Tianxin's birthday celebration ended with her friends leaving. Despite her father's strict punishment, which isolated her from Ziyang, Tianxin still held onto the hope of his return. She waited by the gate, saving him a piece of cake, torn between wanting him to return and not wanting him to break his agreement with her father. Just as she began to lose hope, Ziyang appeared, having broken his promise to her father to be with her. Overwhelmed with a mix of joy and anger, Tianxin threw her cake at him before he presented her with roses and wished her a happy birthday.

Every year on her birthday, Tianxin had him by her side, and today marked her eighteenth birthday.

If he wasn't present, she knew she would be intensely upset.

As predicted, he had a feeling she'd be waiting for him, right at the gate, just as she always did.

She stood firm, displaying an unwavering resolve not to leave until she saw him, stubbornly holding her ground.

It was easy to imagine how devastated she would be if he failed to return.

Not wanting to witness her sadness, he broke his promise to his master.

Anger flashed in Tianxin's eyes as she lifted her hand, intending to swat away the bouquet of roses, yet she found herself unable to go through with it.

In the end, she accepted the roses, embracing them tightly and completely ignoring Ziyang.

Carrying the flowers, she walked past him without uttering a single word.

This was the very first time Brother Yang had ever presented her with roses; she couldn't possibly bring herself to discard them...

However, this didn't signify her forgiveness for his abrupt departure without a word!

She questioned why he had chosen to leave so silently back then, why he hadn't bid her farewell.

Did he not realize the depth of her sorrow, or how much she would yearn for him?

How could he be so callous as to vanish without a trace?

Leaving without even a simple written note.

Had her mother not revealed the truth, she would have genuinely believed he no longer desired her.

If that were the case, she would have spiraled into despair!

"Tianxin!" Ziyang called out her name, his voice steady as he remained still.

Tianxin paused, clutching the roses tighter, her anticipation building for his next words.

"I chose to leave without a word because I couldn't bear to see you cry; watching you weep would have made it impossible for me to depart," Ziyang explained in a hushed tone, reiterating that his silent departure was to spare her tears.

Witnessing her sorrow would have given him the strength to stay, making him unwilling to uphold his master's conditions.

Even if his master disapproved, he wouldn't have surrendered!

But he didn't want to inflict further pain upon her, which led him to agree to the master's terms.

Leaving her heartlessly, in silence, without a goodbye.

He anticipated her anger and sadness, and he was fully prepared to face her accumulated grievances and fury upon his return.

He vowed he wouldn't leave again!

"So you deliberately chose to disappear without a word, did you?!" Tianxin spun around, her voice laced with righteous anger as she confronted him.

"..." Ziyang remained silent.

"Knowing precisely how heartbroken I would be, you still left without a single word!" Tianxin's voice cracked with sorrowful sobs.

Ziyang moved towards her, gently embraced her, and then lowered his head to whisper in her ear, "I apologize, my dearest Tianxin, I love you!"

Tianxin released the roses, tears of overwhelming joy streaming down her face.

She wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing herself against his chest as she finally let out all the pent-up longing and grievances from the preceding months!

During those long months, she lived in constant fear that her mother was deceiving her, that Brother Yang had truly left, and her mother had fabricated a reason to pacify her.

She was unable to see or reach Brother Yang, unaware of his whereabouts.

She remained uncertain about the validity of her father's agreement, and she had no clue where Brother Yang was.

With no other recourse, she could only choose to believe, choose to wait!

Fortunately, Brother Yang had returned, and had not abandoned her!

Tianxin guided Ziyang back to the room, carefully placing the slightly wilted roses on the table.

She retrieved a towel from the bathroom and returned to gently wipe the remnants of cake from Ziyang's attire.

"This is the very last piece of cake; you absolutely cannot have my birthday cake this year!" Tianxin declared with a pout, diligently cleaning his clothes.

"It matters not if I miss out on the cake, for I desire... to consume you instead!" Ziyang mischievously grinned, encircling Tianxin's waist with his arms and claiming her lips in a passionate kiss.

He had yearned for this precise moment!

He had missed her profoundly during those intervening months, he truly, truly missed her!

Tianxin's heart pounded with nervous excitement, the towel slipping from her grasp and falling to the floor.

Her hands clutched his clothes with a mixture of anxiety and anticipation, though she had long been mentally prepared to give herself to Brother Yang.

Yet, as the actual moment arrived, a sliver of apprehension still lingered.

A potent blend of eager anticipation and thrilling excitement filled her senses!
