Jason and his subordinates fight off a Machina invasion, unleashing powerful defensive runes and formidable undead legions. Despite their efforts, Jason realizes the Machina's true plan: a global assault to distract and overwhelm him while he's occupied.

Jason whirled around at the furious cry from below.

"I relish that look of pure desperation, you fiend! It mirrors the terror our people felt when you mercilessly slaughtered them without provocation! We shall demonstrate the anguish of burying your own kind! Even if it means our demise, we will send enough souls to the River of the Afterlife to occupy the Grim Reaper for a century!"

Sexes roared, his face contorted in rage. Jason’s gaze sharpened as his cellphone began to ring. Maintaining his focus on the unfolding battle, Jason calmly answered the call.

"Cerci."

[I assume you’re aware. Multiple nations are under assault by interdimensional beings. I’ve deployed Gaia agents to counter them, but they possess TITAN Rank armaments. Our resistance is unlikely to hold.]

"Instantly recall all Monarch Guild superhumans above rank A and deploy them. Instruct the affected countries to mobilize their most potent superhumans as well. I will provide strategic support with my own forces from this position."

[Understood. However, your current whereabouts are unclear. My sensors detect numerous hostile mana signatures around you. Is your location also compromised?]

"I am addressing a minor nuisance. Inform your agents and their superhumans to delay the Machina for precisely three minutes. Any necessary measures are permissible to resolve the situation, provided civilian casualties are minimized. Regarding the Machina, there’s no need for captives."

[Understood. We will engage them until your arrival.]

"Excellent."

Jason terminated the call and pocketed his phone. Only then did he turn his attention to the Machina forces below. His initial strategy involved allowing his subordinates to systematically dismantle the Machina, thereby gaining valuable combat experience while ensuring his family’s safety. However, with the urgent need for his presence elsewhere in the world, such delays were no longer an option. Reaching to his side, his hand disappeared into his alternate dimension, retrieving the TITAN Rank artifact, the [Spear of Heaven]. Jason surveyed the remaining Machina, meticulously counting their numbers, his eyes igniting with crimson fury.

DOON!

A surge of power emanated from Jason as he unleashed his Vympir bloodline, the very ground trembling. His combat prowess abruptly escalated from the upper echelon of TITAN Rank I to the lower tier of TITAN Rank II. The Machina forces below looked up in stunned disbelief.

Varon bellowed a frantic command to the other Machina:

"He’s preparing an offensive! Disperse and engage him from multiple angles! Maintain maximum distance!"

The Machina swiftly scattered, unleashing a barrage of attacks towards Jason. He thrust his spear forward, activating its defensive capabilities.

Shine!

An incandescent golden barrier materialized around Jason and Gina, providing formidable protection. Simultaneously, Jason transmitted a directive to his subordinates:

‘Disperse.’

His subordinates acted with immediate precision, spreading out to position themselves near at least one Machina each. What transpired next was beyond ordinary comprehension. The Machina present had witnessed the brutal efficiency of Jason and Gillian’s previous assault, surviving the ensuing massacre through desperate combat. Many harbored the conviction that they had already faced the zenith of Jason’s capabilities and believed their extensive countermeasures would prove insurmountable for him at his current power level. They had employed the souls of fallen Machina from the prior massacre as a catalyst for their current ritual, confident that Jason, at his present strength, posed no significant threat. Yet, despite their meticulous preparations, nothing could have possibly prepared them for Jason’s next move.

Jason lowered the [Spear of Heaven] to his side, holding it in a ready stance. Then, he activated an SS Rank skill:

[Time Dilation]!

The world around them seemed to decelerate into an agonizing crawl before snapping back into sharp focus, and time itself ground to a halt. This temporal stasis, though lasting a mere five seconds, was more than sufficient for Jason, armed with the [Spear of Heaven].

Five.

[King’s Substitute]!

Slash!

In an instant, Jason swapped positions with a nearby subordinate, unleashing a devastating sweep that decapitated three Machina simultaneously. Activating [King’s Substitute] once more, he materialized in a new location, severing two more heads.

Four.

Slash!

Slash! Slash! Slash!

Slash! Slash!

Three.

Slash! Slash!

This pattern repeated relentlessly as Jason traversed the entire battlefield, utilizing his Legion skill to behead every Machina. Given the close proximity of his subordinates, Jason expended minimal mana for each translocation. Consequently, his reduced mana reserves were not a factor.

Two.

The five seconds granted by the [Time Dilation] skill were rapidly expiring, and Jason expertly swapped positions with the subordinate standing directly before Varon, the leader of the Machina. Jason peered down at Varon, his expression utterly impassive, patiently awaiting the skill's duration to conclude.

One.

"!"

A tremor of fear coursed through Varon as Jason materialized before him! From Varon's perspective, Jason had simply ceased to exist where he was and reappeared instantly. Varon prepared to bellow a command to the surrounding Machina, but his shock intensified when he realized all the Machina had fallen silent! His heart hammered against his ribs as Varon surveyed the battlefield. His eyes widened in horror as the severed heads of his comrades began to detach from their bodies! The Machina collapsed like marionettes with severed strings. Varon met Jason's burning red gaze, a profound terror now consuming him! When had Jason accomplished this? How was it even possible!? Varon had been watching Jason intently the entire time, yet hadn't seen a single movement. How, then, had Jason annihilated every Machina soldier!?

"Y-You monster," Varon rasped through clenched teeth, his grip tightening on his sword. Jason's icy stare offered the only response. Jason raised his spear, its tip hovering near Varon's throat, and spoke.

"Had you simply resigned yourself to your fate, I would have graciously allowed your people the respite to restore your world to its former splendor. But you have provoked my ire, Varon, and forfeited that privilege. Your demise shall serve as a testament that I will never permit the Machina to reclaim the glory they once held. Your people will be subjugated, and your history eradicated. Your offspring will grow to learn how their ancestors' foolishness condemned their entire race. Should any among them dare to seek retribution as adults, I will sever them like weeds from a garden. Your folly has consigned your people to an existence of perpetual mediocrity."

Varon's heart grew progressively colder with each word Jason uttered. By the time Jason finished speaking, Varon knew with absolute certainty that Jason would fulfill every promise. Yet, Varon found solace in this! Even if his own life was forfeit and future generations were enslaved, Varon would depart with the grim satisfaction that humanity would endure the same suffering the Machina had! A vindictive smile spread across Varon's face as he declared!

"I may perish here, but I swear you will suffer! Your entire world will pay for what you have done! It is too late for you to stop -"

SLASH!
