hair was long, transitioning from dark roots to a gracefully colored gray. Delicate eyebrows arched above curling lashes. A tall, straight nose graced her face, complemented by full, pink lips. Her most striking feature, however, was her deep-set gray eyes, a direct inheritance from her mother, Wang Rou.
Jiang Yue surveyed Lu Shi from head to toe, her eyes filled with unspoken questions.
Then, she raised an eyebrow and inquired, "A-and you are?"
