Supreme Divine Physician in the City Chapter 1579: Japanese Samurai
Previously on Supreme Divine Physician in the City...
Had they not witnessed it firsthand, they would have easily dismissed Ye Xuan as just another villager!
Meanwhile, Su Qinian felt an overwhelming surge of joy at the workers' praise. His spirit soared, making him almost forget his own injuries.
As a father, is there a sweeter sound than hearing one's son, or son-in-law, lauded for their excellence?
Su Qinian was, by all appearances, an ordinary man.
However, he hadn't always been this way...
"Haha, it's just luck, pure luck!"
Su Qinian chuckled, waving his hand dismissively, though his eyes danced with unconcealed pride and satisfaction.
It was as if he were broadcasting: Yes, my son-in-law is THIS remarkable, so go ahead and be envious! Hahaha!
The group of workers suddenly lost their appetite for further praise.
"Director, you're practically beaming!"
...
With little left to accomplish in Qingfeng Town and Su Yumo, being the diligent person she was, eager to return to her work, Ye Xuan decided to take her back towards East Sea shortly after.
Yet, the journey back was noticeably slower than their arrival.
"Hurry up, Ye Xuan, drive a bit faster. Didn't you say you're a great driver? It's past noon already, and if we don't get back soon, I'll practically miss a whole day's work!" Su Yumo urged, a hint of anxiety in her voice.
"What's the hurry? The entire company is ours; we can do as we please," Ye Xuan responded with a casual shrug.
"You can't just say that. The CEO places a lot of trust in me, so I have to do my job properly!" Su Yumo insisted. "If you're intentionally driving this slowly, I'll get upset with you!"
"Alright, alright."
Ye Xuan relented, having no choice but to increase their speed.
Only then did a look of contentment grace Su Yumo's features. Her luminous eyes flickered, and she suddenly leaned in, bestowing a swift peck on Ye Xuan's cheek.
Like a dragonfly alighting briefly, she pulled back before Ye Xuan could fully process it, beaming with happiness. "Ye Xuan, you're so sweet, this is your reward, my Best Son-in-Law!"
"Best Son-in-Law?" Ye Xuan blinked in surprise, then chuckled with playful interest. "Shouldn't I receive a medal or something for that? Perhaps a trophy?"
"Ah..." Su Yumo's expression faltered slightly. "A trophy too?"
"Just kidding." Ye Xuan shook his head, a thought striking him. "But since you're praising me so highly, we should embrace it. How much debt does your family still have? I'll clear it all for you."
He had learned about Su Qinian's outstanding debts to various relatives during their trip.
Su Yumo gasped at his words, then vehemently shook her head. "No, absolutely not!"
"Why not? My money is your money," Ye Xuan said, rolling his eyes with feigned exasperation.
"I just can't!" Su Yumo declared with stubbornness. "I'm staying with you, and if I were to take your money, our relationship would fundamentally change!"
Ye Xuan offered a wry smile, finding himself at a loss with Su Yumo's unwavering resolve.
He understood her reasoning, though; their relationship wasn't one of genuine marital status, and accepting his money without that foundation would, in her eyes, compromise her pride, even if unspoken.
"How about this," Ye Xuan proposed after a moment's thought. "I'll lend you the money. You can settle your outstanding debts first. Once you're in a better financial position later, you can repay me. What do you say?"
"Borrow your money?" Su Yumo hesitated.
"It's a genuine loan. We'll draft an IOU, and I'll even charge you interest!" Ye Xuan laughed. "For me, it's a sound business investment. For you, it's a way to consolidate your debts neatly, making it a win-win situation, right?"
"Hmm..." Su Yumo lowered her head, considering the proposal before finally nodding. "Alright, let's do that. I'll ask Dad to compile a list of all the family's debts!"
"Now that's the spirit."
Ye Xuan beamed with satisfaction, appreciating this particular quality of Su Yumo.
So easily persuaded!
Meanwhile, Su Yumo had already initiated a call to Su Qinian, beginning the process of gathering information on the Su Family's total indebtedness.
But at that very moment.
Bang!
A sudden, resounding crash echoed from the road ahead.
Ye Xuan, momentarily lost in admiration of Su Yumo's beauty, instinctively slammed on the brakes at the sound. The abrupt stop nearly sent them flying; even Su Yumo's phone was jolted from her hand.
"What on earth was that?"
Both their gazes snapped forward, their brows furrowing simultaneously.
About twenty meters ahead, a figure stood on the road, appearing remarkably out of place.
Beneath the figure's feet, the ground was fractured, a crater spanning several square meters.
"This is a master!"
"A master, and a peculiar one at that."
Judging by his appearance, he looked to be around fifty, with hair as white as snow but a face unlined by wrinkles. He exuded vitality, possessing a contained yet potent aura.
He was dressed in a kimono and traditional wooden clogs, a katana secured to his back. His expression was unreadable, but his sharp eyes blazed with intense, fierce energy.
His eyes alone seemed to possess the sharpness of the blade he carried.
His distinctive attire left no room for doubt; it was immediately apparent what sort of individual stood before them.
From the Northern Federation, a Samurai!
Ye Xuan's brow infinitesimally creased. Even through the tinted car window, he could keenly sense that this peculiar figure from the Northern Federation was among the exceptionally rare masters he had encountered since his ascendance.
Even more formidable than Zhao Yunfei!
Naturally, this exclusion extended to his own mentor, whose true capabilities Ye Xuan still found difficult to accurately gauge...
"Ye Xuan..."
Witnessing the appearance of this strange person, Su Yumo's complexion grew distinctly pallid, her gaze fixed on Ye Xuan with palpable worry.
"Don't fret, everything is under control."
Ye Xuan's consciousness returned from its daze, and with a reassuring smile, he patted Su Yumo's thigh. "He harbors a lethal intent, yet lacks overt hostility. You remain inside the vehicle; I shall go and address him."
With that pronouncement, Ye Xuan opened his door and stepped out.
Su Yumo remained seated in the car, utterly bewildered and struggling to comprehend.
No hostility, yet intent to kill – what could this possibly signify?
Logically, should not hostility precede the intention to kill?
...
The stretch of road connecting the urban expanse to Qingfeng Town, a route traversing rural landscapes, saw minimal vehicular traffic. In this particular segment, especially, with at least three diverting branches and shortcuts, the highway, though broad, would often see no car for an entire half-day.
An unnerving quietude permeated the air.
A gentle breeze swept past, playfully rustling the graying hair of the Northern Federation Samurai.
Snap!
Positioned before the vehicle, Ye Xuan, with his characteristic nonchalance, lit a cigarette.
Inhaling deeply from the plume of smoke, Ye Xuan cast a narrowed gaze upon the Northern Federation Samurai, a light chuckle escaping him. "Have you come with the intent to end my life?"
The Samurai surveyed Ye Xuan twice. "Are you Ye Xuan?"
Ye Xuan responded with a laugh. "Indeed, no mistake. What? Am I not quite what you envisioned Ye Xuan to be?"
"Slightly," the Samurai conceded with a nod. "But only by a small margin."
Ye Xuan uttered, "Oh?"
