The sound of the door caused everyone to spin around.
At that moment, a group entered the room. Leading the way were Su Wanqiu and Su Qingmei, as expected.
Yang Luo followed quietly behind them.
“Qingmei, Wanqiu, you’ve arrived,” Su Wenfeng said, his expression heavy with sorrow as he greeted them.
“Big Brother, how is Father doing?” Su Wanqiu asked with urgency.
Su Qingmei also fixed a hopeful gaze on Su Wenfeng.
With eyes turning red, Su Wenfeng shook his head. “Divine Doctor Huang said... Father... will not survive past midnight tonight...”
The moment those words were uttered, Su Wanqiu and Su Qingmei staggered, nearly collapsing to the floor.
Tears blurred Su Qingmei’s vision as she sobbed, “Impossible... Grandpa won’t die!”
“Divine Doctor Huang, is there truly no other way?” Su Wanqiu’s face was wet with tears as she pleaded with Huang Tai’an.
“I am sorry, but I am powerless here,” Huang Tai’an answered. He then shifted his gaze toward Yang Luo. “Kid, were you the one questioning my diagnosis just now?”
“That’s right, it was me,” Yang Luo confirmed with a nod.
Standing nearby, Tang Dexin frowned and demanded, “Kid, do you have any idea who you are talking to? This is the premier divine doctor of Jiang City, Miracle Doctor Huang, the legendary ‘Divine Needle King’! Since Divine Doctor Huang has made his judgment, it must be the truth! What qualifications do you have to doubt his words?”
Yang Luo let out a soft chuckle. “Can just anyone be called a divine doctor these days?”
This remark sent the room into an immediate uproar!
“Kid, do you realize what you’re saying? This is Divine Doctor Huang. He has practiced medicine for thirty years and has saved thousands of lives!”
“Divine Doctor Huang serves as the director of the Chinese Medical Association. He is the universally recognized number one miracle doctor in Jiang City. How dare you question him!” The attending doctors spoke up one by one, clearly irritated by Yang Luo’s boldness.
Huang Tai’an narrowed his eyes at the young man. “Kid, based on your tone, are you claiming you can treat Old Master Su?”
“How hard could it be?” Yang Luo shrugged.
Upon entering the ward, he had already analyzed Old Master Su’s condition and was completely certain he could facilitate a cure.
Huang Tai’an laughed with mockery. “Kid, if you actually manage to cure Old Master Su, I would be willing to acknowledge you as my master!”
Yang Luo curled his lip dismissively. “Old man, even if you want me as your master, I have no interest in taking you as a disciple.”
These words instantly infuriated everyone present!
The boy was blatantly disrespecting Divine Doctor Huang!
Huang Tai’an’s face darkened at the insult. Given his decades of medical experience, he was treated as a prestigious guest and shown immense respect wherever he went. This was the first time he had ever been treated so flippantly.
“Wanqiu, Qingmei, who is this kid?” Su Wenfeng asked sharply, his eyes burning with anger as he looked at Yang Luo.
Su Qingmei spoke up quickly, “Uncle, this is Mr. Yang, Yang Luo. Not long ago, Aunt’s myocardial inflammation flared up, and it was Mr. Yang who eased her pain. That is why Aunt and I asked Mr. Yang to come and help Grandpa.”
She had originally intended for Yang Luo to simply try his best. She hadn’t expected him to provoke Divine Doctor Huang the moment he stepped inside, leaving her feeling completely at a loss.
“Oh?” A flash of surprise crossed Su Wenfeng’s features. “Kid, are you a doctor as well?”
“Correct. I am a doctor,” Yang Luo replied with a nod.
“Can you truly heal my father?” Su Wenfeng pressed.
“Yes,” Yang Luo stated firmly, offering only a single word.
Tang Dexin sneered, “Kid, if you claim to be a doctor, which medical university did you graduate from?”
“I have never attended a medical university,” Yang Luo said, shaking his head.
“Heh...” Tang Dexin gave a derisive laugh. “Kid, you haven’t even been to medical school, yet you have the nerve to call yourself a doctor? Are you playing a joke on us?”
Turning to Su Wenfeng, he added, “City Lord Su, this boy is clearly a fraud. We should kick him out immediately!”
Su Wenfeng spoke in a low, dangerous voice. “Kid, I don’t care who you are. You have three seconds to get out of my sight!”
“City Lord Su, wait!” Huang Tai’an interrupted.
Su Wenfeng replied respectfully, “Divine Doctor Huang, what is it?”
Huang Tai’an suggested, “Since this kid was so confident just now, why don’t we give him an opportunity?”
Su Wenfeng and the others were taken aback, confused by Huang Tai’an’s proposal.
Huang Tai’an turned back to Yang Luo. “Kid, if you claim you can treat Old Master Su, then tell me exactly what is wrong with him.”
The rest of the room watched Yang Luo with curiosity, realizing that Huang Tai’an simply wanted to see the boy humiliate himself.
Without any hesitation, Yang Luo answered directly, “The old man’s lungs, waist, and legs all suffer from various injuries that have persisted for many years. When he was young, he could endure the strain, but now that he has aged and his bodily functions have declined, he can no longer suppress these hidden wounds. It is only because of his exceptional physical constitution that he has survived until today. Otherwise, he would have passed away long ago.”
Upon hearing this, Huang Tai’an, Tang Dexin, and the rest were stunned!
Yang Luo’s assessment was identical to their own clinical findings!
They knew from the Su family that Su Guoxiong had been a soldier who fought many battles for the nation, which explained his numerous injuries. But how did this kid know those details?
Huang Tai’an quickly recovered and said, “The Third Madam and Miss Su must have told you this, right?”
Su Qingmei shook her head vigorously. “Divine Doctor Huang, I never mentioned Grandpa’s medical history to Mr. Yang.”
“What?!” Huang Tai’an’s expression shifted as he stared at Yang Luo. “Then how could he possibly know?!”
“I can see it, obviously,” Yang Luo said with a shrug. “Old man, as a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, surely you are familiar with the concept of ‘Diagnosis through Observation’?”
“Well...” Huang Tai’an was left speechless.
He knew better than anyone that Chinese medicine relied on four diagnostic methods. However, even he lacked the ability to identify every specific ailment a patient had through simple "Observation" alone.
For instance, he couldn't have diagnosed Old Master Su just by looking at him. To be able to identify complex illnesses at a glance—just how incredible was this kid’s medical skill?
Yet, the boy looked to be only in his twenties. Even if he had begun studying medicine in the womb, how advanced could he really be?
Huang Tai’an took a deep breath. “Kid, it seems you do possess some genuine talent.”
Yang Luo smiled. “At least I’m better than you.”
“You...” The comment made Huang Tai’an’s chest heave with fury.
However, the way the others viewed Yang Luo began to change slightly. After all, it was rare for a young person to receive any form of acknowledgement from Huang Tai’an.
Suppressing his rage, Huang Tai’an said, “Kid, since you insist you can save Old Master Su, I will give you a chance!”
“Divine Doctor Huang, are we seriously letting this boy treat him?!” Su Wenfeng asked, becoming anxious.
“Yes, Divine Doctor Huang, what if something goes wrong?” Tang Dexin added, his concern evident.
Ultimately, they still held a low opinion of Yang Luo.
Huang Tai’an declared loudly, “If anything goes wrong, I will take full responsibility!”
