"Before anything else, there's something crucial I must inform you of, King Farlow. It's extremely important."
With a grave look on her face, Gina faced Farlow, causing his expression to grow somber upon noticing the fierce determination in her gaze!
"What's this regarding?"
Curiosity filled Farlow's voice as he inquired, but Gina shook her head, insisting their discussion remain private! Realizing its gravity, Farlow signaled the guards behind him to depart. The soldiers saluted briskly and exited the garden in orderly fashion. Now alone with Stella and Gina, Farlow awaited Gina's words.
"I know the truth about your wife, King Farlow. You probably suspect I followed you today while you visited the Queen in the tower. Forgive my intrusion into your personal moment, but tailing you turned out to be a fortunate twist."
Hearing Gina mention his wife made Farlow's breath hitch sharply! He'd concealed her comatose state from the entire Primordial Expanse for ages, aware it was a vulnerability others might target! Only a handful knew the Queen lay in a coma; even Arandelle's common folk believed she was secluded in Sage training! Yet, no fury or irritation stirred in Farlow over Gina's spying! Instead, a spark of hope ignited deep within him at her 'blessing in disguise' remark, prompting him to speak with desperate intensity etched on his features.
"What exactly do you mean? What have you learned about my wife?"
Gina picked up on the raw desperation in Farlow's tone and offered him a gentle smile before replying.
"Your wife can be brought back to life."
A jolt like lightning coursed through Farlow's body, nearly toppling him! He steadied himself just in time, drawing in ragged breaths to regain control! For ages, he'd hunted desperately for a cure for his wife, hope fading into despair! All along, he bore the kingdom's burdens while fretting over her fate, never imagining relief! Should Gina truly hold the key to her salvation, Farlow would spare no effort to seize it!
Farlow's mounting desperation was palpable to Gina, who saw him struggling fiercely to hold himself together! He gulped hard, then pressed Gina on her seriousness, his eyes pleading like a parched wanderer promised an oasis! Silently, he begged the gods this wasn't a vicious ruse! Gina nodded steadily in response, then detailed her encounter with the Spirit Queen—describing her form and Gina's plea to restore the Elven Queen's spirit. Farlow reeled in astonishment that the Spirit Queen adopted his wife's visage for mortal meetings, anger flaring briefly in his chest, yet he suppressed it, knowing mortals couldn't challenge Spirits. His wife ought to have perished spiritless from her training mishap; thus, the Spirit Queen's claim on her spirit was, paradoxically, a lifesaver!
"The Spirit Queen's initial demand was my spirit in trade for the Elven Queen's..."
Stella's brow furrowed sharply behind Gina at those words, inwardly praying Gina hadn't entertained the idea! Harsh as it seemed, Stella couldn't stomach losing the prince's wife and child to revive the Elven Queen! Wisely, she held her tongue, mindful it would offend Farlow, and continued listening as Gina resumed.
"...yet she reconsidered, claiming it was merely a jest. Returning the Elven Queen's spirit seems trivial to the Spirit Queen. Still, she wouldn't release it without compensation, demanding an offering in exchange."
"What does she desire? Whatever it is, I'll muster the troops and give her up to half my realm if needed."
Tension etched Farlow's face into a stern grimace, bracing for the demanded tribute. But Gina dismissed it with a shake of her head.
"Nothing of the sort. No army required for her request. She seeks a fruit from a unique tree in the Hidden Wind Forest—the Moon Dew Fruit. Are you familiar with it?"
Shock widened Farlow's eyes, his fist clenching until blood threatened to spill! Why demand such a thing from the Spirit Queen!? If unwilling to return his wife's soul, she could have refused outright! This was an utterly unattainable quest!
Deep in Arandelle's realm lay the sacred Hidden Wind Forest, thousands of miles northeast of the central hub, spanning over a thousand square miles of dense woodland! Unconquered by elves, it teemed with spirits that claimed it as home, lurking perilously at every turn. The fiercest was the Valkan, a ferocious wind spirit ruling Arandelle's most hostile entities! Legends across Elven lineages spoke of the Moon Dew Fruit there—so invaluable that any spirit would fulfill a wish for it. Elves had ventured countless times to claim it! Futilely! The forest's spirits, obeying the Valkan, slaughtered all intruding mortals! Invisible to non-Sages, they struck unseen foes! Compounding the terror, the Valkan's nature bond unleashed wind assaults capable of annihilating armies!
Farlow's extensive studies confirmed the Valkan at least TITAN Rank I, its wind mastery rendering it a nightmare even for TITAN Rank II powerhouses like himself in its domain! Dispatching anyone for that fruit equated to a suicide mission!
