Steam Era: The Lord of 'Puluo' Chapter 1141 576: The One and Only Puluo State
Previously on Steam Era: The Lord of 'Puluo'...
Boss Lu took Yu Yaoming to the Lu Family Bookstore, a newly opened shop in the Yunxiu District of Yuezhou City. The sign still read "Lu Family Bookstore," and its layout was similar to the one in Puluo State.
Yu Yaoming was placed in the second-floor storage room, devouring a beef rice bowl ravenously.
"No need to rush, there's more after you finish," Boss Lu said, placing a box of meat pies in front of Yu Yaoming.
Yu Yaoming grabbed a pie, swallowed it in two bites, and choked, his eyes rolling back.
Boss Lu handed him a bowl of lamb soup and said with a smile, "Try the lamb soup and meat pies from Qian Yue Tower in Greenwater City."
Yu Yaoming took a few sips of the soup and washed the pie down: "This pie is good, the soup is good too, delicious. What kind of place is Greenwater City?"
Boss Lu laughed: "You've never been to Puluo State?"
Yu Yaoming shook his head; he hadn't even heard of it before.
Boss Lu suspected Yu Yaoming wasn't being truthful: "You've never been to Puluo State. Where did you learn these skills?"
Yu Yaoming was taken aback: "Are you talking about the power of wisdom? I acquired it through my own research!"
"You were able to acquire it yourself?" Boss Lu laughed, "Have you been to a place similar to Puluo State? Like a foreign Puluo State."
Yu Yaoming shook his head: "I don't even know which country Puluo State is in."
"I'll take you to see Puluo State," Boss Lu stood up, came to the warehouse door, took out a sheet of white paper, and, with a brush, wrote a document.
The document's text was written in small script, and the title was slightly larger. Yu Yaoming could see the words "Passageway."
In a moment, the document was completed, and Boss Lu suddenly held a large seal, which he stamped on the document.
The seal's size and material were quite special.
The seal vanished instantly, and Boss Lu took the document to the door, passed it through the crack in the door, and someone on the other side took it.
After a short while, Boss Lu opened the warehouse door and led Yu Yaoming out.
Outside was still the bookstore, its setup almost identical to before, but once they stepped outside the bookstore, Yu Yaoming was dumbfounded.
The wide street in front of the bookstore was gone, replaced by a dirt road.
The traffic disappeared, and occasionally a couple of ox carts passed by.
Across the road were vast fields, during the autumn harvest season, many farmers could be seen working in the fields.
Yu Yaoming asked, "How did you move your bookstore from the city to the countryside? You used a wormhole, right? A wormhole that connects two different spaces!"
Boss Lu laughed, "Do you think it's just a move from city to countryside?"
Yu Yaoming certainly thought so; he was the son of farmers, his hometown was in the countryside, and these things weren't unfamiliar to him, although people's clothing was slightly different.
Boss Lu said, "This is Taoyuan Town; neither the aristocrats nor the gangs can interfere here. It's the most peaceful place in all of Puluo State."
"Is this Puluo State already?" Yu Yaoming still couldn't believe it.
Boss Lu closed the bookstore door: "I'll take you to another place."
He led Yu Yaoming, circled the third row of bookshelves, returned to the bookstore entrance, and opened the bookstore door again, revealing a new scene.
The vast farmland transformed into many two- and three-story buildings, with some taller ones in the distance. Boss Lu pointed to a five-story building and said: "That is the Hundred Joy Gate, Puluo State's landmark."
"A five-story building can be a landmark?" Yu Yaoming found the statement somewhat rude and quickly explained, "I'm just curious, I meant no offense."
Boss Lu shook his head and laughed, "There are taller buildings like the Peace Mansion. The people of Puluo State have their preferences, and we don't necessarily think taller is better."
Yu Yaoming wanted to take a look around the Hundred Joy Gate, but as soon as he stepped onto the road, he heard a clear ringing sound: "Ding, Ding!"
A rickshaw puller passed by him with his vehicle, and Yu Yaoming was astonished: "In this era, there are still such transportation tools?"
Boss Lu did not say much; Yu Yaoming observed for a moment and realized that there were no cars on this road at all.
"In Huan Country, how could there be..." he hesitated to use the word "backward."
Boss Lu finished for him: "This isn't Huan Country, and it's not suitable to simply describe Puluo State as backward,
here, some technological means are restricted. We can only develop our civilization through other channels."
"The channels you mentioned are..." before he could finish, Yu Yaoming saw a woman stepping out from a nearby teahouse.
The woman wore a short-sleeved cheongsam with peony cloud patterns in teal blue. Its silhouette was light and fitted, and the mandarin collar, piping, and embroidery were exquisite and delicate, showcasing her graceful figure without sacrificing dignity.
Her hairstyle was Puluo State's most popular finger wave, with the wave pattern flowing from left to right, perfectly complementing her delicate features, as if she was a talented socialite from a movie.
"Talented socialite, the description truly suits her," Yu Yaoming couldn't help but express his thoughts out loud, as he had never seen such an extraordinary woman.
Boss Lu asked beside him: "Why do you think this person is talented?"
Indeed, why?
Yu Yaoming didn't know the woman at all, so why did he conclude she was talented?
It was because of that book.
She held a book in her hands, a hardcover book.
Yu Yaoming couldn't see the title, but he only felt that the book matched her perfectly.
"Wisdom aligns so well with her temperament; a woman like her is bound to be full of talent," Yu Yaoming was a professor of physics, but he was also a man, and he truly couldn't resist looking at this beautiful woman a few more times.
