Ye Shikai investigates Tianjing's death, suspecting the mastermind behind the HST project is involved. He reviews Tianjing's dashcam footage, which reveals he went to Luo Shiqi's Dark Night Bar shortly before his death. Ye Shikai plans to visit the bar himself to find clues and contacts Luo Shiqi for information.

"Okay, I agree. I’m at the company right now and will head to the bar soon. If you get there before me, please wait for a bit." Luo Shiqi quickly replied, sounding quite anxious. Tianjing’s identity was not ordinary, yet he died in the back alley of the Dark Night Bar. Luo Shiqi had to come up with an explanation.

Dark Night Bar.

"Mr. Ye, please wait in the private room; our boss will be here soon."

"Alright."

The security at Dark Night Bar had long been familiar with Ye Shikai, and since there weren’t many people during the day, upon seeing him, they immediately led him to the private room.

Tianjing’s death was a blow to the entire National Security Bureau. After all, he was the leader of the Divine Weapon Special Group, which was responsible for many "strange cases." Currently, the most important project was the HST project. Tianjing’s death would significantly affect the investigation, possibly making it grind to a halt. It was due to this motivation that Ye Shikai suspected the murderer was someone involved in the HST project.

Half an hour later.

"Sorry for keeping you waiting." Luo Shiqi hurried into the private room and waved her hand, signaling everyone to leave.

"It’s fine, though time is tight. Right now, you’re the only source I have for clues." Ye Shikai sighed. The current situation was very passive for him; Tianjing’s death had pushed him further away from the mastermind.

"To be honest, I really didn’t know the deceased was Tianjing. Although someone dying in a bar’s back alley isn’t a trivial matter, people die everywhere every day aside from old age and illness. Besides, my men follow the rules. Since they didn’t do it, I’m naturally not worried. But now that you’ve told me the deceased is Tianjing, I have to take it seriously."

"Alright, don’t worry. I believe this matter is not related to you. However, since it happened in the Dark Night Bar’s back alley, there should be some clues." Tianjing died in the bar’s alley, so the National Security Bureau would definitely investigate Luo Shiqi. Although being upright means not fearing shadows, it’s still somewhat troublesome. Ye Shikai didn’t want to waste time on meaningless things. What should be done now is to investigate what Tianjing was doing at the bar last night.

"No problem; if needed, I can have them close for a few days to cooperate with your investigation." Luo Shiqi nodded.

"You don’t need to be so nervous. I’m not from the National Security Bureau; I’m just assisting their investigation. Today, my conversation with you is entirely in a personal capacity." Ye Shikai continued, "Shiqi, does anyone at your bar know what happened last night?"

"I’ll have my subordinates inquire about that."

"Additionally, does your bar have surveillance? I want to see what Tianjing did after he arrived." Ye Shikai asked.

"There’s surveillance in the main hall, but not in the private rooms; that’s a personal space, along with the restroom." Luo Shiqi explained.

"Alright, then let’s start by checking the main hall’s surveillance, and also the alley’s footage."

Ten minutes later.

"Boss, Mr. Ye, all the surveillance is here, but...the alley camera went black from last night at nine o’clock onwards. We checked, and it was deliberately damaged," the security from the surveillance room answered.

"It’s broken, why didn’t anyone notice? Isn’t a blackout suspicious?" Ye Shikai questioned.

"Mr. Ye, even if a camera is broken, the quickest we can replace it is the next day. Besides, only one camera broke; we all thought it was due to old wiring damage."

Ye Shikai’s face turned grim; he should have anticipated it. Since those people had planned to kill Tianjing, they would definitely disable the cameras beforehand.

"If they dared to act on Tianjing here, why leave the body in the alley instead of taking it away?" Luo Shiqi asked.

"Perhaps they feared being discovered," Ye Shikai speculated. "This is a busy area; even after eleven at night there are many people on the street. They were worried about being noticed, so they left the body here."

"First, pull up the hall’s surveillance for me to see." Ye Shikai ordered, and the person promptly displayed the footage. Tianjing was seen entering the bar and heading directly to the second private room on the left but emerged shortly afterwards.

"Who was in that private room? You should have records, right?" Ye Shikai pursued.

"Just an ordinary guest; the security didn’t recognize them. It seems to be a first-time visitor."

"Did Tianjing rush here merely to find an ordinary guest?" Ye Shikai murmured. The situation was becoming somewhat convoluted. According to the clues, he needed to quickly find this "mysterious guest."

Ye Shikai walked into the private room Tianjing entered. Inside, there was a bathroom, and within the bathroom was a window leading outside. The bar was on the first floor; with a gentle flip, one could exit through the window. Based on the surveillance, aside from Tianjing, only people entered this room; none exited. They most likely escaped through the window.

Ye Shikai then proceeded to the alley, where only a puddle of blood remained on the ground. Several National Security Bureau members had sealed off the alley. Upon careful examination, Ye Shikai noted that this alley was very secluded and narrow, linking one road to another straight through.

The murderer likely killed Tianjing elsewhere and then left the body here. This was Ye Shikai’s analysis, but he quickly detected irregularities. Firstly, both ends of the alley led to busy streets. If someone were carrying a body inside, how could they not be noticed?

Tianjing had a knife wound on his chest, penetrating his heart. Before the autopsy report was released, it was initially determined to be the fatal injury.

"Logically speaking, Tianjing was a skilled practitioner; how could he be killed so easily?" Ye Shikai sighed. He still found it hard to accept that Tianjing had just died like this. The death was too sudden...

...............

Night fell, and Ye Shikai returned to the Chen family estate. There still weren’t any clues in Tianjing’s investigation, apart from the cause of death and the murderer’s identity. Ye Shikai was more curious about what information Tianjing possessed that made the perpetrators brave enough to kill him and silence him.

"I’ve heard about Tianjing; didn’t you grasp the danger yet, Kai?" Chen Yuxin slowly walked over, comforting him and persuading him at the same time.

"Tianjing was the National Security Bureau’s leader, and even he was harmed, showing just how dangerous it is. Kai, please consider for me and the children."

"Enough, Xin, please don’t say anymore, can you let me be alone quietly?" Ye Shikai suddenly felt a surge of pressure, thinking if even Tianjing was killed, then who might be next...
