Harold awakens after being healed by a phoenix and speaks with Valeria. Stella arrives with a subordinate of Jason's, revealing herself to be a pure-blood Avaran. Harold uses the subordinate to communicate with Jason, warning him that the secret to stopping the Celestial of Death lies with a woman named Agiel, who is about to be married on Jadar. Harold insists Jason must accept his destiny with Agiel to prevent the doom of the Primordial Expanse. Jason abruptly appears before Harold, demanding to know what he meant about accepting Agiel.

"What did you mean I have to accept Agiel?"

This was the first thing Jason said to his brother, and Harold grew serious as well when he saw the heavy look on Jason’s face. Jason had already managed to drop off all the Vympirs on Nox in the past ten minutes, and he promised to come back for them once the entire situation with the Celestial of Death was handled. But right now, Jason wanted to know what the hell Harold was talking about!

Harold spoke up.

"I don’t really know what sort of connection the two of you have. But if it’s anything like what Agiel’s mother had with dad, then it probably means you have to return the love she has for you..."

Jason frowned.

"I don’t know how things are done on your world, but that’s not how emotions work, Harold. I don’t even know what the hell my relationship with Agiel is. I care about Agiel, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to automatically fall in love with her because of some bullshit like destiny. What are you trying to say right now? If destiny says I have to die, then I should just go and die? Is that it?"

Jason said all this with a frown, and Harold let out a small sigh as he saw the sense in it! This was the exact same argument that their father had against destiny. Being told that you had to feel a certain way or act a certain way towards someone was something that the Marcs just couldn’t accept! The Marcs were all very independent people, so they would never allow something like destiny to dictate their lives!

Harold spoke up in an understanding tone.

"Jason, I get it. It’s not ideal to have your feelings dictated by some outside influence. But you can’t stand there and tell me that you don’t feel anything for Agiel. I know you can love her if you wanted to, but you’re stopping yourself from accepting those feelings because you don’t want to be controlled by destiny. But you can’t keep doing that."

Jason clicked his tongue. It was true that Jason cared about Agiel, and Jason knew that if he allowed himself to enter a relationship with Agiel, he would definitely grow to love her, but their relationship was just far too complicated. Jason didn’t like the fact that there was some greater destiny trying to dictate his life, and he hated how everyone was pushing him and Agiel together like they knew what was best for him! If Jason was going to fall in love with somebody, then it would be his own choice to fall in love with them, and he would do it because he wanted to.

"Look, Harold, is there a reason for all this? What sort of prophecy did you hear that makes you think I have to accept Agiel’s feelings?"

Harold felt a surge of annoyance rising from deep inside him when he saw the hard look on Jason’s face! At this point, Jason was just being difficult for no reason, and Harold spoke up in an angry tone!

"I’m telling you to do this so we don’t all fucking die, Jason! The seer told me that if you don’t accept these feelings, we’re all going to fucking die! I don’t give a fuck about how you feel! This is exactly what happened with father! He didn’t believe in destiny either, and it led the world of Jadar into a bloody war! Father never spoke about Agiel’s mother after she died, but I could tell he regretted not accepting her for the rest of his life! He knew he could’ve saved her if he had just gotten over his own fucking ego and accepted her!

"If you don’t do something, you’re going to ruin the entire Primordial Expanse, and the blood of all those people will be on your hands forever! And you’ll end up with the exact same regrets as father! Just because you look like father does not mean you have to make the same mistakes that he did! You need to go find Agiel and figure this bullshit out together! People are dying out there for fuck’s sake!"

Jason’s frown deepened when Harold suddenly raised his voice at him. This was probably the first time someone would talk to Jason in this manner, and Jason felt a bit of irritation rising up from his heart at that moment. Harold was speaking like a true older brother, and for someone like Jason, who was not used to being told what to do, there was no way he wouldn’t be annoyed by something like this!

But Jason simply let out a calming breath to get rid of the irritation. Jason still did not like the idea of some outer force controlling what he was meant to do in his life. Who decided that Jason was Agiel’s destiny? Who decided that they had to fall in love? Who decided that the only way to save the world was by accepting this feeling? Jason did not like having to accept any of this!

But Jason couldn’t deny that Harold was right. There were people dying out there, and allowing his emotions to get in the way of something that could help all of them was wrong.

And besides, Jason also knew that he couldn’t ignore Agiel any longer. No matter how desperately Jason did not want to accept this feeling, there was no doubt that he cared for Agiel, and he did not like the idea of her getting married to someone else. That feeling in Jason’s chest, like someone was twisting a knife into his heart, had returned even stronger than before, and Jason could tell that it was because of Agiel! Jason needed to talk to Agiel about this and figure it out together, or he knew he would regret it!

"Fine."

That was all Jason said before he turned and began to leave the room, and Harold’s eyes widened in surprise! Wait... was that it? Harold honestly didn’t think that Jason would listen to him so quickly! Harold knew about the notorious Marc stubbornness that their father passed down to all of them, so he thought that Jason would argue for a few more hours at least! But for some reason, Jason wasn’t pushing back at all. Harold felt a surge of relief going through him at that moment, and Harold quickly spoke loudly before Jason could leave the room.

"Jason! If Agiel proves difficult, then just grab her and get her away from there. You need to make sure she does not get married under any circumstance. Do you understand?"

Jason’s only response was a grunt, and Harold shook his head at the familiar response. Harold could even count how many times their father had grunted in that same way whenever Harold was speaking to him!

Jason raised his hand and called out.

"Helios."

Phwoom!

A fiery entity suddenly appeared out of thin air and landed on Jason’s right shoulder, and Harold blinked in surprise when he saw that it was a large Phoenix with flames burning on its head like a crown! The phoenix turned to Harold and tilted its head curiously before it turned back to Jason and let out a low cry.

<Brother healed?>

Jason pet Helios on the stomach and spoke calmly.

"No, he isn’t alright yet. I need you to stay back and help look after him and the others. I won’t be gone for too long, so just wait for me, okay."

Helios frowned when he heard that Jason was leaving, and Helios immediately let out another cry that told Jason that he wanted to come along. But Jason knew that he didn’t really need Helios’ help on this trip. Jason was only going to speak to Agiel, and he was going to come back once he was done breaking up that wedding, so Jason would rather have Helios here to look after the family.

"I’ll be fine, Helios. Just behave, and I’ll get you a treat on my way back."

Helios let out another low cry and flapped its wings!

<Infernal mice from Gehenna!>

Jason blinked in surprise at the strange request.
