Reinhardt's past self confesses his love to Odeth, who is flustered but happy. She recalls their first meeting at a café, their subsequent encounters, and how he lent her his umbrella. Odeth later learns Reinhardt was conscripted into the army and went to war. After months of waiting, she encounters him again when he returns, noting how the war has changed him.

Up until now, this talent of his had been sleeping within his body. However, during the war, when out to test, it finally awakened.

Odeth looked at the man before her. After spending a couple of months on the frontline, the man had advanced significantly.

Right now, he was already comparable to a veteran soldier who had spent years, if not decades, on the battlefield.

"Hey, thanks for the coffee. I would have returned your umbrella. However, I didn’t know you would be coming today, so I didn’t bring it".

"Ah, no worries. Return it to me some other day".

"Alright. As thanks, I will treat you to coffee next time".

And so, that umbrella became the thread of fate that brought them together.

Sitting on the park bench, Odeth couldn’t help but recall their first meeting. Her emotions slowly steadied, and she couldn’t help but ask faintly.

"Would you protect me even if it meant going against everything you believe in?"

The man didn’t hesitate. In a calm, absolute manner, he spoke. "I don’t need to go against anything I believe in. I believe in protecting what matters. So yes. I will protect you."

A beat later, he added. "Even if the world is against you, I will always stand by your side".

The atmosphere around them immediately became soft and intimate.

Odeth didn’t speak immediately. When she finally did, her voice was softer than before. "That’s a dangerous kind of promise."

"I know."

The man didn’t deny it. Nevertheless, instead of shirking, his determination became even stronger. He placed his hand over hers and locked fingers with her.

"I swear it. If the day comes when everything else turns away from you... I will not. If the world stands against you... I will stand in its way."

A faint divine tremor echoed through the memory, reacting to something that was made on that day.

"I will protect you until the end".

"You really are unfair".

Odeth gazed at him, and a smile, beautiful enough to bewitch the world, bloomed on her face at this time.

"Then make sure to keep your promise in the future".

Reinhardt, who was observing from a distance, stood frozen in his place. His eyes widened, his body trembling intensely.

The vision was already shifting, the memory continuing on. Yet his heart was in turmoil, unable to move on after what he had just heard and witnessed.

The words echoed in his head.

Those lines, those exact words... the promise, the oath... he had spoken those exact same words before.

The realization struck him like lightning. The promise, the conviction behind the oath, even the cadence was the same.

The very same oath he had once made to another woman. A woman whose face he still could not fully remember. A woman hidden behind layers of forgotten memories.

A woman who occupied a place deep within his soul. The moment the realization surfaced, something within him cracked. A memory sealed within the deepest recess of his memory, unlocked.

Like a rusted gate finally beginning to move. Fragments of memory came surging. Feelings, voices, scenery.

Pieces of memories he had never been able to access before, or perhaps never knew were sealed within him.

Reinhardt instinctively grabbed his head. Not because the sensation was overwhelming, but because at this moment, he was starting to realize everything.

Like a dam breaking, the memory came rushing with a flooding intensity. At this moment, in this place... two lives that had been separated by more than a thousand years were slowly reconnecting.

Furthermore, influenced by his intense emotions, the vision shifted too.

The two figures disappeared, and in their place appeared a crimson sky with fires of destruction spreading everywhere.

The land shook, and a battlefield emerged before him. This was!! There is no way he could not recognize it.

The Battle of Black Tide.

The greatest crisis the Kingdom of Solaris had ever faced. This was the battle that had changed everything.

The battle that had nearly brought the kingdom to ruin. The battle in which he was plotted against and defeated.

The memory was his greatest, and also something closest to him. Because it was during the Battle of Black Tide, he met her.

Reinhardt looked at the familiar battlefield that stretched endlessly in all directions. Broken mountains, burning cities, rivers of black corruption cutting through the land. Even the air itself was poisoned.

Everywhere he looked, it was endless war. Knights from the Temple of Light and other various orders fought against the horde of demons to hold down the northern fort. Everywhere he gazed, he saw familiar faces, knights from his own order.

They were bloodied and wounded and were falling under the relentless assault of the demons. Yet even while facing impossible odds, they staked their lives and rushed towards the top of the fort where a man clad in platinum armor lay.

The man had a headful of long golden hair, a handsome face, and sharp features that would make him the dream of every woman.

Yet at this moment, he lay in a pool of his own blood, his eyes that were otherwise sharp and bright were now dim with a dark haze covering them.

His beloved holy sword Galgano, had slipped out of his hand and was now embedded in the ground far away from him. If one looked closely at his appearance, one would be able to notice his veins bulging and turning black.

A mysterious mark that was eerily similar to the demonic markings crawled on his skin. That’s right, he was cursed. The thing inflicting him was none other than the Curse of the Demon Lord.

Not far away lay the corpse of a woman with a sword plunged into her stomach. The scene was tragic and heartrending.

And then there was another figure, the opponent the Divine Paladin was facing.

Shrouded in darkness, its eerie eyes glowed crimson. Large bat-like wings unfolded from its back, and a barbed tail slammed on the ground. Its presence was so overwhelming that merely looking at it caused the surrounding reality to distort.

Black mist rolled around its body, and its form shifted constantly. Neither fully humanoid nor entirely monstrous. Its very existence seemed incompatible with the world.

Those in the know, and those present there who lived to tell the tale, would be able to instantly recognize who the being was.

The final opponent the Divine Paladin had to fight in the Battle of the Black Tide. The greatest enemy of that era. A being who stood above the likes of Demon Generals and even other Heavenly Kings.

A being that represented calamity itself. One of the middle ranking Heavenly Kings. The Seventh Heavenly King.

At this moment, it was laughing eerily as it looked at the Divine Paladin that lay defeated before him.

Not far away, Reinhardt looked at the memory with complex emotions.

At this moment, multiple figures appeared on top of the fortress. Donning platinum armor and capes with the insignia of one of the seven great orders of Solaris, they were none other than the knights of the Temple of Light.

The man leading them had short black hair, with one side of his face carrying a burnt scar. Yet despite that, the man still came off quite handsome. In fact, the scar only sharpened his fierce features.

The man was none other than the late Vice Commander of the Temple of Light, Sir Drystan Benedict. A Level 9 Extreme Knight, a knight famous throughout the seven kingdoms and smaller nations.

Beside him were Bob, Marcus, and other Holy Knights.

The moment they appeared, they were frozen by the scene that lay before them.

Seeing their commander defeated and exposed to the immense malevolence aura of the demon before them, fear crept into their hearts.

Just one look at the enemy was enough to give them an illusion of death.

How could a human face such a being? Even their commander was defeated. This was the end.

However, before the Holy Knights could break down, one man stepped forward and calmly gave orders.

Drystan looked at the battlefield. He spotted his grievously wounded commander, the dead body of his sister, and the Seventh Heavenly King. He immediately understood what went down here.

"Commander is cursed. All of you, take the commander away from here. I’ll take the battle from here".

Drystan calmly gave orders. Faced with the goosebump inducing malevolent aura, the Vice Commander of the Temple of Light did not cower.

Instead, he bravely stepped forward and faced the final opponent.

"Hurry up and do what I said. Commander cannot die here. The world still needs him. He will be the man who will bring a new dawn to this world". Drystan emphasized.

Bob and the others came to their senses and hurriedly came to the Divine Paladin’s rescue. Then they turned towards the Vice Commander, waiting for his order.

However, the order he gave...

"Just leave. I’ll catch up with you all later".
