The Bodyguard King’s CEO Wife Chapter 1954: Incident

"Xin, answer me, what the hell is going on? Why are there so many Worms?" Ye Shikai roared, questioning her. A sharp pain stabbed through his chest—Chen Yuxin had been hiding this from him all along, secretly cultivating so many Worms in the secret room, right in their own home...
"Answer me." Ye Shikai grabbed Chen Yuxin’s arm, shaking her hard, shouting, "Why? Why did you hide this from me?"
"Kai, I’m sorry, I’m sorry." Chen Yuxin suddenly burst into tears, covering her face with both hands, looking like she was in agony. For a moment, Ye Shikai didn’t even know what to do. He didn’t know whether he should comfort her, keep scolding her, or press her for answers. He was deeply confused: what the hell was this, why was the Chen family cultivating Worms, and in such terrifying numbers.
"Tell me, what the hell is going on."
"Kai, I’ll tell you the whole truth, everything—but not now." Chen Yuxin suddenly lifted her head and said softly.
"Why? I want you to tell me right now what these Worms are all about." Ye Shikai shouted.
"Run!" The Blade Soul suddenly yelled in his mind. Ye Shikai had just started to move when a huge net dropped down over him.
"There’s a mechanism." Ye Shikai tried to blast the net open, but this net was like a living thing, automatically tightening around him, binding him so hard he couldn’t break free at all. Even when he channeled his Inner Strength, it was useless—this was something made specifically to restrain cultivators.
"Fire Element." Ye Shikai tried to take out the Fire Element from his Storage Ring, but he couldn’t channel it either.
"Chen Yuxin, what are you doing? Let me go." Now Ye Shikai couldn’t even bother with proper forms of address. He was furious.
"I’m sorry, Kai. I’m going to have to wrong you for a while." Chen Yuxin suddenly raised her palm, chopping toward his neck. Even though Ye Shikai was tangled up in the net, he still had martial skills, and now that he was on guard, he managed to dodge.
"You..." Ye Shikai twisted his body to avoid the hand chop, but his body toppled to the ground, and he couldn’t stand up again. That damn net, whatever it was made of—once it wrapped around you, it was like it was welded to your body, completely impossible to escape.
"Kai, rest for a bit. Everything you want to know, I’ll tell you. But not now." Chen Yuxin slowly stepped forward. Ye Shikai caught a faint whiff of perfume, and soon his consciousness began to blur. His eyelids grew heavier and heavier. In no time at all, he slipped completely into unconsciousness.
Ye Shikai had walked right into the trap. This was the Chen family’s secret room, surrounded by Chen family guards and Arrays. Even if Ye Shikai managed to get inside, once he was discovered, even if he went on a massacre and fought with everything he had, there was no way he’d get out intact.
But he really hadn’t expected Chen Yuxin to suddenly come back. That attendant had said she’d gone out—how could she have returned so fast?
He didn’t know how long had passed before Ye Shikai finally woke up. His head felt foggy and heavy, and his body was weak.
"Where is this?" Ye Shikai looked around. He didn’t know where he was now, but it should still be somewhere in the Chen family’s secret rooms. His entire body was bound up with rope. He tried to use Inner Strength to tear it apart, but it had no effect at all. This rope was also clearly made specifically to deal with cultivators. Ye Shikai had seen this kind of rope before but never owned any himself. The Chen family had deep foundations, all kinds of treasures inside, even things Ye Shikai himself didn’t know about.
"Dammit." Ye Shikai thought back to what had happened earlier—he’d discovered the Chen family secretly cultivating Worms, and then... Chen Yuxin had caught him, and next thing he knew, he’d ended up like this.
Ye Shikai leaned against the wall, resting for a bit to recover his strength. He fell into deep thought. With everything Chen Yuxin had done, there was no need to say more. She’d been secretly cultivating Worms; there was a very high chance she was in league with that group of black-robed people in the deep mountains of Jiangnan—maybe... maybe she was even their mastermind.
The deep mountains of Jiangnan were Chen Yaogzu’s secluded cultivation site. The Chen Family could come and go there freely, no obstacles. And that group of black-robed people capturing and cultivating Worms there—nothing could be more convenient. Ye Shikai should have thought of this long ago: those black-robed people were basically just Chen family subordinates.
Ye Shikai recalled Ji Qian’s words and her speculation. Putting all the pieces of evidence together, Ye Shikai could now pretty much conclude that the person supplying Worms to George was Chen Yuxin—and even... even the HST project was connected to her.
Though Chen Yuxin had done a lot of "bad things," Ye Shikai had thought she’d let it all go. At least after having their child, she’d seemed much gentler. Ye Shikai had never imagined she could hide this deep.
Ye Shikai clenched his fist and slammed it into the ground with all his strength, venting. They were clearly husband and wife—so why was she still doing all this? Ye Shikai felt the raw pain of betrayal. Yes, he’d been utterly and completely "betrayed" by Chen Yuxin.
Chen Yuxin must have her own reasons for doing this. Ye Shikai needed to know her motive, and even more, how far along her plan already was.
But the immediate problem was: how to get out. Right now he was tied up; he could barely move. Even if he managed to break free from the rope, how would he get out of the Chen family’s secret rooms? His phone was gone as well. He had a backup in his Storage Ring, but this place was probably signal-shielded.
This was really bad.
"Anyone there?" Ye Shikai shouted loudly, trying to draw someone over. He was currently under Chen Yuxin’s house arrest; there should logically be guards posted outside. Sure enough, the door slowly opened and a woman walked in.
"Son-in-law, do you need something?" The one who came in was none other than one of the Shadow Organization’s commanders, Feng Ling.
"What are you people doing? Hurry up and untie me. I need to move around." Ye Shikai complained.
"I’m sorry, son-in-law. I can’t obey."
"You..."
"This is the Family Head’s order. She asks that you wait here for a while. She’ll be back tonight." Feng Ling explained.
"What exactly are you all doing? Why are you cultivating Worms?" Ye Shikai pressed, hoping to get some clues out of Feng Ling.
"I’m sorry, son-in-law. I don’t know anything. If you have any requests, please just let me know. I’ll take my leave first." Feng Ling finished speaking and left the room.
"Hey, get back here." Ye Shikai shouted, but Feng Ling ignored him, walked out, and locked the door behind her.
"Damn." Ye Shikai cursed under his breath. No, he had to get out of here as soon as possible—but how was he supposed to get this rope off?
"Blade Soul, Blade Soul, are you there? Hurry up and help me."
