Steam Era: The Lord of 'Puluo' Chapter 1123 572: Peaceful Songs and Dances

The research division's agents rushed into the lab, with Li Banfeng and Geng Congyi arriving right after.

The research division's agents didn't know who these two were, thought they were in league with the Puppet, and the two sides almost started fighting.

Li Banfeng showed his ID, and Geng Congyi took out a vial of golden liquid and downed half of it first.

This was a specially designed Dye from the Dark Star Bureau; splashed directly on someone it could stain them, and a Dark Energy User could also use Techniques to stain a target.

After a Rifter swallowed the Dye, they could sever Dark Energy bonds and simultaneously mark the Dark Energy source.

In other words, as long as Geng Congyi could cut the Dark Energy bonds on the Puppet, he could locate the Craftsman Cultivation controlling it and tag the Craftsman Cultivation with a conspicuous yellow mark.

By Geng Congyi's experience, a Craftsman Cultivation's control range was usually no more than ten meters; that Craftsman Cultivation was definitely nearby—once exposed by the Dye, there'd be no way he could escape.

Everyone waited for Geng Congyi to make his move; a gust of wind swept past, leaving plenty of knife marks on the lab's walls and equipment, all of them streaked with bright yellow.

But no one saw where the Craftsman Cultivation was; they only saw the Puppet lying motionless under the Resonator.

Li Banfeng suspected the Craftsman Cultivation might be outside the lab; he swept his Golden Gaze Autumn Hair Technique over the view outside the window, and the Puppet beneath the Resonator suddenly slid out on its back. With its body barely bending, it sprang up from a supine position and stood before everyone.

Geng Congyi was scared stupid.

All these years as a special operative at the Dark Star Bureau, he had never once failed a job.

"Director, I laid down an insanely dense blade net just now..."

The blades were indeed very dense; if there were any Dark Energy bonds in the room, they should have been severed.

But this wasn't the time to argue about that. The Puppet strutted two steps sideways to stand in front of Geng Congyi, a dagger appearing in its hand as it swung to kill him.

Li Banfeng shoved Geng Congyi aside and kicked the Puppet.

At Li Banfeng's speed, that kick might not necessarily kill the opponent, but as long as the opponent's cultivation level didn't completely crush Li Banfeng's, dodging that kick would be extremely difficult.

He hadn't expected this Puppet to actually dodge.

Its waist twisted left at an impossible angle, bending its body into an arc to slip past Li Banfeng's kick.

Then, keeping its lower body in that arc, its upper body twisted again; dagger in hand, it slashed toward Li Banfeng's neck.

It was a Puppet; any degree of twisting was "reasonable," but moving that fast was not reasonable at all.

Li Banfeng leaned back to evade the dagger. The Puppet retreated a step, circled around the research division agents, and reached the lab door.

Li Banfeng beat it there, blocking the doorway, and swung his Tang Sword at the Puppet's legs.

A Puppet had no vital points; Li Banfeng went for the legs first to cripple its movement.

The Puppet did a standing backflip, dodging the Tang Sword, and even managed to throw in a kick at Li Banfeng midair.

Li Banfeng dodged the kick and took out the Wine Gourd, intending to burn the Puppet down.

The Puppet bounced away in a string of small hops, getting behind the Spectrometer and avoiding the Wine Gourd's spill.

The Wine Gourd wanted to spray a mist of liquor and burn the entire lab.

Li Banfeng patted the Wine Gourd to stop her.

The Medicine King's wine had limited power against high-level Cultivators, but for normal people, it was way too potent.

If he used a liquor mist for an indiscriminate attack, it would be extremely hard to put the fire out afterward.

Besides, this still wasn't the Craftsman Cultivation himself. Never mind how expensive all this experimental equipment was—there were so many people in here, they couldn't all be buried with a single Puppet.

Li Banfeng chased behind the Spectrometer and exchanged two moves with the Puppet. The Puppet slid and dove under the constant low-temperature unit, and Li Banfeng slid right after it, diving under as well.

The two traded a few blows under the constant-temperature unit, then the Puppet crawled out, took two long steps, and circled around to the back of the unit.

Li Banfeng also used long steps to circle around; the Puppet slid again and ended up in front of the office desk.

Li Banfeng used a slide step to chase to the desk; the Puppet put its left foot forward, right foot left, spun twice through the aisle between two sets of equipment, and reached the window.

Li Banfeng didn't make it to the window. While spinning with the Puppet just now, he accidentally stepped on a medicine vial on the floor and twisted his hip bone.

That vial was the one Geng Congyi used to hold the Dye; when Li Banfeng shoved him away earlier, it had fallen to the floor.

How could he just happen to step on this vial?

No, that wasn't the point. The point was: why the hell was he spinning around with a Puppet?

Li Banfeng couldn't figure it out either!

He knew the Path-breaking Technique and also had Unimpeded; what was he doing spinning circles with a Puppet?

The Puppet leaped out the window and slid sideways at full tilt, sprinting madly into the distance.

Li Banfeng pocketed the Dye and chased after it, while Geng Congyi called for backup.

Inside the lab, the Puppet had moved incredibly fast, but once it was running in the open, it was at a bit of a disadvantage in terms of pure speed.

Even with an injured hip, Li Banfeng could not only run—he could fly—and he quickly caught up to the Puppet.

Just dealing with this Puppet wasn't enough; where the hell was that Craftsman Cultivation?

As he gave chase, Li Banfeng kept tapping the Silk-pulling Earrings.

The Silk-pulling Earrings were nervous too: "Boss, I really don't see any Craftsman Cultivation nearby."

The Puppet reached an intersection and was kicked from behind by Li Banfeng, flipping onto the ground.

The Puppet didn't crack, and it didn't seem to be seriously damaged either.

What kind of wood was this? Taking a kick that heavy and not even splintering?

Li Banfeng moved in to finish it with another strike, but the Puppet twisted its body—and a big truck that had been driving down the road suddenly swung sideways and barreled toward Li Banfeng.
