Super Gene Chapter 2: Ass Freak

Han Sen was left stunned by the sudden, disembodied voice echoing in his mind; he found it nearly impossible to believe. A sacred-blood creature and a sacred-blood beast soul—could such things truly exist?
Inside God's Sanctuary, creatures are categorized into four tiers: ordinary, primitive, mutant, and sacred-blood. By consuming the flesh of these specific types, one could obtain different geno points. Currently, mankind has discovered four distinct phases within God’s Sanctuary. Once a physical evolution reaches completion, entry into the next spatial level is granted. Naturally, the more powerful the geno points utilized for evolution, the higher one's survival prospects in the subsequent realm.
Without question, sacred-blood beast souls are the pinnacle of all beast souls, each capable of fetching an astronomical price.
Upon finally grasping the reality of the situation, Han Sen could barely control his trembling. He used his dagger to pry open the black beetle’s hardened shell, then began stuffing his mouth with the meat, which felt as delicate as jelly.
"Flesh of black beetle consumed. One sacred geno point gained."
Feeling the flesh transform into potent energy while the announcement rang through his consciousness, Han Sen nearly broke down in tears of joy.
He snatched up a claw and sucked the meat from it, experiencing surging waves of energy coursing through his limbs, making his blood boil.
Eating a sacred-blood black beetle was not unlike consuming a standard crab. After finishing the meat within all six claws, Han Sen proceeded to carve out the flesh hidden inside the shell.
"Flesh of black beetle consumed. One sacred geno point gained."
"Flesh of black beetle consumed. One sacred geno point gained."
The strange notification continued to chime in his mind, leaving Han Sen feeling as if he were on cloud nine.
While continuing his dissection, his blade struck something rigid, producing a resonant metallic ring. Han Sen paused.
Black beetles were much like crabs; while their exterior appeared rugged, their insides typically contained nothing but soft meat, so where could metal possibly come from?
He pulled the blade away, brushed aside the chunks of meat, and spotted a sliver of black metal. After clearing away the surrounding remains, the object was fully revealed.
Initially believing it to be a piece of ore, he pulled it out and realized it was actually a black crystal, shaped and sized remarkably like a pigeon egg.
Holding the crystal, Han Sen felt no unusual sensations; it appeared to be nothing more than a polished, rounded black pebble.
However, upon closer inspection, it seemed to contain a miniature galaxy of millions of shimmering stars, displaying an incredible, ethereal beauty.
"This is the most accessible zone in God’s Sanctuary," Han Sen pondered. "Even primitive creatures are a rarity here, let alone those of the sacred-blood rank. How did this sacred-blood black beetle appear here so suddenly? Furthermore, I have never once heard of a sacred-blood black beetle. They are historically weak creatures. This specimen was outrageously frail. Is its arrival somehow linked to this crystal?"
With no answers, he simply finished consuming the rest of the beetle until he was full. In total, he had secured seven sacred geno points.
Obtaining seven sacred geno points was beyond his wildest fantasies. Given his meager background, he would usually have to gamble his life just to slay even a primitive creature, let alone one of the sacred-blood rank.
Because the shell was also quite valuable, Han Sen collected the claws and the remains of the upper and lower shells, stuffing them into his pockets.
While ordinary black beetle shells were essentially worthless, the shell of a sacred-blood variety could likely be boiled down into a soup that might grant him one or two additional sacred geno points.
This was his first time ever consuming a sacred-blood being. Theoretically, one could reach the cap of ten sacred geno points—having already secured seven from the meat, the remaining three were surely concentrated within the shell.
If he were to sell that shell, he could likely afford a luxurious private aircraft within the Levo Interstellar Alliance.
On his return journey to Steel Armor Castle, onlookers pointed at him, jeering and sneering; not a single soul dared to approach him.
The residents of the Sanctuary gazed at him as if he were some sort of monstrosity.
Typically, when an ordinary person enters the Sanctuary—even if they are impoverished—they can usually find comrades to hunt primitive creatures with, provided their martial skills are decent. Such individuals would never find themselves in as wretched a state as Han Sen.
Yet, within the entirety of Steel Armor Castle, no one had the courage or inclination to associate with him.
Over three months ago, Han Sen had entered God’s Sanctuary for the first time. The very second he stepped outside the Steel Armor Shelter, he spotted a colossal white wolf unicorn standing with its rear facing him near a rampart corner.
Without a moment to consider, Han Sen drew his dagger and ruthlessly stabbed the unicorn in the rear.
That single strike transformed both Han Sen and Qin Xuan into the greatest laughing stocks of the Steel Armor Shelter.
As it turned out, that white wolf unicorn was not actually a beast, but a human warrior who had undergone a transformation using a beast soul.
Qin Xuan happened to be the most influential woman in the Steel Armor Shelter. She was on the verge of completing her initial evolution with a baseline of sacred geno points, ready to embark on her true path of growth.
A greenhorn stabbing Qin Xuan’s backside became the most hilarious anecdote in the history of the Steel Armor Shelter. Although no one had the nerve to repeat it to her face, they were nearly dying of laughter in the shadows.
Consequently, "Ass Freak" became the legendary nickname attached to Han Sen.
Qin Xuan eventually decreed that anyone who associated with Han Sen would be treated as her adversary. In the Steel Armor Shelter, few could afford to make an enemy of Qin Xuan. Even those who could saw no reason to provoke her just to support a nobody like the Ass Freak.
That was the origin of Han Sen’s struggles, though he held no real grudge against Qin Xuan. The error was his own; he had been too high-strung during his first foray into God’s Sanctuary, and having never encountered extraterrestrial life or beast-soul transformers before, he had made an unpardonable blunder.
Han Sen was merely grateful that Qin Xuan hadn't extinguished his life in a moment of fury.
The only silver lining was that teleportation into God’s Sanctuary was entirely randomized. There were no acquaintances from his previous life present in Steel Armor Shelter, meaning his true name remained hidden.
