Substitute Bride: Utterly Pampered by Her Billionaire Husband Chapter 1824: I Love You

Celeste Linden wanted to push him away, but no matter how hard she pushed, she couldn’t move him. Perhaps she truly needed to face her own heart now—she had fallen in love with him.
Ethan Barnes lifted her up horizontally, carried her back to the car, and then returned home.
……
Celeste Linden lay on the bed resting while Ethan Barnes embraced her from behind, holding her tightly. At this moment, neither of them spoke, but it felt like their hearts had traveled across seas of people to lean closely together.
Celeste was still turned away, but through the thin fabric, she could already feel his heartbeat—thump thump thump, one after another, so vigorous and strong.
Ethan kissed her soft hair, “Celeste, I know I’ve made many mistakes before, which is why I never dared to imagine you would ever fall in love with me. My greatest wish is for you to stay by my side, accept my love, be my wife, and grow old slowly with me and our children.”
Celeste let out a hum, “Really? But I thought you were eager to get a divorce.”
“I was trying to set you free. I thought your unhappiness was because I was too slow with the divorce.”
Celeste turned around, clenched a fist, and hit him, “What’s going on with you and Crystal White? I saw you going out with her for a date at night with my own eyes.”
“Ethan, you’re something else, sneaking behind my back with Crystal White. You could’ve just told me; we didn’t need to make things complicated.”
Ethan grabbed her little fist tightly and wrapped it in his palm, “Celeste, listen to me. Last night, Crystal called me out; she said she wanted to talk about you.”
“What did she say about me?”
“She spoke badly about you. I got very angry, so I left.”
Really?
Celeste pulled back her hand forcefully.
Ethan reached out to pinch her little nose wing, happily saying, “Celeste, so you do get jealous! It’s the first time I’ve seen you jealous because of me.”
Jealous?
Only now did Celeste realize she was jealous. Otherwise, why would her emotions flare up so quickly—the feeling of her heart swelling, sour and aggrieved, wanting to cry alone? If this isn’t jealousy, then what is?
She’d already noticed something was wrong for a while.
But she resisted this feeling because her beginning with Ethan Barnes wasn’t beautiful; she lacked the courage.
Celeste raised her head, looked at Ethan, “Ethan, I’m very afraid.”
“Afraid of what?”
“Afraid of falling in love with you, scared to give you my true heart, fearful of thinking about our future,” Celeste said softly.
Ethan immediately reached out and drew her into his arms, “Celeste, I’m sorry, truly sorry; I can’t change the past, but I can only make amends in the future. For the rest of my life, please use your love to punish me.”
“If I perform well, you will love me; if I don’t, you can take back your love at any time—give me another chance.”
Celeste softened; she felt she should open up and try to accept him. After all, once you’ve fallen in love, you’ve fallen in love.
Celeste reached out and hugged his neck, then opened her mouth and bit down hard on his shoulder.
Ethan winced in pain.
Celeste released her bite, “Ethan, then you must treat me well in the future. If you don’t, I will bite you, and trust me, my bites really hurt.”
Ethan knew she had accepted him; she was willing to love him.
“Mm, from now on, I will definitely treat you well. Celeste, I love you.”
Celeste initated a kiss on his thin lips.
