Strongest Necromancer System Chapter 926: Meeting With A Mercenary
Jason landed on the fifth mountain peak where the Eternal Wanderer had asked to meet him, and he put his hands in his pockets and watched the sun rise as he waited. Jason was shirtless, so he could feel the cool morning breeze against his skin, and he closed his eyes and wondered what Gina was up to. It was nighttime back on Earth, so she was probably still sleeping.
’I have to go back home soon. I need to spend more time with her now that she’s pregnant.’
Jason turned away from the sun, and he hummed as a Dimensional Tear began to open up in front of him. The tear expanded until it was large enough to fit a person, and Jason watched as someone stepped out. It was a tall man who towered over Jason. He had a slim build and pale skin that looked delicate. He wore a long black tunic, and on his back was a large backpack. His hair was a pure white that blended in with his skin, and his eyes were a milky color that almost made him look blind. But Jason felt the man’s eyes following him, and he knew that he could see just fine!
The Eternal Wanderer, J, placed a hand on his chest and bowed to Jason respectfully.
"It is an honor to stand before the great Overlord of the Sixth Domain. May your reign be long. My name is J, and I am a humble traveller eternally seeking my wandering world. In my travels, I have been privileged to meet and strike deals with many individuals, and it will be a matter of great pride to add your name to that list."
The Eternal Wanderer, J, spoke in a voice that was smooth and nonthreatening, and Jason found himself relaxing slightly in the man’s presence for some reason. Jason nodded to the Eternal Wanderer, and he said.
"You’re the one who sent me the message? What is this meeting about?"
J stood tall once more, and he responded quickly.
"I am merely a facilitator, Lord Jason. I was contacted by this individual and asked to arrange a meeting with you so you can talk about something of utmost importance. This meeting will take place within Merivo’s world, and a rule will be imposed that forbids all forms of aggression in order to ensure the safety of all those involved. My contractor believes that such extreme measures are necessary to ensure his safety. But you can be assured that this is not a trap in any way. Should you wish to leave Merivo’s paradise, you can do so with only a thought, and the meeting time will not surpass the one-hour mark."
Jason raised a brow in surprise when he heard this. Jason knew that Merivo’s paradise was very expensive, so he could only wonder who the hell was rich enough and paranoid enough to arrange a meeting there. Jason hummed as he thought about things for a while. If it had been anyone else organizing this meeting, then there was no way Jason would have agreed to it since he didn’t know them. But the Eternal Wanderers were a very trustworthy group of merchants, and Jason knew he didn’t have to worry about any foul play while J was around. Jason finally nodded to J, and J bowed to Jason.
"I will now transport you into Merivo’s paradise."
J reached behind him and pulled out a knife before cutting a line through the air that ripped reality apart and revealed a new location beyond the line! J walked through the line and into this new location, and Jason followed behind him and vanished from the Yellow Ash Mountains.
....
[Merivo’s Paradise]
Jason walked into Merivo’s paradise and immediately landed on top of another mountain. This mountain looked out over a massive field of grass and trees in the distance, and Jason took in a long breath as he felt the unmistakable feeling of nostalgia from returning to this place. Jason had spent a full week with Hesabeth here, and even though it looked different now, the mana in the air still felt the same as it did back then!
There was a man in a black outfit standing on the other side of the mountain top. The man had blue skin with long arms and legs that almost made him look like a lizard. But he had a buff and strong body that worked well with his lanky appearance. The man’s clothes were brand new and of high quality, but there was a roughness about the man that prevented him from fitting into the clothes properly! It felt like Jason was looking at a pirate who was trying to dress up as a politician! It just didn’t match properly in Jason’s head! The man began to walk over once he saw Jason, and when he was close enough, he bowed to Jason respectfully.
"Greetings, Lord Jason. I am known as Valaha, and I am the leader of an organisation of powerful warriors from all around the sixth domain. I apologise for going through such roundabout methods to facilitate this meeting, but I felt it was necessary to do this so we can both speak freely without fear."
Jason hummed calmly, and he looked the man over for a few seconds before he finally said.
"You’re a mercenary, aren’t you?"
Valaha’s eyes widened in shock when he heard this, and Valaha nodded once to tell Jason that he was right. Valaha couldn’t believe that Jason was able to figure out his identity so easily. Even though Valaha was a mercenary, he had freshened up properly and worn brand new clothes to this meeting to make sure he was presentable to the Overlord! But it was obvious that some things just couldn’t be hidden with new clothes! A wolf in sheep’s clothing would still act as a wolf!
"Yes, I am the leader of the mercenary organisation, Drakan, and for the past few centuries we have made a fortune by selling our services to anyone who desires it. The end of the Period of Lawlessness gave rise to great business opportunities for mercenaries. Because now that the Primordial Treaty prevented people from fighting against each other, they began to employ us to do their dirty work for them so they can still take down their enemies without leaving their own fingerprints on the murder. I will not claim to be anything other than what I am. I am a businessman."
"You’re a cancer. A poison that I’ve been planning to eradicate from my domain for some time now. The only reason you’re not dead yet is because I haven’t had time to focus my energy on erasing you and every other mercenary organisation that exists in my domain. You were smart to arrange this meeting inside here. If you had come to meet me in the real world, I would’ve killed you where you stand."
Valaha swallowed as he sensed the absolute sincerity in Jason’s tone. Jason had his hands in his pockets, and anyone who saw him would think that he was perfectly relaxed. But the way Jason spoke told a completely different story! It was obvious that Jason was a moment away from leaving this meeting!
Valaha immediately spoke up.
"I understand my position, my lord. And I had a feeling that you would not have the same tolerance for mercenaries that the previous Overlord Rubik did. That is why I have come before you today to offer you my loyalty. My mercenary group, Drakan, is one of the largest in all ten domains. We have eyes and ears in every domain, and we have planted spies in every important organisation to ensure our information network is vast and unparalleled. I can assure you that you will not regret giving us a chance."
