Lamina defended Jason before the Council of Nine and One, arguing he was a Changeling under Gillian's control during the Machina Massacre and thus not responsible for the deaths. She resigned her council seat and nominated Jason as her replacement, as he inherited Gillian's Blood Oath and Lordship over the Vympirs of Nox. Rak’hael vehemently opposed, threatening to abandon the council and void the peace treaty if Jason joined, before storming out in fury. C’thlyanu postponed the decision on Jason's fate until a full council could reconvene.

[With Jason]

Relaxing beneath a tree's shade in the expansive garden, Jason released a sigh. Next to him lay a large sheet of paper covered in numerous runes, along with a book about Vympirs that he had obtained from Hesbeath. Following yesterday's training that obliterated the whole world, Jason and Hesbeath were compelled to rest on a massive blanket beneath the starry sky, as their house had been demolished. Hesbeath insisted Jason vow not to train today, unwilling to spend another night outdoors. Instead of honing his Resonance and magic, Jason opted to practice his Runes and Blood Arts. The volume from Hesbeath originated from Gillian long ago. This key Vympir text outlined their history, plus the classes, weaknesses, and strengths of each Vympir class. Though Jason gained much insight from Hesbeath’s mind while her Changeling, this book helped him comprehend numerous elements from Gillina’s memories. The tome revealed that Vympirs existed since the Grim Reaper's time. The initial twelve Vympirs were souls who defied the Grim Reaper and fled the Afterlife. Guided by the progenitor Vympir, Dracula, they returned to the mortal realm and established the supreme Vympir authority, the Seat of Dead Apostles.

All existing Vympirs descended from those twelve, and to ascend as a Dead Apostle, one needed descent from the Original Dead Apostle plus inheritance of the prior one's Blood Oath. As Jason perused the pages, deeper understanding dawned on the burden now thrust upon him. Ruling any world had never crossed Jason's mind. Despite possessing ample strength to conquer worlds up to Rank III, he lacked time for conquest's duties! Yet somehow, that duty had sought him out!

’So I have the right to claim the First Seat of the Dead Apostles now and become the ruler of Nox.’

Reclining against the tree, Jason exhaled calmly while observing the passing day, pondering his next steps. Ignoring the obligations tied to Gillian’s Blood Oath was impossible for him. Vympirs would soon seek him out, demanding his decision. Deep down, Jason knew he rejected that role. Though holding the first seat among Dead Apostles, ruling worlds held no appeal; he yearned to return home for a normal existence with his family.

’What the hell are you talking about, boy!? Do you know how much power you’ll have as the leader of Nox! That world is one of the most powerful in the entire Primordial Expanse! They don’t involve themselves in wars that much, but there is no denying that having them on your side can change the tide of any war!’

Esdeath strongly opposed Jason’s choice! She recognized his aversion to leadership, favoring freedom instead—this explained dodging Monarch Guild headship, holding only nominal title! But now, Esdeath refused silence! She saw vast gains from claiming the first Dead Apostle seat and leading Nox! Jason merely hummed thoughtfully to her arguments, unmoved! Leadership perks in Nox seemed obtainable otherwise! As wielder of Gillian’s former Blood Oath and a Blue Sun Vympir, Jason ranked among Nox's mightiest! He commanded every Changeling Gillian created—over five thousand Vympirs ready for any order! Even sans the seat, none could contest his dominance!

Jason resolved against claiming the seat! It demanded abandoning Earth life for permanent Nox residency, yet he cherished Earth with mother and sister. Thus, he'd relinquish it to another or devise remote rule over Nox!

’Lamina was the one who ruled over Nox while Gillian was under the [Cage of Eternity] right? And she managed to do it even though she was still a White Sun Vympir...’

This idea surfaced as Jason hummed thoughtfully, spotting an opportunity. Lamina, once Gillian’s Changeling, now fell under Jason’s control via the Blood Oath. Unwilling for constant Nox presence, delegating to her seemed ideal!

’Sigh~ I don’t even know what to do with you anymore! I don’t know if you have a lack of ambition or if your ambitions are just too strange!’

From Jason’s mind rang Esdeath’s theatrical sigh, met by his chuckle as he shut the Vympir book and set it aside! Family drove all Jason’s actions—from power pursuits to perilous adventures! All for family safety! Power hunger burned in him too, yet abandoning kin felt wrong! Idolizing his father, Jason vowed never to repeat that abandonment!

Hands clasped behind his head, eyes shut, Jason savored the soft garden breeze, lingering in tranquility minutes on end! Soon, a familiar mana approached—Hesbeath’s. He exhaled softly upon sensing it. Their dynamic stayed odd post-conversation where Jason preferred harming her over Gina. Hesbeath persisted in seduction attempts yet ceased current demands! She shared his bed, tempted relentlessly, but no longer coerced touches or kisses—Jason appreciated that much.
