Sword God in a World of Magic Chapter 1024 Â 1024 - Silence
Gregorio was gripped by a whirlwind of conflicting emotions.
One side of him believed he had morphed into the very abomination he had always vowed to annihilate.
Protecting life had always been of utmost importance to Gregorio. The Lightning Manor had prohibited the reading of memories, after all. Furthermore, he had chosen to pursue the Child of Calamity voluntarily for the world's benefit.
Yet, Gregorio now stood poised to join those who would wipe out every trace of life across the globe.
They were the mighty elite, ready to exterminate all inferior beings.
Still, Gregorio burned with curiosity to behold the emergence of the legendary level six Concepts of Life and Death.
On top of that, his thrill intensified for the prospects awaiting him beyond Aterium.
Gregorio turned his gaze toward Shang.
Shang's power had soared to unimaginable depths.
If Shang couldn't lead them from this world, no one possibly could.
Meanwhile, Kali observed the world with rapt fascination.
Grasping the level six Concept of Death had been her lifelong ambition.
And now, that ambition teetered on the brink of fulfillment.
Abaddon regarded the world with a genial smile.
Joy swelled within him.
At long last, fresh knowledge beckoned!
"Then, let's start," Shang said.
The other three nodded.
"I will now eliminate every bit of life one layer at a time."
As Shang surveyed the world, excitement stirred within him too.
Shang had never enacted a true genocide, and he wondered what it would feel like to obliterate all life.
SSSSHH!
Silence enveloped everything.
Hundreds of minuscule Domains of Entropy had sprung up around each living Mage Lord at that instant.
All Mage Lords perished in under a second.
A faint Mana ripple swept the world, barely registering.
SSSSSHHH!
Next, tens of thousands of Domains of Entropy slew every human in the Sixth Realm.
The Mana storm intensified slightly, though not by much.
From this point, humanity's strongest resided in the Fifth Realm.
SSSSHHHHH!
Humans of the Fifth Realm then vanished.
By now, most survivors comprehended the catastrophe, yet before any action, they dissolved into Neutral Mana as well.
With merely mortals and First Realm individuals remaining, Shang shifted his focus to structures and habitations rather than lives.
Vast Domains of Entropy then materialized around every village, town, city, ruin, castle, and the like.
WHOOOOM!
A massive Mana tempest surged across the world, transforming even Mana Stones into Neutral Mana.
Everything had been erased.
The Lightning Manor had disappeared.
The enormous sword in the Hibye had disappeared.
The Trial of Want.
The Temple of Blood.
Area 23.
The Empires.
The homes of the Mage Kings.
The farms.
The fields.
Everything had vanished.
It was over.
Humanity ceased to exist.
For some time, the group absorbed the sensation of a world devoid of humans.
Not a single trace of humanity lingered.
Meanwhile, Shang pondered his own sensations.
It felt profoundly conclusive.
Shang anticipated numbness, yet oddly, a subtle sense of wrongdoing lingered.
Still, that sensation remained faint.
At best, it echoed like a distant whisper.
Gregorio sensed his heart on the verge of stopping.
Humanity stood eradicated.
The unimaginable had transpired.
Unreality permeated the moment.
Kali and Abaddon, meanwhile, embraced a deep sense of completion.
This was the natural order.
This felt just right.
"I was supposed to strengthen the warrior Path," Shang chuckled thoughtfully to himself.
"And now, I've destroyed it."
"All the knowledge, techniques, and experiences I have built have now been eradicated."
"If any human returns, they won't ever find out that there have once been stronger humans."
"Well, unless the Archivist tells them."
"A virgin world," Shang said with a dark chuckle. "Untouched by humanity."
"A world ripe for exploration and exploitation."
Silence.
The others simply listened to Shang.
"Let's start with the next layer," Shang said.
WHOOOOM!
A fierce Mana storm abruptly swept the world.
Though Shang had wiped out humanity, beasts remained untouched.
In truth, slaying humans of the Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Realms had left beasts unscathed.
Now, Shang eliminated all Beast Kings.
A second passed, and all Beast Lords fell.
Another second, and every Ancestral Beast perished.
A cataclysmic Mana storm ravaged the world once more, fading within a minute.
All beasts lay dead.
An unearthly quiet descended upon the world.
Scattered weak animals dotted the hushed landscape.
These frail creatures alone produced sounds.
SSSHHH!
Land and sky animals transformed into Mana next.
Then, the fish.
Finally, the puny insects.
Silence.
Eerie silence.
Eternal silence.
The world fell utterly still.
The Eternal Ocean grew tranquil.
The trees swayed merely a little in the wind.
The weather itself had grown almost unnoticeable.
Mana released by the mighty beasts in Aterium controlled the climate and weather.
Without those powerful beasts anymore, their potent Mana no longer emanated, making the weather essentially cease to exist.
"And now, for the finale," Shang said as he swung one of his tendrils.
The next instant, a dark wave expanded across the continent
The dark wave started to spin, transforming everything it swept over into barren gray and brown terrain without any plants.
Within only one minute, the wave had swept through the whole of Aterium.
Finally, a massive forcefield surged through the Eternal Ocean, annihilating everything in it too.
Chaos seized the Eternal Ocean, with waves thousands of kilometers high smashing against the barrier
But that held no significance.
Everything stood lifeless and gray in any case.
Kilometers of water could engulf the entire continent, yet no life would perish.
"And the finishing touch," Shang said.
Immediately, Death Mana converged around Shang.
A mighty surge of Death Mana swept over the whole world, waters included.
One more minute passed, and all dispersed Life Mana throughout the world was gone.
That was all.
The last remnants of Life Mana across the world lingered only in Shang, Gregorio, Kali, Abaddon, and the Archivist.
No single seed from any grass blade had survived.
No more life would arise.
Unless one of those five or Lucius chose to interfere, life would never return.
Never
It proved impossible.
It was done.
Aterium lay transformed into a lifeless world.
The world halted all motion.
Silence.
