Ye Shikai fought Mi Wen to a standstill but was eventually incapacitated by her "Illusion Pupil" technique. He awoke three days later in a modern-looking room, finding himself held captive by Mi Wen. He learned that his Storage Ring was also missing and urgently sought news of Ling'er and the others, but Mi Wen claimed she didn't know their whereabouts, stating she withdrew her troops after capturing him.

"Mi Wen, give me back my ring." Ye Shikai looked at the innocent-faced Mi Wen standing nearby and reached out his hand to her; the Storage Ring must have been taken by her.

"What ring? I’ve never seen it." Mi Wen spread her hands wide, looking "confused."

"You... it’s just a copper ring, but it’s very important to me. Give it back." Ye Shikai insisted Mi Wen return it to him. While the Storage Ring doesn’t aid his combat much, many resources are stored inside, including the Netherworld Blade, You Xi, and the Fire Element. Without these, it’s like losing his left and right arms.

"I’ve already said, I haven’t seen it." Mi Wen’s indifferent attitude suggested that she had discovered the secret of Ye Shikai’s Storage Ring, which is why she secretly took it. A small Storage Ring can be placed anywhere—inside a box, a chest, or even a hidden layer of clothing. Searching blindly would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

"Are you really unwilling to give it back?" Ye Shikai asked in response.

"I haven’t seen it or taken it. How can I give it to you?"

"Alright then, I’ll look for it myself." Ye Shikai said coldly and turned to leave, when suddenly his head spun, and he only avoided falling by grabbing the door frame for support.

"Are you okay?" Mi Wen stepped forward to support him. "You just woke up; the side effects of the Illusion Pupil are not minor. You should rest more, and I’ll assist you."

"No need. I can leave by myself." Ye Shikai shook off her hand, realizing he’d miscalculated. He hadn’t expected Mi Wen to have a trick like the "Illusion Pupil," and he didn’t even have a chance to counter it, resulting in a failed escape. The priority now was to find Shangguan Jian and He Linghan. With Mi Wen’s temperament, she wouldn’t tolerate He Linghan, and if Mi Wen found her, He Linghan’s fate would be dire.

"Why are you still being stubborn?" Mi Wen suddenly stood in front of him, her tone now cooler.

"Even now, you’re still thinking about her. Is it so difficult for you to forget her?" Mi Wen said coldly. Ye Shikai’s attitude caused her heart great pain, no less than the suffering Ye Shikai felt on that day.

"It’s something I should be asking you. Despite everything that’s happened, you’re like a ghost that won’t leave, even when I hide in the mountains, you still chase me down." Rage suddenly surged through Ye Shikai as he fiercely pushed away He Linghan, growing increasingly irritated by Mi Wen’s persistent presence, like a curse he couldn’t rid himself of.

"What wrong have I done to you?" Ye Shikai shouted loudly, leaving Mi Wen stunned. "No matter where I go, there you chase. What will it take for you to leave me alone?"

Before Mi Wen could reply, Ye Shikai turned to leave; even without the Storage Ring, he still had Inner Strength. He planned to gather the remaining Hidden Guards, hoping to obtain some useful information.

"She’s with me." Mi Wen suddenly said, causing Ye Shikai to stop abruptly.

"What did you say? She’s with you?"

"That’s right, she came to find me herself." Mi Wen’s words shocked him; He Linghan wasn’t captured by her but voluntarily sought her out.

"You wouldn’t harm her..."

"Relax, she’s fine now. I’ve settled her down." Mi Wen said casually.

"I... I apologize; my attitude was a bit aggressive earlier." Knowing He Linghan was with Mi Wen, Ye Shikai felt somewhat embarrassed, as he had yelled at Mi Wen just seconds ago...

"Could you let me see her?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"Do you know why she came to find me?" Mi Wen didn’t answer Ye Shikai’s question, instead steering the conversation elsewhere.

"I don’t know, why?" Ye Shikai was curious too; why would He Linghan knowingly walk into danger by seeking Mi Wen, who would harm her?

"I made a secret deal with her."

"A deal? What kind of deal could you two possibly strike?" Ye Shikai asked in disbelief; when things were peaceful, He Linghan and Mi Wen were never particularly close, and now they were rivals.

"I’m not afraid to tell you; the deal is quite simple: she’s exchanging her life for yours."

"What... what do you mean, all this about lives?"

"Simply put, she is willing to exchange her life to save yours."

Ye Shikai vaguely understood—on that day Mi Wen took him away, He Linghan must have assumed Mi Wen intended to kill him, prompting her to seek Mi Wen and offer her life in exchange for his.

"No, it can’t be, absolutely not." Ye Shikai found it impossible to accept; he couldn’t let He Linghan die, especially not because of him.

"I don’t agree to this deal, absolutely not." Ye Shikai roared hysterically, "Mi Wen, I’m begging you, you can hurt me, but don’t harm her."

"This deal isn’t between you and me, but between her and me. Still, she truly is compassionate; if it weren’t for her, perhaps in a fit of rage, I really would have killed you."

"We have already made the deal. I’ll spare you, but her life is now mine. Don’t bother trying to find her; the world is vast, and you will never locate her. If you insist on leaving, I will have to act ahead of time." Mi Wen’s threat was very effective; with He Linghan in her hands, she was Ye Shikai’s "lethal weak spot."

"Of course, if you’re willing to marry me, maybe I’ll soften and give her a dignified death."

Ye Shikai looked at Mi Wen’s face; he never imagined such a beautiful visage could hide such a venomous heart. Yet, at this moment, he truly had no choice. With He Linghan in Mi Wen’s clutches, ending her life would be as easy as crushing an ant.

Pfft.

Suddenly, Ye Shikai spit out a mouthful of blood; anger overwhelmed him, plunging him into extreme torment. A bloody taste filled his mouth, and Ye Shikai coughed repeatedly, blood dripping to the ground.

"Are you... are you okay?" Even Mi Wen was somewhat worried, seeing Ye Shikai’s uncharacteristic frenzy for the first time. Having just awakened from the Illusion Pupil’s lingering effects, his body was still weak; such acute distress was lethal to his health.

"Quickly, call a doctor."

"Alright."

"I’ll help you rest for a while." Mi Wen helped Ye Shikai onto the bed, feeling a pang of regret. She hadn’t intended for this to happen, yet she had infuriated him to the point of spitting blood.

An hour later.

"How is he?" Mi Wen asked; she had already transferred some of her Inner Strength, but it seemed he still needed medicinal care.

"Reporting to the master, he was overwhelmed by emotion, anger clouding his heart, causing him to cough up blood and faint. Resting for a while should allow him to recover."
