Jason is unable to reconcile his feelings for Agiel after she rejects him and reveals she is sacrificing herself for an alliance by marrying the general who killed her parents. He learns from Farlow that her decision was made three months prior, which she delayed to see him one last time, but she didn't want to burden him. Jason later focuses on creating a new rune to absorb both Mana and Qi, hoping to increase his power as his Primordial Essence Rank and Purity remain low.

Jason knew it would be foolish to underestimate the strength of a Primordial, and that was why he was trying to increase his Resonance as quickly as possible! Resonance was basically a cheat code that allowed Jason to stand toe-to-toe with mages that were far above his power level, so if Jason wanted to defeat and absorb the Essence of Primordials that were stronger than him, then he needed to get better at controlling his Resonance!

’I am not sure if the mana pathway here will be sufficient, my king. The combination of Mana and Qi is quite volatile, so there is a chance it will break through the containment channel and detonate prematurely.’

Azrael pointed a bony finger at a particular point in the rune that didn’t look like it could handle the power surge from Resonance, and Jason hummed as he studied what Azrael pointed out. Jason was silent for a few seconds, but he eventually decided that the pathway looked fine.

"I’m only testing it with a little first to see how it holds up. Since it’s just a prototype, I don’t think it’ll explode. And even if it does, it’ll be fine."

’...Very well, my king.’

Azrael finally stepped back once Jason gave that answer, and Jason made a few more final touches to make sure that the rune would hold properly before he put his brush away and stared down at the rune with a curious gaze! Even though Jason knew that this was only a test, he still hoped that it would work out! Figuring this out would literally mean the difference between being able to face the higher-rank Primordials or not! Jason let out a sharp breath before he put his hand over the rune and began to channel his mana.

The first step in this process was to send mana through the rune. This step wasn’t dangerous at all, and since Jason had already mastered the use of mana-storage runes, he didn’t even need to worry about the rune malfunctioning! But once that step was finished, Jason finally had to send the Qi through the rune. Jason put his hand over the rune, and he slowly began to filter his Qi forward. It was a slow process that needed to be done with extreme care, and Jason felt a smile slowly growing on his face as he saw that the Qi was mixing properly with his mana! Did he actually do it—!?

Rip!

BOOOM!!

All of a sudden, the rune paper ripped straight in half, and a massive explosion tore through the mansion! Three windows on the lower floors were immediately blown to pieces, and a massive cloud of smoke burst through every hole in the building! Inside the living room, Jason stared at the burnt paper with an irritated expression on his face, and he turned to the side and coughed twice to get rid of the smoke!

’Hahahahahah~! You idiot! You seemed so sure that I thought you were about to do something extraordinary! Hahahaha~’

An annoying voice echoed from inside Jason’s Alternate Dimension, and Jason felt his brow twitch in annoyance as he heard Esdath laughing his ass off! Esdath was sitting on the roof of his house, and Esdath had been watching Jason all this time to see if Jason would actually be able to combine Mana and Qi in a rune! If Jason had actually managed it, then it would’ve been one of the greatest achievements of this century! But Esdath couldn’t stop himself from laughing his ass off when he saw the explosion!

’Get him.’

Jason immediately sent a message out, and Esdath let out a scream as he saw Ragnar’s massive shadow falling over him!

’You promised you wouldn’t do this anymore, you bastard!!’

Jason clicked his tongue, and he turned away as Esdath began running away from Ragnar! If Esdath didn’t want to get chased by a dragon, then maybe the idiot should learn to behave himself.

Jason looked back at the rune and studied the region that tore closely before he said:

"I think the Qi pathway was the problem. It filters in too much Qi, so the two power sources don’t have time to mix slowly. We’ll have to work on that again."

Behind Jason, Azrael had been covered in a thick layer of black smoke and dust, but Azrael simply bowed respectfully and spoke in his usual monotone voice.

’A very reasonable deduction, my king. I can begin work on the Qi pathway if you wish.’

Jason hummed as he thought about it, but then he shook his head.

"No, let Vana work on that. I need you to improve the combination algorithm so the Qi and mana mix slower next time."

Azrael bowed, and he went to do as he was told, and Jason turned back to the rune paper.

Bzzt!

Jason glanced to the side as his phone rang, and Jason pulled it out while getting off the floor to see that it was Cerci. Jason called on a few subordinates, and he instructed them to clean the mansion before he picked up the call and spoke.

"Yeah?"

[Jason, something important just came up. Are you busy?]

Cerci’s voice came through the call quickly, and Jason turned around to look at his destroyed mansion before he spoke.

"Not really. What’s the matter?"

[I can’t really explain it over the phone. I think it’s better if you see it yourself.]

Cerci didn’t bother telling Jason where he was since he knew that Jason always kept a watch on him, so Jason simply hummed before cutting the phone. A burst of mana from Jason’s body got rid of most of the dust and smoke on his clothes, and Jason grabbed his shirt from the side and threw it on before he activated [King’s Substitute]!

....

[Monarch Guild – Riverdale Branch]

In a secure room on the highest level of the Monarch Guild branch in Riverdale, Cerci was sitting with many other high-ranking members of the guild. Juliet, Francis, and Stragga were all present there, and they were looking through some reports they had just received from the Elder Worlds watching over various sectors of the Domain.

After Jason carried out the mission to Hondura to help the Elder Worlds take care of the Witch of Calamity, there had been a lot more requests and reports coming in from other Elder worlds to try and get Jason’s help with many issues in their respective sectors! But even though Jason was more than capable of handling all those problems, Jason told the Elder Worlds that he would not be taking care of every single issue that pops up in his Domain! The reason for this was because some issues just didn’t require the intervention of the Overlord himself! Jason was the most powerful man in this domain, and he was far too busy to constantly move around like a regular foot soldier to defeat every bad guy that appeared!

So instead of Jason going to handle everything himself, Jason sent a few of his subordinates to each of the Elder Worlds, and he told the Elder Worlds to take the subordinates with them when dealing with problems around the Domain. If there was ever an issue that required Jason to intervene, then the subordinate would send Jason a message, and Jason could come to help out. The Elder Worlds have been sending reports of their recent missions to Jason to keep him up to date with what was going on in the domain, but the recent report that just arrived was a bit worrying, and Cerci knew that Jason would definitely want to know about this.
