"Shut up!"

Lin Chuqiao’s cheeks were slightly flushed with anger, teeth clenched.

Fang Cheng helplessly shook his head, but felt a warmth rising in his heart.

He looked at Lin Chuqiao, her slightly reddened cheeks, and those clear eyes filled with concern and worry.

Though her words were plain, they gave him a solid sense of reassurance.

This girl always appeared when he needed her most, offering help.

Fang Cheng said softly, "Thank you, Chuqiao."

Hearing this, Lin Chuqiao was momentarily stunned.

Then she gently lowered her gaze, a faint smile playing at the corners of her mouth:

"What silly talk... Do we even need to say thanks between us?"

Her voice was light, soft, yet carried a hint of playful rebuke.

Watching this proud and aloof cousin, who usually showed little interest in men, now revealing such a demeanor, like a girl in the throes of first love.

Pan Wendi couldn’t help but marvel from the side:

"Seriously, can you two spare a thought for us lonely souls?"

Bai Ling couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

His teasing lightened the previously somewhat dull atmosphere.

Just then, a light knock on the door sounded outside.

"Come in."

Fang Cheng’s eyes narrowed, immediately calling out.

With a creak, Chen Xu’an, the second young master of the Chen Family, pushed the door open and entered.

His face showed fatigue, but his expression was relatively calm:

"Mr. Bai, as per your request, all Chen Family members in Cui City have been summoned overnight. They’re waiting in the outside hall for your review."

"Thank you for your hard work."

Fang Cheng stood up, stretching his somewhat stiff shoulders:

"Let’s go, once we deal with the remaining matters, we can go back and rest."

Lin Chuqiao and Bai Ling also stood up, while Pan Wendi put away his phone, and the group filed out.

The corridor was quiet, with only the smell of disinfectant wafting through the air.

The group traversed the long passageway, their footsteps making slight echoes on the tiled floor.

After two turns, they reached the rest hall of the VIP ward area.

Before even getting close, they could hear the rustling chatter from inside.

Pushing open the double doors, the scene before them made Fang Cheng raise his eyebrows slightly.

Though it was now past two in the morning, the hall was packed with people, numbering at least fifty or sixty.

They varied in expression, some perplexed, others uneasy, whispering among themselves.

Clearly called over by Chen Xu’an in the middle of the night, without knowing what was going on, their hearts were somewhat anxious.

Especially given the strange incidents that had repeatedly struck the Chen Family.

Yet, faced with Chen Xu’an as the newly appointed Family Head, they could only obey despite their reluctance.

Seeing Fang Cheng and the others enter, the murmuring among the crowd lowered a few tones, eyes collectively fixed on them.

Fang Cheng didn’t waste any words, walking straight to the front of the crowd, eyes slightly squinting.

He took a deep breath, focusing his Spirit.

In the next moment, a strange red glow lit up in his pupils, like flames dancing in his eyes.

"Scavenger’s Eye activated!"

Wherever his gaze swept, he could see clearly the energy fluctuations from each person.

Some people’s aura was as calm as water, while others’ appeared slightly weak and dim.

But they were all within the normal range, without any bizarre spiritual disturbances or signs of Evil Spirit possession.

Fang Cheng’s gaze, like a scanner, swept from left to right, front to back, over each face.

The entire process lasted nearly ten minutes.

Finally, Fang Cheng slowly withdrew his gaze, the red light in his pupils gradually dissipating, returning to their normal black.

He turned his head, giving Chen Xu’an a slight nod.

Chen Xu’an breathed a sigh of relief, wiping nonexistent sweat from his forehead:

"I used Spiritual Eyes to observe earlier too, indeed didn’t detect anything unusual."

Just as the crowd thought they could relax, Lin Chuqiao suddenly furrowed her brows, her gaze sweeping slowly through the crowd.

Her eyes seemed hesitant, as if counting something.

"Is everyone here?"

Lin Chuqiao asked softly, "Why do I feel... like someone is missing."

Bai Ling also caught on, looking around:

"Yeah, where’s that leering third young master? Haven’t seen him."

Chen Xu’an was momentarily stunned, realizing that his third brother, Chen Qiming, was indeed not present.

His expression changed slightly, immediately pulling out his phone to dial Chen Qiming’s number.

"Beep—beep—"

The phone rang for a long time, but went unanswered.

Chen Xu’an furrowed his brows tightly, trying for the second time.

Still no answer.

The third time yielded the same result.
