Lynn learns that the battle for Imperial Authority has officially begun, triggered by Marquis Duca's actions. Major noble houses have declared war on each other, and Marquis Polk is preparing to attack the occupied Spirit Reef Port. Lynn invites Mr. Grayson for drinks, where Grayson praises the potency of Lynn's gin and asks if Alan has recently transported goods to the territory. Lynn's expression shifts upon hearing Alan's name.

However, Lynn deliberately withheld certain details about Alan.

"He arrived in my territory around May," Lynn stated.

Grayson was indeed Alan’s business associate.

Yet, Alan, Kari, and Zod were also his partners in various ventures.

The trade competition among them did not directly involve Grayson.

Rather than risking offense and potentially reducing the volume of goods brought to his territory by speaking too much,

it was wiser to remain concise.

Perhaps, as Grayson suggested, his interest was merely born of curiosity.

Following Lynn’s response, Grayson opted not to press the issue further.

Instead, Grayson changed the subject, posing a question to Lynn.

"Master Lynn, has all the land within Morgan Town now been incorporated into your territory?"

Before Lynn could answer,

Grayson elaborated, "I learned this while I was at the Riverside Rest Tavern, waiting for goods to be unloaded from the longship at Fisherman’s Wharf."

"My knowledge comes from casual conversations overheard in the tavern."

"The locals mentioned that a lord had suddenly appeared in Morgan Town and completely ousted the previous manor lords."

"This individual had unified Morgan Town, which was previously fragmented under the control of various manor lords."

"Furthermore, this new lord received official recognition from Bishop Semo of the Kakasong City Church, who subsequently issued decrees to the church followers within the city!"

Lynn acknowledged this with a nod. "Yes, that is correct because I provide tithes to Semo."

"From the church’s perspective, Morgan Town is now officially part of my domain!"

Upon hearing Lynn's confirmation, Grayson’s eyes widened with increased admiration and envy.

Master Lynn had evidently expanded his territory to an impressive scale.

This achievement clearly indicated agricultural production capabilities that far surpassed ordinary standards.

His success in recruiting a military force of considerable strength

demonstrated a keen insight into talent management.

Moreover, Master Lynn’s ingenious use of the church’s influence to solidify his claim over Morgan Town’s land…

effectively making him the sole ruler of the town!

How could Grayson not feel envy and deep respect for someone capable of such accomplishments?

As Grayson continued to converse with Lynn, he shared news regarding the imminent conclusion of the war in the Portlands Empire.

He mentioned that Chronos, the Imperial Grandson, was poised to ascend the throne as the new Emperor of the Portlands Empire.

Audrey, too, was on the cusp of reaching the pinnacle of her life, set to become the power behind the imperial throne.

At that moment, George entered the tavern,

approaching Lynn and reporting, "Master, all the grain has been successfully unloaded from the carts."

Lynn gave a slight nod, his attention briefly returning to Grayson.

With a visibly flushed face, Grayson quickly downed the gin from his glazed cup.

He let out a burp and then asked, "Master Lynn, may Grayson proceed to select the glazed products first?"

"It’s not that Grayson doubts Master Lynn’s offerings."

"However, the noble lords of the Portlands Empire are exceedingly particular about their glazed products."

"Any perceived flaw or instance of dissatisfaction could lead to them refusing to purchase the items..."

"These glazed products, though fashioned from simple sand and rocks by your own hands, Master Lynn,"

"transform into coveted luxury items once presented to the discerning noble lords!"

"I can confidently state, without exaggeration..."

"that a masterfully crafted glazed item can command a price of ten, twenty, or even thirty to forty gold pounds."

"Considering the prior market value of barley, the amount of gold pounds required to purchase one glazed product could have bought thirty-six thousand pounds of barley."

"Nevertheless... it is considerably easier to amass gold pounds by catering to the affluent!"

Lynn listened to this, his expression revealing no trace of surprise.

He understood that families possessing wealth accumulated over several generations, or even dozens, were typically the nobility or great lords.

These individuals possessed substantial financial resources.

Their appreciation for luxury goods extended beyond mere functionality.

The primary allure lay in the ability to

utilize various exquisitely crafted items to showcase their noble status and elevated position.

The underdeveloped state of glaze-making technology in this world contributed to the scarcity of glazed products.

This scarcity, in turn, naturally inflated their value.

Coupled with the unique colors and lustrous sheen of the glazed items, and their elegantly diverse designs,

especially when sunlight filtered through them in a church, casting vibrant, colorful patterns and evoking a sacred, solemn atmosphere,

the glazed products acquired a mystical symbolic significance, highly prized by the noble lords.

The most crucial factor, however, was

that the exorbitant price of glazed products placed them beyond the reach of ordinary citizens.

This allowed them to serve as a clear differentiator from the common populace,

thereby reinforcing the privileged standing of the noble lords and preserving the established social hierarchy between the nobility and the peasantry!

Lynn and Grayson exited the tavern, walking side by side.

In contrast to Lynn’s measured pace, Grayson’s steps seemed lighter, almost buoyant.

They arrived at the Lord’s Square.

Lynn’s gaze drifted, briefly observing the captives who had finished their meal and were now resting.

He then addressed Grayson, "Mr. Grayson, it appears I must ask George to escort you for the selection process."

Grayson, standing beside Lynn, also noticed the distant group of captives observing their conversation.

He responded, "Master Lynn, please do not concern yourself with me. I will take my time to make my choices carefully."

"Your current affairs are of greater significance," Lynn replied, watching George escorting Grayson towards the Handicraft Workshop District.

Lynn then proceeded towards the forefront of the Lord's Square.

The captives situated beneath the trees naturally observed several armored young men approaching.

Based on the preceding slave merchant's conduct and bearing, they had already ascertained that the young man was the lord of this territory.

Standing nearby, Rose also noticed Lynn.

Addressing the captives, he commanded, "Your rest is concluded; stand to honor your Lord!"

Urged on by the soldiers and the clatter of their chains, this company of eight hundred captives begrudgingly rose.

In their estimation, this so-called lord was merely someone who had inherited land through fortunate birth.

Were their limbs not encumbered by chains, restricting their freedom of movement, they felt they could have dispatched such a lord with a single hand!
