The Bodyguard King’s CEO Wife Chapter 1865: A Temporary Conclusion

"Quick, collect this monster’s corpse, we need to conduct an examination." Tianjing ordered. This crocodile monster’s corpse is perhaps the only thing available for research. The situation was so grave this time; luckily the mission concluded successfully. Otherwise, if the monster had broken loose, the consequences would have been unpredictable.
Even though it was already a corpse, people were still hesitant to approach. Is this still a human? Of course not. They had already turned into monsters. Even the battle-hardened team members were shocked by the sight before them.
"Seal it up properly and escort it back to the Bureau’s laboratory."
"Yes."
"Yes."
"Wait, take this too. It might be valuable." Ye Shikai tossed over the severed claw. These mutated beings were no longer just Mothmen. They had a new, quicker, more powerful "breed." It’s unimaginable what monsters they could produce in a few months or even a year if given the time.
"Alright, the mission is complete. Let’s leave." Ye Shikai left the factory. Though it was an action that lasted less than an hour, the team felt as if they had run a marathon. The relief was palpable; the mental stress was much harder to endure than the physical strain.
From Zhang Ting asking him to investigate the missing person case to the investigations of the mole, Huo Hua, and eventually connecting it to the National Security Bureau’s investigation of the HST project, everything was intertwined. It made Ye Shikai start to wonder, is there truly a "destined connection" between him and this HST project and this secretive organization? Had he not helped Zhang Ting with the missing person case, none of this might have happened.
"Mr. Ye, I really have to thank you this time," Tianjing expressed gratitude in the returning car.
"No need to thank me. I worked with Zhang Ting on the HST project back in Yanjing. Unfortunately, we let them slip away then. Although they ran again this time, we dealt them a substantial blow." Ye Shikai waved his hand dismissively.
"According to the researchers’ accounts, they are all elite scientists in biological research from around the world. Some were lured by high salaries, others were coerced. In short, once they entered the factory, they were essentially under house arrest. Director Jin, who has already given the order, wants the National Security Bureau to begin investigating the HST project. Although the results of the serum have been stolen, with these researchers’ information and the mutated corpses, they should be able to recreate it." Tianjing continued, though initially reluctant, Ye Shikai realized that despite being unsettling, the National Security Bureau must begin research as well. They needed to develop a cure or "vaccine" first because if the organization started mass-producing mutated beings, they would be hard to defend against.
"These people are truly despicable. If it weren’t for them, there wouldn’t be such things as mutated beings," Phoenix complained.
"You can’t really put it that way. In the future, biology has a wide range of applications. Everything has two sides. Like a gun, in our hands, it’s a weapon against evil, but in the hands of criminals, it turns into a scythe of death." Ye Shikai countered. These researchers were the top in their field worldwide; he truly couldn’t comprehend what kind of olive branch the secretive organization had extended to recruit them.
Ye Shikai visited the Wu Family. His investigations in Hong Kong went smoothly, thanks greatly to Wu Yu’s help. Moreover, he was returning to Yanjing soon, so he specifically came to the Wu family to bid farewell.
"Mr. Wu, thank you for your help these past days. Now that the case is over, I should be heading back to Yanjing." Ye Shikai said with a bow.
"Since the case is solved, why not stay in Hong Kong for a few more days and let me host you as a local?"
"No, I have matters to attend to in Yanjing." Ye Shikai politely declined.
"In that case, I won’t insist. Frankly, I should be the one to thank Mr. Ye. Our collaboration with the Chen family wouldn’t be possible without Mr. Ye’s help. Speaking of which, it’s I who should be grateful to Mr. Ye." Wu Yu was straightforward, expressing his mind directly. He was most delighted to receive a large batch of high-quality training resources from the Chen family. As such, the Wu family’s power stood as the strongest among the families in Hong Kong.
But truth be told, Ye Shikai didn’t really help Wu Yu directly. His relationship with Chen Yuxin was strained, and the decision to cooperate with the Wu family was entirely Chen Yuxin’s.
"Mr. Ye, I just happen to be going to Yanjing to discuss more cooperation matters with Miss Chen. If you don’t mind, you can travel with me."
"That would be ideal."
That night, Ye Shikai boarded Wu Yu’s private plane bound for Yanjing. Before leaving, he also bid farewell to Cheng Luoqi. This trip to Hong Kong was very urgent, and they didn’t get a chance to talk leisurely, mostly focusing on mission actions.
"Mr. Ye, in the future, there will be more cooperation between the Wu and Chen families. I hope you can say good things on my behalf to Miss Chen." Wu Yu said courteously, hoping to leverage his connection with Ye Shikai to gain more cultivation resources from the Chen family.
"Rest assured, if I can be of any help, I certainly won’t refuse."
...........................
"Mr. Wu, I have some matters, I won’t be going to the corporation for now." Ye Shikai was still in a "cold war" with Chen Yuxin, and didn’t want to go there, so he made up an excuse, letting Wu Yu go on his own.
"Alright then."
Ye Shikai drove directly to the Dragon Teeth base. Ouyang Feng and the Dragon Teeth members had already returned to the base before him. This time, Dragon Teeth went to Hong Kong for a sort of "away game." In theory, with the mission over, they needn’t care much. But perhaps because of that mutated being, they were in low spirits. Though not really downcast, they might still be in shock. Even though they had faced countless formidable enemies, those opponents were all human. This time, it was a nightmarish, inhuman creature.
"Ouyang, were you shocked by this operation?" Ye Shikai asked directly.
"To be honest, it’s not the operation that shocked us; it’s the monster. It took dozens of us with full firepower half a minute of shooting to take it down, aiming at its head the entire time." Ouyang Feng smiled bitterly. "If we encounter something similar next time, it will be very difficult to deal with."
"It’s not your fault; these monsters’ capabilities can’t be measured by human standards."
"Old Ye, where do these monsters come from? Will they appear again?" Ouyang Feng asked back.
"I can’t guarantee, but I can tell you these monsters were created, just like the Mothmen last time. In the future... we might run into them again."
