Fang Cheng has recently started an import-export trading company. Zhou Xiumei, curious about his new venture, visits his office and begins tending to the plants on the terrace. She decorates the office with a new pot of jasmine, hoping to cheer him up. As she finishes her work, Fang Cheng returns from his workout, accompanied by another person whose appearance surprises Zhou Xiumei.

That was a tall and curvy woman.

She was wearing a deep blue custom OL suit, the narrow skirt wrapping around her slender and rounded legs, stepping on a pair of seven-centimeter black thin heels.

Her long hair, originally coiled at the back of her head, was slightly scattered over her shoulders, her eyes flowing with endless allure.

Lin Chuqiao crossed Fang Cheng, naturally stepping forward, his flawless smile on her face:

"Xiumei, got time to come over and play today? Welcome."

That tone and posture, assuredly those of a hostess greeting a guest.

Zhou Xiumei’s fingertips slightly tightened.

But, after experience in song contest auditions and various big scenes, she was no longer the little girl who would blush and lower her head at the drop of a hat.

She stood straight, looking at Lin Chuqiao calmly, smiling as she replied:

"Hello, Sister Chuqiao. I thought about trimming the camellias on the roof terrace this morning, so I came over to have a look."

The tone was calm, without subordination or arrogance.

Lin Chuqiao raised her eyebrow, shifting her gaze from Zhou Xiumei’s face, unintentionally glancing at the new setup on the redwood desk.

Dark blue zisha pot, the lush green leaves embraced the white plum-like buds, the fragrance strikingly alluring.

"Huh?"

Lin Chuqiao murmured softly, stepping over to the desk in her high heels, reaching out to touch the flower branch:

"When did this desk gain a pot of flowers?"

Zhou Xiumei saw it and explained warmly:

"I picked this double-petaled jasmine at the flower market this morning for Brother Cheng. Summer is hot and sleepy, placing it on the desk can refresh and clear the mind, and when looking at files for a long time, glancing at flowers can ease eye strain."

Lin Chuqiao heard this, and her smile slightly faltered.

Her gaze shifted onto the delicate flower pot, an inexplicable sense of heaviness rising in her heart.

Recently, she focused on decorating Fang Cheng’s office, not only filling the roof terrace with exotic flowers but also buying a tens of thousands worth of arhat pine for the living room to enhance the appearance.

Yet she accidentally overlooked this closest spot to Fang Cheng’s private space, allowing this girl to seize the opportunity first!

"Xiumei is really attentive."

Lin Chuqiao quickly suppressed that emotion, turned to Fang Cheng, half-joking, half-coquettishly sighed:

"Not like me, been busy with staff recruitment and tax filing these days, all I’ve got in my head are bills, forgot about Brother Cheng’s desk arrangement. Seems like I’m not doing the logistics manager job well enough."

Fang Cheng stood aside, watching the back-and-forth, subtly competitive interaction between the two women, couldn’t help but twitch his lips.

He lightly coughed, breaking the odd atmosphere:

"Alright, don’t just stand around. It’s almost noon, what’s everyone want to eat?"

"Ah, is it almost noon?"

Lin Chuqiao followed the thread, looked at her watch then suggested:

"Over on Canal Road, a new Sichuan restaurant opened, the chef’s an expert invited from Shu, the boiled beef and fish are authentically flavorful, it’s less than ten minutes drive."

Saying so, she turned to look at Zhou Xiumei standing aside:

"Xiumei, do you have anything you can’t eat?"

Zhou Xiumei lightly pursed her lips, softly replied:

"I can eat anything aside from too spicy."

"Ah, that’s really a pity."

Lin Chuqiao’s eyes curved slightly, a hint of regret in her tone:

"That shop is mainly spicy, seems like we’ll have to change places..."

"It’s so hot outside, no need to run out."

Fang Cheng interrupted their tug-of-war, pointing downstairs:

"The fifth-floor lounge isn’t equipped with complete kitchen facilities? Why not just cook ourselves here at the company."

Lin Chuqiao’s eyes lit up:

"Cooking on the fifth floor? Sure. There’s plenty of food stored in the big fridge downstairs, Jiang Yun just went shopping a couple of days ago, the folks in the Action Department are usually lazy, ordering takeout every day, rarely cooking."

"If by chance anything is missing, I could ask the neighboring seafood shop boss to send over some live fish and shrimp, it’ll be fresh enough."

Zhou Xiumei nodded, tightening the apron around her waist:

"Then I’ll assist Brother Cheng."

The three of them went down the stairs to the fifth floor.

The fifth-floor logistics lounge not only had separate rooms but also came equipped with a spacious open kitchen.

The double-door big fridge, stainless steel countertop, and two-burner high-powered gas stove were all available.

Work division was quickly clarified.

Zhou Xiumei moved deftly connecting the water to wash vegetables, peeling garlic cloves, cutting green bamboo shoots and celery neatly.

Lin Chuqiao, on the other hand, rolled up her shirt sleeves revealing a pair of pale, delicate forearms, processing the freshly sent over sea bass and shrimp by the sink.

Fang Cheng stood at the chef’s position, tying on a black apron, reaching out to flip the gas stove switch.

Blue flames leapt up, licking the pot bottom.

Cooking skill beyond knife work, ingredient pairing, seasoning, the most crucial is mastering the heat.

Typically, top chefs require precise control of a dish’s heat and oil temperature, requiring over a decade of experience, relying on vision and touch to calibrate oil temperature precisely to a specific range.

But Fang Cheng was entirely different.

With his superior Spiritual Perception, the physical changes of the entire iron pot were as clear as data on a precise instrument.

Oil splashed into the pot, heat waves surged.

He could accurately perceive the viscosity change of peanut oil when heated to a hundred and eighty degrees, could distinctly observe the microscopic process of fish skin locking moisture instantaneously encountering hot oil.

Even could judge by feel the exact second to remove ingredients from the pot to maintain the most exquisite tender texture.
