Substitute Bride: Utterly Pampered by Her Billionaire Husband Chapter 1812: Too Greedy
Previously on Substitute Bride: Utterly Pampered by Her Billionaire Husband...
Celeste Linden felt that Ethan Barnes was acting weird tonight, and she didn’t know what was wrong.
But he had always been like this, moody and unpredictable, and she had gotten used to it.
Now he wanted her to have the baby, and everything else would be up to her.
Celeste looked at him, “Do you really mean anything I decide?”
Ethan swallowed, “What do you want me to agree to?”
“Can you let me be free?”
Ethan paused, he set down the bowl and spoon, his expression darkened, “Free? What kind of freedom do you want? We are already married, do you want to divorce me, take Danielle and the baby you’re carrying away from me?”
He didn’t give her a chance to speak, he continued, “Did you tell Danielle your idea, Danielle is three years old, she’s already sensible, if her parents divorce and separate, do you think she’d be able to accept it?”
“Danielle has never been by my side since she was little, she longs for a father’s love, can you really bear to let her lose her father again?”
Celeste didn’t know what to say, in fact, the marriage was forced from the beginning, she dreamed of leaving him with Danielle.
But over these days of being together, she had seen his transformation, the once arrogant and overbearing man had started to learn how to be a good husband for her, and a good father for Danielle. It would be impossible to say that she wasn’t moved at all.
“I haven’t told Danielle yet.”
“Except for divorce and aborting the baby, I will agree to everything else you want.”
“Ethan,” she called his name, a mocking smile played at her lips, “You seem to be retreating, but in reality, all these are your calculated moves. By retreating, you advance, forcing me into a corner. You really are greedy.”
Ethan paused.
“Isn’t it so, you really are a chess master, between us, no matter past or present, I have never had any choice, it’s you who forces me to choose.”
“You don’t want a divorce, you want this marriage, you want Danielle, and now you even want to have another child. You want my body, you want my heart too. How could a devil like you want a harmonious marriage and a happy family with both children?”
“You claim everything else will be according to me—what can you agree on? Do I need your money or do I need you? You’re really incredible, no one can outsmart you.”
Ethan was momentarily speechless.
“I’m full, I don’t want to eat.” Celeste stood up, went back to her room, and closed the door.
Ethan went to the window alone, he reached out for the cigarette pack, feeling restless and wanting to smoke a cigarette, needing the taste of nicotine to suppress his feelings.
But after fumbling for a while, he couldn’t find it. She didn’t like him smoking, and with Danielle around, he didn’t want her and her mother to suffer the harms of second-hand smoke, so he hadn’t smoked in a while, and there was no pack of cigarettes at home.
Moreover, now she was pregnant with their second child, he absolutely shouldn’t smoke.
Ethan stuffed his hands into his pockets, and smiled self-deprecatingly.
He knew he brought all this upon himself, he’d done too many wrongs in the past, unforgivable.
She was right, he was too greedy, wanting everything.
About everything related to her, he wanted it all.
……
Danielle had come back and was asleep, Celeste woke up in the night because she realized she was hungry.
Now her appetite was poor, and she needed to eat smaller meals more frequently.
For the sake of the baby, Celeste had no choice but to get up.
