’Ask him what his favourite food is! No, no, ask him if he wants to come visit the spirit world sometime! I want to introduce him to the Queen!’
Excitedly buzzing around Gina and Jason as they walked, Ulyn suggested a list of questions for Gina to pose to Jason, prompting her to roll her eyes. To stay in Ulyn’s favor, Gina asked them reluctantly, and Jason chuckled while replying that he’d gladly visit the spirit world occasionally, with his favorite food being whatever his mother cooked.
"I love Gina’s cooking as well, but she’s more likely to burn down the house before she gets through half a recipe."
"Hey!"
Blushing, Gina playfully smacked Jason’s shoulder at his words, causing both Jason and Ulyn to burst into amused laughter! Upon exiting the forest, Jason and Gina spotted Stella seated among elven soldiers, awaiting their arrival. Spotting them near, Stella rose swiftly with a broad grin, dashed forward, and bowed deeply in respectful greeting! Smiling back at her, Jason and Gina approached, allowing Jason his first proper glance at his servant. Earlier, when encountering Stella, Jason hadn’t examined her closely, his thoughts solely on reuniting with Gina, yet now, observing her fully, Jason couldn’t ignore...
"What the hell are you wearing, Stella? Is that a maid’s gown?"
Astonished by Stella’s attire, Jason stared in disbelief! Her maid’s gown resembled one from a manga, and he had to concede that she appeared remarkably professional in it! Smiling at Jason, Stella positioned her hands neatly over her stomach before responding.
"This gown was given to me by the head maid of the Elven castle. It possesses magical and physical defences, and it is comfortable enough for me to carry out all my duties without any problems, so I’ve decided that this would be my new uniform. The head maid also told me that it is necessary for a maid to distinguish herself from her masters, so it is only right that I dress appropriately to show my station. I hope you’ll allow me to use it."
Stunned momentarily by Stella’s eloquent explanation, Jason briefly questioned the identity of this woman! Glancing at Gina—still perched on his back—he noted her lack of surprise. Softly smiling at Stella, Gina had evidently heard this before! Recalling Stella’s nature, Jason knew she wasn’t overly refined; despite her adaptability, a touch of clumsiness rendered her somewhat undependable! Yet this version of Stella seemed utterly transformed! Prim and poised, she acted as though trained at a specialized ’maids’ academy.
’I guess this is what Stella was doing in her own free time. She learned how to act as a proper maid so she could serve me better. In a way, that makes me really happy. It’s nice to know that she is going out of her way to make me look good to others. I guess I really shouldn’t be surprised by the things she does anymore.’
A faint smile crossed Jason’s face as he assured Stella she could don any outfit she pleased in his service, eliciting her joyful beam and grateful thanks! Shaking his head amusedly, Jason shifted attention to the elves lingering behind Stella. Bowing to Jason and Gina, the elves watched their leader advance to speak steadily.
"We have just received a message from King Farlow, and he was adamant that we pass it to Madam Gina as quickly as possible. The King said that the Queen’s spirit has successfully returned, and her majesty, the Queen has been revived. We wait with desperate anticipation for your return so we may thank you properly for what you have done for us."
Abruptly, every elf knelt before Gina, heads lowered. Jason hummed softly in mild astonishment, then gently set Gina down to accept their gratitude fittingly. Clasping Jason’s hand, Gina observed with a gentle smile as the elven leader proceeded.
"Words cannot begin to describe the gratitude we feel in our hearts for your kindness. On behalf of all of elfkind, please let us be the first to thank you for saving our Queen. We thank the Queen of Tempest!"
"WE THANK THE QUEEN OF TEMPEST!"
Reverently, the assembled elves chanted in unison, their profound gratitude enveloping Gina like a tidal surge! A rush of joy swelled in her chest seeing her efforts valued, and she glanced sideways as Jason gripped her hand firmly. His cat-like grin radiated immense pride, practically visible!
’I’m so proud of you.’
Via their mental connection, Jason’s words rang with fervent affection, flushing Gina’s cheeks abruptly! Embarrassed, she bowed her head, fighting back tears while nodding to him. Expressing thanks to the soldiers, Gina urged them to rise, insisting she’d merely followed her conscience—no need for such extremes! Renewing their appreciation, the soldiers indicated a prepared carriage for Jason and Gina, drawn by winged steeds that sparked awe in Gina’s eyes!
"Are those Pegasus!? Oh my god, they’re actually real! Jason, they’re Pegasus!"
Gina marveled that the mythical beasts from her childhood cartoons existed! Though present for some time, she’d missed the Pegasus, her path limited to inner castle to Lake of Remembrance and return. Housed in distant Royal Stables, they evaded her sight! Eagerly dragging Stella, Gina rushed to stroke them! Pure white equines with folded alabaster wings, their necks felt wondrously silky under her touch, filling her with wonder!
Huff!
Playfully, the Pegasus wheeled and puffed toward Gina’s face, sparking her uncontrollable laughter! From afar, Jason observed Gina frolic with the steeds, swelling with vast pride! Though informed by Farlow of her deeds, witnessing the impact firsthand underscored their magnitude! Despite deeming her actions risky, Jason recognized this as quintessential Gina—unable to ignore the needy, leaping to aid when possible. Precisely this trait captivated him initially, and he rejoiced that others now beheld the extraordinary woman he’d claimed!
