The battlefield fell silent as previously rampaging monsters revealed three figures. These figures, appearing human but with dead eyes and marked skin, were quickly recognized as legendary heroes long thought dead: Aldric Stormborne, Cassius Dawnstar, and Magnus Ashenwall. Magnus Ashenwall immediately attacked, his incredible speed and strength overwhelming several knights. An Extreme Knight intercepted him, but Magnus proved a formidable opponent. The heroes, Leona, Orion, and Gareth, observed the fight, noting Magnus's fighting style differed drastically from historical accounts.

Leona then pointed at the other two, who were still standing in their place.

"It was said that Aldric Stormborne used lightning. But I don’t see any spear or weapon on him."

"Hm? Now that you mention it, Cassius Dawnstar was known for swordsmanship. But that man, or rather, none of them possess any weapon."

The three exchanged glances, their faces showing the same suspicions they were having. Same face, same presence, yet everything about them, from their combat style to their aura, was different.

Since every one of these heroes had died long ago, could it be that the Organization had stolen their bodies and done some experimentation on them?

Just as those thoughts arrived in their mind, up ahead, the figure fighting the Extreme Knight stopped.

The next instant, a twisted grin appeared on his face, and his power spiked abruptly all of a sudden.

Realizing the danger, the eyes of the two heroes contracted rapidly.

This is bad!

"Get back."

Gareth spoke, rushing toward the center of the battle. However, his warning came a second too late.

BANG... The Extreme Knight who had been exchanging blows with Magnus was unable to react to the sudden, terrifying spike in the latter’s energy and was struck violently in the chest.

The air twisted, the ground cracked. A surge of dark crimson energy exploded outward like a volcanic eruption.

Unable to resist the mountain crushing power, his entire body was launched backward like a cannonball, smashing through several stone pillars before disappearing into the distance.

The knights cried out in alarm, but their voices were drowned by the scene occurring right in front of their eyes.

The person they had identified as Magnus Ashenwall underwent a change. The dark markings on his body expanded across his skin. His muscles bulged, bones shifted unnaturally, and his skin tone quickly turned pale.

However, what was truly shocking, or rather terrifying, were the other changes his body underwent.

Two black horns slowly emerged from his forehead, curving backward like the crown of some devil.

A long tail burst from his lower back. His fingernails elongated into razor-sharp claws, and his eyes that were originally human pupils had vanished completely, turning a deep shade of crimson.

Furthermore, demonic energy poured from his body in endless waves. It was so dense that even breathing became suffocating.

The pressure from the current Magnus alone forced numerous Level 7 knights to retreat several steps.

"W-What is going on?"

"A demon? How is that possible? He was human just a moment ago."

The scene was so baffling that it rattled the Sixth Division of the Dawnbringers completely.

Faced with a reality so shocking, they were unable to process it.

But as they say, time and tide wait for no man. Right after Magnus unleashed his transformation, the other two also broke their stillness.

BOOOM... Twin pillars of demonic energy erupted into the sky. The figures identified as Hero Aldric and Cassius began transforming as well.

One grew nearly three meters tall. Black scales emerged across his body, and massive wings tore through his back.

The other transformed into something even more unsettling. Although his body remained mostly human, countless crimson markings spread across his skin.

Several eyes opened along his neck and shoulders, blinking independently. The sight of so many eyes alone caused one’s scalp to tingle.

Setting their abnormal looks aside, just the overflowing aura of strength exuding out of their bodies was enough to tell everyone that they could not be underestimated.

Heck, even the monstrosities in the surroundings instinctively retreated, fear and horror evident in their eyes. That fact alone spoke volumes.

The expressions of the two heroes became incomparably grave. The pressure emanating from the transformed trio had multiplied several times over.

"I want to say this is a bad joke, but looking at them now, I can’t help but swallow it down. Have you realized it?" Orion spoke. His usual lazy attitude was no longer to be seen. Gareth gave a heavy nod.

"This is no ordinary transformation. They underwent actual demonization and became demons. There is no doubt now, the Organization is behind this and they have succeeded in their goddamn lunatic research."

They had all seen it, the demonic markings spreading on the bodies of their enemies before they underwent the changes.

If they were not wrong, then the Organization had perfected demonic markings and engineered them to create man-made demons.

This was no joke; it was a cruel reminder, a slap in their faces to wake them up.

Even humans can be transformed into demons. Humans and knights who get corrupted by invading demonic energy become demonified entities, puppets of the demons. This was common knowledge.

However, the transformation that the three underwent went beyond simple corruption. It was like transcending a race, transforming into an entirely different one.

A chill swept through the battlefield. The implications were terrifying. The Organization had not only been conducting experiments, it had succeeded. And for them to suddenly come out and show their results meant one thing.

"Everyone, fall back into formation. We have fallen into a trap." Gareth spoke, standing in front of everyone to block the demonized, no, demon Magnus.

"Leave the powerful fellows to us. You all take care of the others." Orion dragged his spear on the floor as he stood beside Gareth.

Beside them, Leona appeared with a flash of starlight.

The knights behind followed orders and stepped back. With guards raised and weapons ready, they stared at the other monstrosities.

"I’ll take that one." Leona pointed her sword toward Demon Cassius Dawnstar.

The two heroes did not say anything. They merely nodded their heads. In this situation, there was no better alternative than letting Dame Leona take on one of the heroes while the rest of the knights reduced the enemies’ numbers.

Three against three, the battle next would decide the overall course of everything.

At this moment, three demons turned to face the heroes and smiled. It was a smile that was utterly devoid of humanity.

.

BOOM... There was no indication; the battle erupted suddenly.

Magnus moved first. The ground beneath his feet exploded. His enormous demonic body crossed dozens of meters in an instant.

A claw descended upon Gareth. The sheer force compressed the air into visible rings.

Faced with power that could tear through three meters of steel, Gareth showed no fear.

The veteran hero raised his sword and calmly met his opponent’s attack.

CLANG...

The collision sounded like two mountains smashing together. A violent shockwave erupted outward.

"This is a great opportunity to test my strength against a hero of the past. Although I don’t know if you can still be called a hero." Gareth grinned. Changing his grip, he flipped the enemy’s strength onto itself.

As if understanding what the knight said, Magnus roared in fury. His other arm transformed into a massive blade of black crystal and slashed sideways.

The strike was extremely swift. However, Gareth responded in time. Years of battle experience surfaced instantly.

His sword changed direction midway through the swing and met the attack. It was a perfect counter.

Crack... The crystal arm shattered into countless fragments. Magnus staggered back, a deep wound opening across his chest.

The nearby knights immediately erupted in cheers. However, the next second, the wound began healing almost immediately.

Magnus issued a demonic laugh, and his attacks became more fierce.

"Regeneration, huh. Not surprising. But in front of a hero, it’s not enough. I’ll cut you down so fast that not even your regeneration can keep up."

While Gareth kept one busy, Orion and Leona intercepted the other two.

Aldric tried to go after the backlines, using his extreme speed to cause chaos. However, in this battlefield, he wasn’t the fastest.

Swish... A spear came lunging, intending to pierce his heart. However, Aldric folded his wings just in time to barely deflect the attack.

The attack pierced through his wings and stabbed into his body. However, it missed his heart.

ZZTTTT... The next second, the spear lit up with a powerful energy and a smell of ozone appeared in the air.

Feeling the threat, the demon quickly backed away using his swift speed.

"I heard you used to be a lightning ability user just like me. However, looking at you now, it seems like you have forgotten what it means to be the swiftest person on the battlefield. Lightning is the swiftest and most destructive power in the world. Let me rekindle your memories from back then."

Thus, a fight broke out between Hero Orion and Demon Aldric. They exchanged blows at terrifying, no, blinding speeds.

Meanwhile, Leona squared off against Cassius. In just a few seconds, the battle had become increasingly dangerous.

The third demon, sporting numerous eyes, had uncanny movements and precise strikes that exploited the openings in her swings.

It possessed such observational power that landing any attack on it was extremely difficult. Almost as if it had been created solely for combat.

CLANG... Silver blade met black claws.
