Daniel Langdon was very emotional, it was clear he had difficulty accepting that Celeste Linden was already married, and moreover, she had married his good friend Ethan Barnes.
"Daniel," Celeste calmly said, "it’s exactly as you see, I married Ethan Barnes, and Ethan is Danielle’s biological father."
Daniel was stunned, though in reality, he had long known that Danielle was Ethan’s daughter, having investigated it himself before.
However, his initial investigation was only because he liked Celeste so much and wanted to learn more about her past.
"So you married Ethan for Danielle’s sake, angel, this is your major life decision, it concerns your lifelong happiness. How can you hastily marry just to give Danielle a complete family?"
"Daniel, you need to calm down, I..."
"How can you make me calm, angel? Have you forgotten the hurt Ethan caused you in the past?"
As Daniel’s words fell, Celeste trembled, looking at him incredulously, "Daniel, how do you know about my and Ethan Barnes’ past, do you... have you always known about Danielle’s lineage, and about my past with Ethan?"
Celeste truly never thought he knew. Every time she tried to tell him Danielle was Ethan’s daughter, he always said he didn’t want to know.
Turns out, he knew all along.
Daniel knew he couldn’t keep it from her anymore; indeed, he didn’t want to hide it. He had always thought Celeste would agree to marry him, but now she had married Ethan.
"Yes, I have always known; I had people investigate, knew that your past was ruined by Ethan Barnes."
"Ethan should be a devil to you; why would you marry such a person?"
"If it’s for Danielle’s sake, I’ll treat Danielle very well in the future, not being her biological father would be as if I were."
For years, Celeste had always seen Daniel as a friend. Though she couldn’t reciprocate his feelings, she was deeply moved.
She never thought he seemed to not want to know, but in fact had already investigated thoroughly.
"Daniel, you!"
Before she could finish her sentence, Ethan’s familiar voice came from behind, "What are you discussing here?"
Ethan had arrived.
Ethan walked over at this moment, to Celeste’s side, and looked at the emotional Daniel, "Daniel, let go!"
Daniel still held onto Celeste’s shoulder.
"Ethan, I..."
Ethan extended his well-defined fingers, pulled Celeste’s slender arm strongly, releasing her from Daniel’s grip and pulling her into his arms.
Ethan’s hand naturally fell to her waist, holding her in his embrace.
Celeste looked up and only saw Ethan’s resolute, cold hard jawline.
"Daniel, I heard you were giving a speech abroad and couldn’t attend my wedding. Now it’s not too late; let me introduce you. This is my wife, Celeste Linden, she is also my daughter’s mommy."
His voice was strong and solemn as he introduced her to his good friend, causing Celeste to feel a faint flutter.
Daniel looked at Celeste and then at Ethan, not knowing what to say at the moment.
"Celeste, I saw Danielle looking for you when I was coming out; go play with her first, I’ll catch up with Daniel." Ethan said in a low voice.
Celeste...
He used to call her "Celeste" as well.
This call of "Celeste" made Celeste’s heart skip a beat. Why did he feel so familiar, as if he hadn’t lost his memory at all?
