Inside the dressing room.
Mo Zhizi entered and immediately observed Qiao Ruoxin seated, her veil being adjusted by the stylist. The bride-to-be looked so stunning that even Mo Zhizi, a woman, was captivated.
“Sister-in-law,” Mo Zhizi greeted as she approached.
Qiao Ruoxin turned her head, offering a gentle smile. “Zhizi, you’ve arrived.”
“Yes, Sister-in-law. I wish you and my brother a joyous wedding.” Mo Zhizi presented the gift Simon had entrusted to her.
Qiao Ruoxin stood and accepted the gift box with both hands. “Thank you for your present.”
“You are most welcome.” Mo Zhizi paused, contemplating whether to reveal the gift was from Simon. However, recalling his specific request, she simply smiled.
“I must now go attend to our guests,” Mo Zhizi announced. “Your wedding is the main event, and we need to ensure our international visitors are well-looked after.”
Qiao Ruoxin placed the gift on a nearby table, then stepped forward to embrace Mo Zhizi. “Thank you, Zhizi. Please disregard anything I said earlier; I was merely worried about you. As long as you are happy, my brother and I will no longer interfere in your personal matters.”
“Sister-in-law, I am quite alright. Please continue getting ready. I’ll be leaving now.”
As Mo Zhizi exited the dressing room and closed the door behind her, she glanced back at Qiao Ruoxin in her wedding gown, a subtle smile gracing her lips.
…
Back inside the dressing room.
Qiao Ruoxin resumed her seat and picked up the white velvet gift box from the table, her curiosity piqued about its contents.
Upon opening the box, her expression shifted dramatically, and a slight tremor ran through her fingertips.
What was this…?
It was a diamond ring!
The very same diamond ring Simon had given her for her birthday!
Qiao Ruoxin’s eyes widened, and her heart began to pound erratically.
How could this have ended up in Mo Zhizi’s possession?
She turned, intending to find Mo Zhizi and demand an explanation. However, a peculiar fragrance suddenly reached her, emanating from the ring box.
A wave of dizziness washed over Qiao Ruoxin. She clutched her forehead, shaking her head, but the feeling of faintness intensified.
She slumped back into the chair, her vision blurring. Inevitably, she tipped forward, her head landing on the table as consciousness slipped away.
After an indeterminate period, Mrs. Mo entered, intending to check on the wedding preparations. Instead, she discovered the distressing scene.
Overcome with a wave of unprecedented panic, Mrs. Mo cried out, “Someone! Qiao Ruoxin has fainted!”
Hearing the urgent call, Mo Chen was the first to arrive.
He swiftly moved towards Qiao Ruoxin, gently touching her face. “Little Ghost? Wake up?”
The woman slumped on the table remained unresponsive, her face alarmingly pale.
The man’s expression instantly darkened. He tenderly lifted Qiao Ruoxin into his arms and turned to Xiaowu, who had also entered, shouting, “Prepare the car!”
Xiaowu hastily retreated, casting a concerned glance at Qiao Ruoxin cradled by Mr. Mo before quickly exiting the room.
Mo Zhizi also rushed in. Her gaze immediately fell upon Mo Chen holding the unconscious Qiao Ruoxin, and a flicker of alarm crossed her face. What had transpired?
When she had left just moments before, Qiao Ruoxin had been perfectly fine. How could she have suddenly collapsed?
And with so many guests awaiting the ceremony outside…
Mo Chen, his handsome features set in a grim line, remained silent as he carried Qiao Ruoxin out of the dressing room. Escorted by bodyguards, he headed towards the elevator.
Mrs. Mo followed closely, a newfound maternal concern swelling within her for Qiao Ruoxin.
“Don’t hold her so tightly; be gentler, allow her to breathe more easily,” Mrs. Mo urged, patting Mo Chen’s arm.
Mo Chen slightly loosened his grip, gazing down at the woman in his arms, his dark eyes filled with a profound tenderness.
