System: Build My Own Territory Chapter 888 - 274: Summer Harvest Begins (10,000) (3)

As time passed, the town's population and its territory continued to expand significantly with the presence of the Heavenly Artifacts. If granted a secure environment and sufficient time, the development of his domain was a certainty. Even Lynn himself had not anticipated that within a mere year and a few months, he could transform this overgrown wasteland into an area of such magnitude! He temporarily set aside the thoughts swirling in his mind, dedicating his full attention to the barley harvest. Regardless of any potential unknown dangers that might arise later, securing the barley now was the utmost priority!
On the limestone path, Wilbur's face gradually shifted from confusion to comprehension, as if a revelation had dawned upon him. His eyes shone with a clear, bright light. Wilbur then turned his gaze towards Master Lynn, who was industriously working alongside the farmers, his heart filled with burgeoning admiration. He now understood that Master Lynn's earlier words were intended to teach him the principles of management! Even though Master Lynn had mentioned that a manager needn't toil like a farmer, he was still personally overseeing every detail... Wilbur, naturally, refrained from making any presumptuous guesses! How could the actions of a deity-like Master Lynn be something he could possibly comprehend? Withdrawing his gaze, Wilbur summoned several farmers and instructed them to push the wheelbarrows back to the town to fetch the mint water prepared by the cooks. He then mingled with the laborers, observing and ensuring their work progressed smoothly.
...It wasn't until the afternoon that Lynn, his body heated and scorched by the sun, handed his serrated scythe to a nearby farmer. He then departed from the farmland, stepping onto the limestone road. Brushing the dirt from his shoes at the roadside, Lynn cast a glance back at the barley harvest site. Indeed, for the townsfolk, a clear division of labor was the most effective method for enhancing work efficiency. From the farmers' harvesting to the subsequent transportation, everything was proceeding in an orderly fashion. After assessing the situation, Lynn made a rough mental calculation. Three thousand farmers had spent the day harvesting nearly six thousand acres of barley fields! This meant each farmer had harvested approximately two acres in a day – a pace that was neither too fast nor too slow! If this rate were applied to the more than fifty thousand acres of barley fields, the three thousand farmers could complete the entirety of the barley harvest in about ten days! Of course, Lynn understood that ten days represented only the initial harvesting phase. The tasks of threshing, winnowing, drying, and sorting would still follow. Even with the Karedi Empire's current favorable weather, which hovered around twenty degrees, at least another half a month would be necessary! If this batch of barley yielded a bountiful harvest, given the limited drying space in the Lord's Square, Lynn estimated the required time would certainly extend beyond half a month. Fortunately, with the Weather Forecast, he possessed the ability to anticipate the weather conditions for each upcoming day. The next month promised clear, sunny skies! This was the advantage of a temperate oceanic climate – no severe winter cold, no extreme summer heat. Once the five-thousand-acre barley and vegetable harvest was concluded in ten days, at least three thousand farmers could be redeployed to continue reclaiming the overgrown wasteland, opening up more arable land for future cultivation.
Pulling back his gaze, Lynn was about to head back into town when the sound of approaching hoofbeats grew louder. Lynn turned to see Avery riding towards him. Avery, mounted on his horse, naturally noticed Lynn, not only because of his silk attire, which set him apart from the common townsfolk, but also due to Lynn's tall, slender figure and the commanding aura he exuded. Avery used his arm strength to bring his horse to a halt. "Whoa!" he exclaimed. Swiftly dismounting, Avery strode forward, stopping about three meters in front of Lynn. He then bent at the waist, speaking with deference, "Lord!" Lynn acknowledged him, inquiring, "Returning to town, is there anything that requires attention?" Avery, wasting no time, replied directly, "Master, on the right side outside the city wall, near the forest and leading towards Morgan Town, the Outpost Fortress and its surrounding defense structures are completed. On the left side outside the city wall, amidst the pile of rocks, the Outpost Fortress and surrounding defense structures are also finished. Please provide the next instructions to the Stonemason Workshop." Listening to Avery's report, Lynn activated the Holographic Map. Presented on the map was a view of at least forty thousand acres of overgrown wasteland beyond the city walls, now unlocked. Just as Avery had described, although the two Outpost Fortresses and their associated defense structures could not completely seal off the areas near the city walls like a continuous city wall, they could effectively obstruct an enemy's advance, channeling them like a constricted throat. Any invading army would be forced to confront the obstruction of the Outpost Fortresses before they could launch a direct assault on the city walls!
Lynn dismissed the Holographic Map with a mere thought. Lynn then addressed Avery, inquiring, "How many individuals are presently engaged in the Stonemason Workshop?" Avery pondered for a moment before replying, "Master, there are still eight hundred." Nodding, Lynn instructed, "Very well, you must select two hundred from those eight hundred to begin crafting stone rollers, which will be utilized for threshing barley!"
