The Queen revealed that the Kingdom of Rune has reformed its laws, granting rights to demi-humans, which provides Reinhardt with a new lead in his search for a High Elf. As the Queen led Reinhardt away from a court assembly, her husband witnessed their intimate connection with a disturbing mix of jealousy and obsession. Finding sanctuary in a secluded part of the palace, the Queen yielded control to Miranda, who expressed her reluctance to see Reinhardt depart. Reinhardt confirmed his need to leave to revive the World Tree but took satisfaction in witnessing the progress of the egg he previously entrusted to her.

The Queen, now returned to full command of her faculties, gazed at him with eyes brimming with complex emotions. "You truly did not need to offer me something of such immense value."

Minerva had already made it clear that this egg was a treasure without equal. It would have served Reinhardt far better, given its utility and rarity, yet he had insisted on gifting it to her. The gesture spoke volumes about his deep concern for her well-being.

"I swore a divine oath, and I fully intend to honor it," Reinhardt replied, letting his true purpose be known.

There was no denying the egg's exceptional nature. Even Reinhardt, with his arsenal of cheat-like abilities, had only managed to secure this single specimen.

In the hierarchy of rarity, it stood alone; it was an SUR (Super Ultra Rare) item that eclipsed even the most sought-after UR (Ultra Rare) artifacts.

Naturally, the creature destined to emerge from within would be far from ordinary.

Since he had pledged a divine oath to put her safety above all else, he needed to ensure she remained impervious to harm. The beast he had selected was undoubtedly the key to that security.

After studying the egg and calculating the time remaining until it would hatch, Reinhardt offered the Queen some arcane pointers on accelerating the process.

The advice left her countenance blushing with an immediate, deep crimson.

Seizing the moment, he offered a swift farewell and took his leave.

Just before he departed, the Queen issued a grave warning.

"Exercise caution near the borders. There have been reports of unsettling troop movements from the direction of the Kingdom of Lunaris."

Reinhardt gave a curt nod and set his sights on his next destination: the Kingdom of Rune.

They had traveled by sea on the previous journey, but the land route was also a possibility, albeit a much lengthier one. Now that he had reunited with Bob and the Order's contingent formerly stationed at Snowpoint City, the overland path was their only viable option.

Once the members of the Temple of Light gathered together, they commenced the long march toward the Kingdom of Rune.

The designated path was undoubtedly a long detour compared to standard roads. However, with Reinhardt leading the way, they were hardly going to follow a tedious route.

The Order blazed their own trail through jagged mountains and deep ravines, crushing any monster den that dared to obstruct their advance.

..

While the Temple of Light pushed forward, events were unfolding in a different corner of the world.

Within the western frontier, the sky was a chaotic tapestry of storms and fleeting sunlight, torn asunder by howling gales, while the terrain was dominated by a jagged, unforgiving mountain range.

The region was treacherous, with peril lurking behind every stony crag. Due to the staggering mortality rate, neighboring kingdoms had officially classified the area as a Class S forbidden zone.

Yet, amidst this lethal environment, two figures navigated a narrow stone bridge that stretched across a bottomless, yawning void.

One moved with complete composure, as if she were merely strolling through a courtyard.

The other, it would be fair to say, was not enjoying his excursion in the slightest.

"WHY IS THIS TRIAL SO RIDICULOUSLY AGGRAVATING?!"

Vengeance roared into the wind, his frustration peaking as a sudden, violent gust buffeted his frame, nearly hurling him from the bridge.

He was an formidable True Knight, possessing not only the broken holy skills bestowed by Reinhardt but also a mastery of the Transcendent State—and he was closing in on his next breakthrough.

Even a level 7 knight would likely struggle to hold their own against him, yet here he was, gasping to keep his footing.

This served as a clear indicator of why this region was designated a Class S forbidden zone.

While Vengeance labored, Silvia glided through the trial with effortless grace. She did not even glance back, her silver hair whipping in the wind like a defiant strand of starlight.

Whenever the gale-force winds threatened her, she neutralized them with a single, precise cut from her blade.

The ambient dangers posed little threat to her, as she was on the cusp of ascending to the ranks of Level 8 Elite Knight. Even so, the environment offered an excellent arena for honing the Fourth Light of the [Holy Sword Art].

"It was you who accepted the Altar’s trial. Try to avoid dying before we reach the end," she remarked without turning, stopping at the far side of the bridge.

"I AM NOT TRYING TO DIE!" Vengeance shrieked in response.

His irritation reached a boiling point at the trial's absurdity; hearing Silvia’s clipped words felt like throwing fuel onto a raging fire.

At that instant, a massive shadow blotted out the light above them.

Looking up, they beheld a colossal winged beast—a hybrid of wyvern and thunderhawk—soaring overhead, trailing arcs of lightning in its wake.

Silvia’s hand instinctively dropped to her pommel, while Vengeance could only slap his palm against his own forehead.

"Of course. We have to be guarded by a flying death chicken."

A legendary Class S Storm Sovereign would typically drive any adventurer to retreat in terror. Vengeance, however, remained unmoved.

Beyond his vocal disdain for the trial's mechanics, his expression remained devoid of fear.

Their presence in this Class S forbidden zone was no suicide mission; it was the next step on the path designated by the Altar for Vengeance.

After reaching level 6, progression became difficult. To advance further, one had to accrue significant contributions.

Contributions were collected through dangerous expeditions, service to local communities, or the slaughter of demons. Essentially, any act that left a net positive impact on the world served to build one's standing.

These points were vital, as they determined both one’s future class path and overall growth. Truly rare classes remained locked behind a requirement for high, unique contributions.

However, contribution alone was insufficient. Without passing an Altar-mandated trial, no knight could ascend to the next stage.

These trials acted as unique missions tailored to the specific nature and history of the individual knight, ranging from the extermination of abyssal creatures to the protection of civilians or the procurement of artifacts.

They were not predefined; they shifted based on the knight's own distinct path.

Completion of the trial, coupled with sufficient contribution, was the only way to advance.

Vengeance lacked no contribution; the missions he had undertaken with the Temple of Light were more than enough to qualify him for a rare class. The trial remained his final hurdle.

Following their departure from Snowpoint City, Vengeance and Silvia had visited the capital to consult the Cathedral’s Altar, which was where they had received this specific mission.

They had navigated to this Class S forbidden zone with one goal: to claim the egg of the Storm Sovereign.

Their trek had been guided by intelligence gathered from the local Adventurers Association, leading them to this inevitable confrontation.

"You bastard," Vengeance spat, drawing his sword to point squarely at the creature, "daring to show your ugly mug again? I’m going to turn you into dinner."

This was far from their first encounter. The beast had toyed with him repeatedly, even leading him into a pit of colossal Antlions once, an incident that had nearly cost him his life.

Little wonder he was so incensed.

Silvia sighed, already familiar with his volatile moods. "The trial is to secure the egg, Vengeance, not to engage in a duel. I can assist if this is becoming impossible for you."
