The organization behind the scenes has escaped abroad with their research, leaving behind a lost base and experimental subjects. Ye Shikai recognizes the severe threat posed by their potential mass production of monsters. He and Ouyang Feng discuss the limitations of confronting the organization overseas and the diminished state of Netherworld Palace. They then visit the National Security Bureau to examine the monster corpse, their only remaining clue.

Ye Shikai returned to the Chen family and stayed by Chen Yuxin’s side. With more time spent together, many of the previous barriers were invisibly dissolved. After all, the conflicts between them were mostly because of the short amount of time they spent together. Although they were once a couple, that was years ago.

Since Chen Yuxin became pregnant, Ye Shikai first traveled back to the Qin Dynasty, "disappearing" for two months, then went to the Kunlun Mountain ruins and also investigated in Hong Kong City. Now that Chen Yuxin is over six months pregnant, he actually hasn’t had much time to accompany her, and he feels quite ashamed about it. As a husband, he hasn’t been there for his wife’s side.

Late night.

"Kai, what are you thinking." Chen Yuxin suddenly opened her eyes and, using the faint light from the lamp, found Ye Shikai staring with open eyes. It was already 1 A.M., and he hadn’t slept...

"Xin, you’ve been wronged during this time." Ye Shikai was reflecting on himself. Although Chen Yuxin indeed had some areas she didn’t do well, he was hardly better. In comparison, Chen Yuxin fulfilled her duties as a wife, while he hadn’t done what a husband should do.

"What are you talking about?"

"Recently, I’ve experienced too many things, and haven’t had time to think, to reflect on myself. During this time at home, I’ve come to understand many things." Ye Shikai said calmly. Ultimately, he hadn’t had enough to think about, and when he quieted down, many things naturally became clear to him.

"Previously, I indeed didn’t look after you, which caused you anxiety and a lack of security. That’s my responsibility." Ye Shikai continued, "I once blamed you, keeping many things in my heart without saying to you. Let’s talk."

"Alright, Kai, can you now tell me what happened in those two months?" Chen Yuxin suddenly asked, and Ye Shikai realized he had never shared his experiences in the Qin Dynasty with her.

"I can tell you, but I’m afraid you won’t believe it." Ye Shikai said with a bitter smile.

"I’m also a cultivator, and the Chen family is a major family of cultivators. I’ve seen many things that sound incredible, so go ahead and tell me, I won’t doubt you."

"Alright, then I’ll explain."

Ye Shikai unexpectedly traveled back to the Qin Dynasty. Although only two months passed here, he lived in the Qin Dynasty for two solid years. Many things happened; Ye Shikai became an officer, led campaigns against the Wolf Clan, encountered the East County Meteor, even betrayed the court to rescue the citizens, and later joined Mi Wen, becoming a general for the Chu Army, commanding hundreds of thousands against Ba Shu. These stories sound "legendary" and incredible, but Chen Yuxin listened intently, as if she were hearing a story. So many events occurred, and by dawn, Ye Shikai hadn’t finished.

Of course, Chen Yuxin wasn’t interested in the wars; what intrigued her was the part about He Linghan. It’s not that she was overwhelmingly jealous, but rather a wife’s basic intuition. Her husband got married to another woman in another dynasty, and of course, she wouldn’t be happy. Whenever He Linghan was mentioned, she would clutch onto Ye Shikai tightly, afraid of losing him to someone else.

"Xin, I originally didn’t want to talk about Ling’er, but upon reflection, I shouldn’t hide it from you. You have the right to know."

"It’s alright; you’re back now." Chen Yuxin said. Although her words seemed unfazed, her clenched hands betrayed her emotions.

"Honestly, returning to the Qin Dynasty was an accident, like winning a huge lottery, and wishing to win a second time is almost impossible. So, I truly believed I wouldn’t have the chance to return." Ye Shikai explained, if things were so, he wouldn’t have come back, in modern times he’d be considered missing, and long-term disappearance basically meant he was no longer considered alive...

However, Ye Shikai did hide one thing: the resemblance between He Linghan’s appearance and Su Qingyu’s. Although he shouldn’t conceal it, saying it would risk Chen Yuxin bearing resentment toward Su Qingyu, even seeking revenge, and revenge would likely mean utilizing the Chen Group to suppress the Tianya Group.

"Regarding He Linghan, I don’t hate her." Chen Yuxin suddenly looked up with a tranquil expression, and calmly said, "Although she ’snatched’ my husband, if you really couldn’t come back to modern times, I would hope for a virtuous woman to take care of you in my place."

"Kai, no matter if these things were out of necessity or willing, they are now past. We are living together now; we should focus on what’s in front of us, shouldn’t we?" Chen Yuxin continued.

"You’re right, we should live for today."

"Regardless of He Linghan’s status in your heart, I am your wife now, Kai. Let’s not dwell on past events and just talk about us, okay?" Chen Yuxin buried her head in Ye Shikai’s arms, a slight sob in her voice.

"Alright, alright, I promise you, I won’t talk about the past, just the present."

Ye Shikai constantly stayed with Chen Yuxin at the Chen family. During this time, things were calm, the outside world seemed paused, with no major events occurring, and the Chen family was as usual. Chen Yuxin remained home resting, while Chen Ruoya managed matters within the group, and he heard no new updates regarding the HST project.

Four months later.

Hospital.

"Doctor, how are the conditions inside?" Ye Shikai sat on a chair outside the surgery room, his legs trembling, very anxious. Today was the day Chen Yuxin was giving birth, and he wasn’t the only one; every man would be nervous and on edge, as once the mother was wheeled out, he would become a father. The Chen family is one of the four great families in Yanjing, and Chen Yuxin, as the family head, her childbirth was known by other cultivator families as well.

"Don’t worry, everything is normal, the childbirth went smoothly, both mother and child are safe." The doctor said calmly, taking off his mask.

"That’s great." Ye Shikai was very excited upon hearing this news, Chen Yuxin was safe, and she had given birth to a son for him.

"Then why hasn’t she come out yet?" Ye Shikai asked.

"The mother just finished childbirth, is physically exhausted, still resting inside for a while."

"That’s good, that’s good." Ye Shikai murmured, his hands unconsciously rubbing together, showing excitement.
