After an intense night with Jason, Hesabeth and Gina are exhausted the next day as they prepare for a meeting with the council. Farlow notices their fatigue and wonders about Jason's seemingly endless energy. The council is set to discuss Jason's punishment for his actions against the Machina, the destruction of worlds, and the vacant Sixth Seat.

Should Jason manage to extricate himself from these charges without facing any jail time, the likelihood of him being offered Rubik’s vacant position would increase significantly. After careful consideration last night and subsequent discussions with both Farlow and Hesabeth, Jason resolved to accept the seat.

The truth was, the advantages of leading a Primordial Domain were simply too numerous to ignore! Not only would Jason gain access to information far quicker than anyone else, but he would also hold the ultimate authority over how any world violating the laws within his Domain would be handled. Jason would be free from reporting to any superior within his Domain, and it would be considerably easier for him to elevate Earth’s status and fortify its strength! It was an obvious choice, and Jason had already strategically positioned enough individuals to ensure his nomination for the council seat was secured.

The moment Jason committed to pursuing the position, a new notification materialized from the system, signaling the activation of a new mission.

——

New Mission: Claim the Sixth Seat in the Council of Nine and One

The user has been identified as a prime candidate to succeed the now deceased Lord Rubik as the new head of the Sixth Primordial Domain known as the Alpha Domain. The user will gain the title [Exalted Member of the Council of Nine and One]

Upon receiving this mission, a grin spread across Jason’s face, solidifying his decision to join the council. He had already discussed the necessary prerequisites for council membership with Farlow and Hesabeth. Despite Farlow’s reservations about Jason securing the seat, given the presence of other high-ranking mages within the Sixth Domain also vying for it, Jason assured him not to worry, as he possessed a hidden trump card.

"We need not worry much about the council. I am present in this trial as well, and that alone assures you that things shall turn out in our favour. Whatever they ask us to pay as reparation shall be within reason, and if they ask for more than what we can give, I shall give them a piece of my mind."

Hesabeth’s voice, laced with a haughty tone, suddenly pulled Jason back to the present. A smile couldn't help but form on his face. Had anyone else uttered those words, Jason would have merely scoffed and dismissed them. However, coming from Hesabeth, he knew her words carried undeniable weight. Jason finally stood, addressing Farlow.

"I suppose it is time for us to depart. My desire is to conclude this as swiftly as possible to return home, so I would prefer we do not dally."

Farlow nodded, rising alongside Hesabeth and Gina. He then spoke with a calm demeanor.

"I shall proceed ahead as council members are required to arrive earlier. We will be unable to convene before the trial commences, as I wish to avoid any appearance of favoritism towards you in the eyes of other council members, but rest assured, my full support will be with you. Queen Hesabeth, I advise you to adopt a similar approach. It would be best if you did not arrive at the Stone Catacombs concurrently with Jason."

Farlow directed his final remark towards Hesabeth. However, she merely scoffed with an air of arrogance, unfurling her fan to conceal her lower face. She then moved to stand beside Jason, taking his arm possessively.

"I shall act as I please, King Farlow. The opinions of lesser beings hold no significance for me. If they choose to interpret my association with Jason as a display of favoritism, I see no reason to dissuade them. After all, such an interpretation would not be entirely inaccurate."

A weary sigh escaped Farlow as he looked to Jason for some form of intervention. Hesabeth was clearly impervious to anyone’s influence but Jason’s. Farlow’s disappointment was evident when he saw Jason merely shrug nonchalantly. It was apparent that Jason also intended for the council to perceive their united front. Deciding it was best to let them proceed with their strategy, Farlow nodded to the trio.

"Very well then, I wish you the best of luck in the trial. I shall do my part to garner support for your cause and endeavor to keep any imposed penalties within reasonable bounds. Until we meet again."

Farlow turned and exited the room. Once outside, a contingent of elven guards moved into formation behind him before they all vanished through a massive Dimensional Tear that Farlow had conjured.

Now that Jason was alone with his companions, he turned his gaze towards Hesabeth.

"Are you truly certain about this, Hesabeth?" he inquired.

Hesabeth offered him a smile and a nod. She was pleased that Jason hadn't undermined her standing in front of Farlow. He had wisely chosen to express his concerns only after Farlow had departed. Jason understood Hesabeth's pride and knew that challenging her directly in front of another would have caused her significant embarrassment. However, now that they were in private, it was crucial for Jason to understand her true intentions.

Hesabeth spoke, elegantly folding her fan once more. "You need not concern yourself with any matters, my darling. The council is already privy to our shared stance on this trial. Furthermore, I would never abandon my beloved when he requires my steadfast support the most. With me by your side, I guarantee they will not dare to overstep with their accusations or sanctions."

A smile graced Jason's lips at Hesabeth's reassuring words. He leaned down, bestowing a gentle kiss upon her. Hesabeth's cheeks flushed at the tender gesture, yet she welcomed it, closing her eyes and returning the kiss with a smile. As they parted, Jason beamed at the adorable blush coloring Hesabeth's face, expressing his gratitude for her assistance. Hesabeth, attempting to quell her blush, waved his thanks away with a flustered air! Nearby, Gina let out a soft giggle at Hesabeth's endearing reaction. She then leaned in to kiss Jason's cheek, reminding him that it was time to depart. Jason acknowledged her with a nod and turned to Stella, inquiring if she, too, was ready. Stella responded with a serious nod! She remained in the maid's uniform that had become her customary attire, her weapon already secured within a spatial dimension, ensuring her readiness should any unexpected attacks occur. Jason released a calm breath, satisfied that all were prepared. He then channeled enough mana to summon a Dimensional Tear nearby, and the group stepped through it.
