Switched Marriage: The Coddled Little Wife Chapter 802: Epilogue (Part 9)

Old Sir He felt the urge to grab a pillow and hurl it at him. "You only just put it on; how could it possibly show results so quickly?"
Qin Yang wore a look of grievance. "Didn’t I mention that I required the type that works immediately?"
Given his Master’s extraordinary medical expertise, solving such a minor issue should have been effortless for him.
However, he kept the latter thought to himself, terrified that his Master might actually kick him out of the house.
Since the day was still young, he figured he might as well wait a little longer.
Another fifteen minutes ticked by, yet there was no change. At this point, Qin Yang’s patience had completely evaporated.
If he didn't head back soon, Xiaxia would definitely start to worry about him.
Just then, He Jianshe arrived, pushing his bicycle through the gate. He was greeted by the sight of his father brandishing a broom and chasing his brother-in-law out of the residence.
His brother-in-law was typically a composed man and even held a leadership position at work; how could his father just start hitting him like that?
It seemed the old man’s temper had truly become unbridled with age.
He Jianshe hurriedly parked his bike and stepped in to intervene, seizing the broom from his father’s grip.
Then he caught a glimpse of his brother-in-law’s face and gasped.
"Dad, can't everything be settled with a conversation? How did he end up looking like this?"
His face was a mess of bruises.
Knowing how filial his brother-in-law always was, he couldn't believe the man had committed any serious offense.
Hearing this, Old Sir He was so incensed that even the hairs of his beard seemed to curl. "Who hit him?"
"You did! I saw you with my own eyes chasing my brother-in-law. You were really relentless this time."
Old Sir He glanced around, feeling that if one son-in-law wasn't enough trouble, another had arrived to join him.
Perhaps he should just give them both a beating.
Fearing Old Sir He might get too worked up, Qin Yang quickly offered an explanation to He Jianshe.
"Senior Brother, this is all a misunderstanding. Master didn't cause these injuries. I came to ask Master for some ointment, but I wasn't satisfied with how fast it worked, which is what made Master angry."
"The effect isn't good? Are you talking about the one kept in the drawer?"
When Qin Yang nodded, He Jianshe looked bewildered. "That ointment is incredibly potent; it can reduce swelling in a night and clear bruises within two days. When exactly did you apply it?"
"About half an hour ago."
He Jianshe: "..."
Honestly, the beating was well-deserved.
After all, his father could never tolerate anyone questioning his medical proficiency.
However, He Jianshe’s focus soon returned to the state of Qin Yang’s face.
"What happened? Were you in a brawl? Why did you fight? How many people were against you?"
Qin Yang: "..."
His Senior Brother’s professional habits certainly surfaced at the most random times.
....................
In the end, Lin Chuxia inevitably saw the truth.
Since she knew Qin Yang had gone to confront Gu Peng, the injuries on his person didn't come as a surprise to her.
"You told me to put those matters out of my mind, yet you were the one who couldn't let it go."
In that moment, she had to concede that it wasn't just a woman's intuition that was sharp; sometimes, a man's sixth sense was just as precise.
From the very first day Gu Peng appeared at her side, Qin Yang had displayed an inexplicable enmity toward him. It was the first time he had ever shown such a strong opinion about someone in her circle.
Lin Chuxia didn't say much about the incident; she was simply relieved that Qin Yang hadn't come out on the losing end.
"With you looking like this, I'm concerned it might interfere with your work tomorrow."
"I'm not worried about that." Now that he had released his pent-up frustration, a little scolding was a small price to pay.
After a moment of thought, Lin Chuxia decided to use some spiritual spring water to help wash his wounds.
....................
News of Gu Peng’s resignation failed to surprise Lin Chuxia.
Knowing he had vacated his position at the company actually brought her a sense of peace.
Out of everyone affected by Gu Peng's departure, Wang Tianyu likely felt the impact the most.
Ever since Gu Peng joined the firm, Wang Tianyu had regarded him as a rival and a benchmark for success.
After all, the man held the same role and was clearly held in high esteem by Mr. Lin.
Then there were his skills.
Wang Tianyu’s attitude had shifted from initial dismissal to direct competition, and finally to secret admiration.
This was especially true after they had swapped office locations and exchanged their current projects.
The moment he took over Gu Peng's responsibilities, Wang Tianyu found himself struggling to keep his head above water.
Whether it was overseeing the business in Yan City or managing the herbal medicine cultivation base, the complexity and workload were far greater than anything in An City.
Yet Gu Peng had handled everything with perfect efficiency.
Wang Tianyu had silently promised himself many times that he would work harder—not necessarily to beat Gu Peng, but at least to keep pace with him.
Just as he was pushing toward those goals, his target had suddenly vanished.
"Mr. Lin, is it possible that Assistant Gu was unhappy with the assignment in An City? Or maybe he didn't want to leave Yan City? If that's the case, I could..."
From their time working together, Wang Tianyu knew Gu Peng deeply respected Mr. Lin and was committed to being his right-hand man.
He had clearly noticed Gu Peng’s hesitation about moving to An City.
If Mr. Lin had only swapped their locations to be considerate of his sister's feelings after his own complaints, it would be a terrible shame for Mr. Lin to lose such a talented assistant because of it.
Lin Chuxia gave a small smile. "Don't overthink things; it has nothing to do with you. Just stay focused on your tasks. I'll find someone else for An City. The deployment at the herbal medicine cultivation base has already started, so it's vital to monitor it closely. Go visit a few times if you have to."
"I understand, Mr. Lin. Don't worry, I've been keeping a sharp eye on it."
Relieved that he wasn't the cause of the resignation, Wang Tianyu felt much better.
Lin Chuxia quickly appointed a replacement for Gu Peng’s duties in An City.
Operations in both An City and Yan City continued without a hitch, as if the departure of a single assistant was of no consequence to anyone.
Lin Chuxia hoped that Gu Peng could also move on and start fresh.
She was confident that with his talents and a lifetime of experience, he could build an even more illustrious future.
....................
As the grass turned green and birds took flight, the weather grew warmer, and people began to trade their heavy winter coats for lighter clothing.
"Mr. Lin, a fax just arrived from Yun City. The planting area for Angelica sinensis at our herbal medicine cultivation base has reached 3,000 acres. Other medicinal varieties have reached significant scales as well. Vice County Magistrate Zhang and County Magistrate Zhao are very eager for us to establish a pharmaceutical factory in Yun City. They’ve invited us for a field inspection whenever we are ready."
Lin Chuxia reviewed the fax with a satisfied expression. "It’s time we paid them a visit."
That landscape of mountains and rivers would surely be even more stunning if it were filled with the scent of blooming herbs.
"Also, the Qingyuan County Magistrate called. They are also hoping for a visit and specifically pointed out the success of their herbal medicine cultivation in Qingyan Town..."
As he spoke, Wang Tianyu couldn't hide a mocking smirk.
He hadn't been present for the previous inspection, but he had heard plenty about how the people of Qingyan Town had treated Mr. Lin.
Now that they saw Yun City’s success, they were suddenly in a hurry. Why hadn't they been so proactive before?
"There's no need to concern ourselves with them for now. We will stick to the original plan."
Even if the cultivation base needed to expand later, Lin Chuxia had no intention of considering Qingyuan County as long as the current leadership remained in power.
While they were conversing, the telephone rang.
Lin Chuxia picked up the receiver, only to hear Qin Jianjun’s frantic voice on the other end. "Fourth Aunt, you have to get to the clothing mall right away, something terrible has happened..."
