Lynn reviewed armor designs for his cavalry and archers, considering weight, defense, and repairability. While waiting for a new steel furnace, he inspected the textile workshop. Suddenly, Captain Gaspar arrived with urgent news from Kakasong City: Viscount Jon Zack could muster over seven thousand soldiers, and had recently held a secret meeting with his eight supporters.

Lynn shook his head. "I wouldn’t say I know him."

The very reason for his surprise,

was that he hadn't anticipated the spy Gasper had dispatched

would happen to infiltrate the very Manor that was actively sending spies to gather intelligence on Morgan Town.

Lynn continued, "There’s something vital I must inform you of, which you can then relay to the spies you’ve embedded, ensuring information flows smoothly between your operations."

"Zock Connally has dispatched a spy team into Morgan Town, and they have already been apprehended and are currently held by our soldiers."

"It would be far too unfortunate if your agents were to perish over such a trivial matter."

Gasper finally grasped the situation.

So this was the reason for Master Lynn’s surprise.

Gasper bowed slightly at the waist and said with deference, "My Lord, thank you for your timely warning."

Gasper felt in his heart

that the Master Lynn before him was more concerned about their well-being than they were themselves.

Under any other Lord, such crucial intelligence would never be shared!

Towards Master Lynn, Gasper’s heart swelled with an increased measure of admiration and unwavering loyalty.

Gasper elaborated, "The reason my dispatched spies were able to infiltrate their Manor..."

"is because, following the Manor Lords' response to Viscount Jon Zack and their return to their respective domains, they immediately initiated army recruitment and expansion!"

Lynn’s brows furrowed subtly.

Gasper proceeded with his report.

"Regarding the specifics of their meeting, I have not yet received any feedback."

"However, Master Lynn, what I can confirm with certainty is that the Manor Lords’ decision to recruit and expand their forces is undoubtedly linked to the meeting they attended!"

Prior to returning to Master Lynn’s territory, he had been pondering the sudden major expansion undertaken by those Manor Lords.

But now, hearing directly from Master Lynn,

that Lord Zok Connelly had actually sent spies to infiltrate Morgan Town.

The implication was clear!

Their target was Morgan Town—Master Lynn’s own territory!

A nascent sense of dread began to surface within Gasper’s heart.

Even though he and those spies were now operating under Master Lynn’s direction outside the territory,

and were only permitted to return home if essential intelligence needed relaying,

This was a measure to prevent exposure and ensure their safety.

Nevertheless,

their families remained inhabitants of Master Lynn’s land.

This territory represented their true home!

Knowing that a formidable external force intended to attack their homeland, how could he remain unconcerned?

The moment he finished speaking, Gasper’s eyes widened, anxiously awaiting Master Lynn’s command.

Observing Gasper’s somber demeanor, Lynn offered reassurance.

"Captain Gasper, there is absolutely no need for such tension."

"The territory’s strength is immense now—so powerful it will truly astound you."

"Even if Viscount Jon Zack were to lead a massive army to assault Morgan Town,"

"they would never succeed in breaching our defenses beyond the walls and the Weng City!"

Hearing the resolute conviction in Master Lynn’s voice,

Gasper’s previously unsettled heart immediately found its equilibrium.

He nodded with profound seriousness, parted his lips slightly, inhaled, and continued.

"I will diligently investigate the details of Viscount Jon Zack’s meeting with the Manor Lords as swiftly as possible."

"Apart from this urgent report, I have another matter to relay."

Without prompting from Lynn, Gasper pressed on.

"My Lord, Marquis Duca and Marquis Polk have initiated hostilities at Spirit Reef Port!"

A flicker of surprise reappeared in Lynn’s eyes.

"Please, continue."

Gasper nodded. "This intelligence was obtained from a Longship Merchant who had recently departed Spirit Reef Port."

"Marquis Polk’s army, numbering in the tens of thousands, exploited the cover of night to reach Spirit Reef Port."

"The torches ignited, becoming an ocean of fire that illuminated the landscape surrounding Spirit Reef Port."

"Beneath the torchlight stood row upon row of soldiers clad in Steel Armor!"

"They were equipped with armor, iron helmets, and weapons, maintaining disciplined square formations."

"Including heavy cavalry, heavy infantry, archers, and a contingent of formidable siege engines..."

"The army, arrayed in perfect formations, completely sealed off the perimeter of Spirit Reef Port, leaving no avenue for escape or entry."

"Even the harbor of Spirit Reef Port was secured and barred, preventing any soldiers dispatched by Marquis Polk from forcing their way in."

"Coincidentally, that Longship Merchant had just finished loading his cargo and set sail moments before the harbor was closed, and he was fortunate enough to witness the unfolding scene."

"He recounted how projectiles the size of millstones soared through the night, impacting the battlement crenellations with a deafening roar, shattering them."

"He described fireballs, coated in tar, streaking across the sky, leaving trails of flames as they descended into Spirit Reef Port."

The air itself seemed to carry the stench of death and despair as Gasper recounted the harrowing events. Thick plumes of smoke billowed upwards from Spirit Reef Port, accompanied by the chilling symphony of agonizing screams that clawed at the dark sky. Even though Lynn had not been present, Gasper's vivid narration painted a brutal picture of a large-scale conflict erupting before his eyes.

Stone projectiles and fiery orbs blazed through the darkness, battering the city's defenses. The walls groaned under the relentless assault, buckling and crumbling before collapsing into the heart of the city, reducing buildings to fiery debris. Flames erupted from countless structures, writhing and dancing with a voracious hunger, threatening to consume everything in their path. The silhouettes of the valiant defenders flickered against the infernal backdrop, their expressions etched with grim determination. Yet, beneath the hail of arrows and the shrapnel from shattered stone shots, many met their end. Their bodies, devoid of life and twisted in final agony, lay strewn across the ground, their warmth extinguished. At the base of the imposing walls, a macabre landscape of fallen bodies had accumulated, resembling dark hills. Amidst the crimson pools, a few desperate survivors, their bodies mangled and broken, crawled onward, their every movement a testament to their agonizing struggle.
