The Bodyguard King’s CEO Wife Chapter 1986: Seeking Allegiance
Previously on The Bodyguard King’s CEO Wife...
The Tang Family and the Gongsun Family’s two Family Heads, although considered ambitious, are better described as opportunists compared to their “beliefs.” They sway with the wind, and last night they both lost nearly a thousand men. Such losses are unbearable for them, almost halving their family’s strength. Naturally, they are unwilling, so immediately joining the Chen family’s camp to remain neutral is their priority. As for siding with the Zheng Family, it is entirely out of the question. Even if they did side with the Zheng Family, the likelihood of them becoming cannon fodder is inevitable.
Zheng Su’s words can only be trusted by a fraction, maybe even less. Beyond the truth of her words, one must also determine her underlying intentions. What is her real purpose in saying these things?
“Alright, the Tang Family and the Gongsun Family are both powerful families. If we can win them over, it’s a great thing. Su’er, since you have a way, I’ll leave this to you.” Zheng Li immediately expressed his agreement. Zheng Ji, standing by, furrowed his brows, desperately trying to catch his eye. This was obviously a “trap,” yet Zheng Li agreed so easily. Why?
“Alright, Uncle, I’ll handle it. I will certainly win over the Tang Family and the Gongsun Family.” Zheng Su immediately issued a “military warrant,” vowing to complete the task, and left soon after.
“Father, why did you agree to her? This is definitely a trap. Although the Tang Family and the Gongsun Family are fair-weather friends, they wouldn’t turn to us. They want to protect themselves, not willingly become cannon fodder.”
“That’s precisely why I sent her.” Zheng Li sneered. As expected, this old fox already had a plan. Just moments earlier, he devised a “trap to counter a trap”, essentially a strategy of turning the tables.
“Mr. Zheng, I think your father has a plan in mind?” Ye Shikai smiled lightly, then turned to Zheng Li. “Senior Zheng, would you care to elaborate? If possible, I’m ready to cooperate anytime.”
“Alright, I was worried Mr. Ye wouldn’t want to cooperate, but since you said so, I am at ease.” Zheng Li nodded.
“My plan is very simple…”

“Qian, how did you get hurt?” Upon returning to their camp, Ye Shikai noticed Ji Qian was injured. Her arm bore a deep, ghastly ten-centimeter gash. Such a grim scar on a beautiful woman evoked a sense of “jade shattering,” enough to make any man distressed.
“Don’t worry, it’s just a flesh wound, it’s nothing.” Ji Qian had bandaged the wound, but the agony was “visibly evident,” probably a result of clashes with mutants last night. These mutants were like beasts, their claws as sharp as blades and showed no mercy. The wound on her arm wasn’t fatal, but if it had been on her neck, the outcome might have been uncertain.
“I have some painkillers here, they might help.” Ye Shikai noticed Ji Qian’s pale complexion, suspecting she was in excruciating pain.
“How about visiting a hospital? The conditions here in the mountains aren’t good.” Ye Shikai advised.
“Didn’t I say it’s nothing? Besides, we’re at a critical juncture—how can I leave now?” Ji Qian retorted.
“No matter how important, nothing is more crucial than your safety. Besides, battle isn’t meant for you.” Ye Shikai still held some traditional views; he disliked involving women in fights and didn’t see them as adversaries. Fighting was a man’s duty, something he couldn’t avoid, but he tried to protect, especially someone as significant as Ji Qian was to him.
“It’s just a deep cut, really nothing serious.”
“Alright, but still, take care and recover well. Avoid fighting if you can; if you must, be cautious.” Ye Shikai continually reminded.
“Don’t worry, I’m not a child.”
Ye Shikai turned away from Ji Family’s camp. Ji Qian’s injury was on his mind, but more crucial matters awaited. This involved all prominent families and the lives of the Three Temples’ members. Ye Shikai wished to save as many as possible, leaving no room for error.
“Mr. Ye, do you have any concerns about my father’s plan?” Zheng Ji approached, asking.
“Though my Netherworld Palace members dislike being cannon fodder, they aren’t cowardly. Also, I believe, only by leading from the front can we lure the enemy.” Ye Shikai sighed. He dared to lead but wouldn’t gamble his brothers’ lives for bravado. He wouldn’t compromise others’ lives for show, but was willing to accept Zheng Li’s arrangement because he deemed it right.
Zheng Su claimed to play the intermediary role, enticing the Tang and Gongsun Families to side with them. Though tempting, the Zheng father and son were sharp, swiftly identifying it as a trap. In mere minutes, Zheng Li recognized this as a massive trap…
…………………………
Late at night.
“Miss Zheng, we haven’t met often—this would be the second time, right? I guess I should introduce myself again: I’m Ye Shikai.” Ye Shikai extended his hand to shake with Zheng Su.
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Ye. I’m Zheng Su.” Zheng Su smiled, generously extending her hand.
“Miss Zheng, are you sure you can get the Tang Family and the Gongsun Family to join us?” Ye Shikai questioned. They stood on the western edge of the forest, near a river, surrounded by trees and shrubs. According to the “agreement”—negotiated by Zheng Su—the Tang and Gongsun Families were to come through. Being many in number and having “escaped” from the Chen Family, their action was scheduled for late night and the welcoming party comprised members of the Three Temples, particularly from the Netherworld Palace: Ye Shikai, Ghost, Nightmare, Demoness, Soul Destroyer…
“Look, someone’s coming out.” Zheng Su suddenly said, as someone slowly emerged from the shrubs ahead, whom Ye Shikai immediately recognized.
“Tang Family Head, we meet again.” Ye Shikai coldly smiled. At this point, Tang Can probably wanted to kill him, yet still approached with a smile.
