Sweet Adorable Wife, Please Kiss Slower! Chapter 5 - A Kiss of Affection

Lin Wanwan stifled the urge to roll her eyes and feigned ignorance. She continued to probe, “Do I know you? My father warned me against getting into cars with strangers.”
Lu Zhanbei cast a sideways glance at her, his expression unreadable. He seemed to be appraising her with ease, yet an imposing pressure emanated from him.
Instinctively, Lin Wanwan straightened her posture and sat up, a nervousness akin to that of a primary school student facing a headmaster prickling her.
This sight momentarily reminded Lu Zhanbei of his younger brother's childhood punishments, sparking a playful impulse.
“You can call me Uncle Lu.” This indirect answer merely skirted the issue yet again.
“...”
Lin Wanwan continued her charade of feigned innocence. “Would an uncle kiss his own niece?”
Lu Zhanbei tilted his head slightly, his gaze meeting those unforgettable eyes. The memory of their kiss surfaced unbidden.
A fleeting, feather-light tingle resonated in his heart, though the sensation vanished as quickly as it arrived, its impact negligible.
“A kiss of affection.”
“Since you're my uncle...” Lin Wanwan extended her hand. “Where is my welcome gift?”
Lu Zhanbei placed a white business card, trimmed with gold borders, into her palm. The card bore only a series of numbers and the distinguished name: Lu Zhanbei.
Lin Wanwan fought to conceal her evident disappointment, saying, “Uncle, has anyone ever told you that you're quite a tricky person?”
His subordinate and driver, Gu Mo, was rendered speechless by her audacity.
In the entirety of Xia country, fewer than ten individuals possessed his master's business card—a coveted item that politicians and tycoons alike would grovel for.
And *she* dared to look down on it?
Lu Zhanbei's expression remained unchanged. “They have. Therefore, I'll offer you another promise. Should you find yourself in trouble in the future, you may seek me out... thrice.”
Lin Wanwan’s lips trembled slightly.
Never mind. They were strangers, after all. The fact that he was willing to offer his assistance three times was already exceedingly generous.
Even without a stated reason for his help, she wasn't truly foolish. Why would she refuse such a windfall?
“Thank you.” Lin Wanwan tucked the business card away with delight.
Hearing her gratitude, Lu Zhanbei felt a flicker of uncertainty resurface.
Based on his observations thus far, apart from a slight naivety and innocence, the word 'fool' seemed entirely unconnected to her.
Was the rumor flawed? Or... had she been acting this entire time?
“Oh, right. Could you send me back to the Lin family residence?”
Lu Zhanbei closed his eyes, attempting to quell the tumultuous thoughts in his mind. “Certainly. You have two more opportunities remaining.”
Lin Wanwan blinked, needing a moment to process.
“Is this considered one chance?”
Without a second thought, she reached out, pulled open the car door, and flung herself out, tumbling onto the ground a couple of times.
This unexpected maneuver caused Lu Zhanbei's expression to shift subtly. As he motioned for Gu Mo to halt the car, he quickly peered outside.
“Don’t worry, Uncle. I’m perfectly fine.”
Lin Wanwan rose, bestowing upon him a smile that outshone the sun.
“I’ll head back on my own, so you still owe me three chances!”
Gu Mo’s lips twitched. How could this be considered owing? It was patently obvious the three chances were a gift freely given.
“Bye!”
Lin Wanwan waved and began to walk away normally. Then, remembering her supposed persona, she took a few joyful hops before running off.
Gu Mo inquired, “Sir, should we pursue her?”
