After a day at the Special Search Team Headquarters, Fang Cheng, Ma Donghe, and Hou Peng leave work and get stuck in rush hour traffic. The three discuss their departments: Ma Donghe boasts about an arm-wrestling victory, Hou Peng describes the boring Information Section, and Fang Cheng mentions his laid-back day in the Medical Division, including lunch with Wei Zheng.

After finishing the meal, everyone had grease at the corners of their mouths and exclaimed in satisfaction. Except for the lack of alcohol, it was as good as any top restaurant out there.

From this, one could see that the Special Search Team, as an important national authority, had benefits and perks fully maxed out, a top-tier standard.

Overall, the first day at the Special Search Team was uneventful and quite plain.

From clocking in, handling entry procedures, to eating and getting off work, the whole process was hardly different from that of ordinary government agencies.

Of course, Fang Cheng was well aware that this was merely because this batch of newcomers was still in the adaptation phase, and had yet to be exposed to the more dangerous special tasks.

Fang Cheng gripped the steering wheel with one hand, his gaze crossing over the roof of the car ahead and onto the city skyline under the setting sun.

Next up was a week of intensive new recruit military training.

Once the military training ended, the official transfer order would be issued, and he would rightfully station at the West Mountain Sanatorium.

According to Cheng Jiashu’s prior instructions, all clues about the burial site of Jiang Chen’s real body pointed towards the West Mountain area.

Moreover, the entrance to that ancient civilization ruin hidden in the mountain forest was also waiting for him to reopen.

It seemed that the work focus and activity range for the coming period needed to shift to West Mountain.

Fang Cheng’s eyes slightly deepened as he contemplated his next action plan.

"Beep——"

A sharp, piercing car horn suddenly blared from the back right, instantly interrupting his thoughts.

Fang Cheng turned to look.

Only to see a modified black Civic forcibly squeezing over from the solid line lane on the right.

The other driver paid no mind to safety distance, with the car bonnet almost touching the right fender of the Land Rover, forcing Fang Cheng to stomp on the brakes.

The Land Rover’s body shook violently, its tires leaving a clear black mark on the asphalt.

"Are you blind?! In a hurry to reincarnate?!"

Ma Donghe exploded in rage, slamming down the window, and shouted curses half out the window.

The black Civic showed no intent of slowing down to apologize.

The driver’s side window rolled down, and a tattooed arm extended out, brazenly flipping a middle finger at the Land Rover behind.

Then, the exhaust pipe roared arrogantly.

The Civic, like a slick mudfish, weaved through traffic gaps, continuing to flaunt its dangerous and rough driving skills.

Ma Donghe’s anger flared even more, cursing incessantly.

Seeing this, a glimmer of heat flashed in Fang Cheng’s eyes.

The provocation instantly ignited his competitive spirit.

"Hold on tight."

He said in a deep voice, quickly flicking the paddle shifter.

The hefty Land Rover emitted a low growl.

Fang Cheng’s gaze swiftly scanned the road conditions ahead, accurately calculating the speed and trajectory of all surrounding vehicles within a second.

Then he sharply turned the steering wheel to the left, pressing down on the accelerator.

The massive SUV maneuvered with an agility unbefitting its size, squeezing past the left side of a bus’s rearview mirror straight into the overtaking lane.

The black Civic was just about to seize the gap and merge into the inner lane.

But the wide front of the Land Rover already loomed like a black beast, locking the Civic’s path firmly.

Fang Cheng kept a steady grip on the steering wheel, feeling the vibrations from the chassis, maintaining the car speed at a critical point.

Every time he tapped the brake lightly or slightly adjusted the throttle, he did so just right to wedge into the Civic’s blind spots and lane change points.

No matter how the Civic tried to steer sharply, the Land Rover remained persistently glued on its side barely five centimeters away like a shadow.

"Hit him! Hit that son of a bitch!"

Ma Donghe, in the passenger seat, excitedly slapped his thighs and shouted at the top of his lungs.

Hou Peng, in the back seat, also held tightly onto the ceiling handle, cheering loudly.

Up ahead, a right turn-off ramp appeared.

The Civic driver, seeing no escape, attempted to accelerate and overtake from the outside.

A smile tugged at the corner of Fang Cheng’s mouth, and he pressed the steering wheel to the right.

The Land Rover’s imposing body instantly squeezed the Civic’s driving space.

The Civic driver, terrified by the sudden lane change, slammed hard on the brakes.

Accompanied by the screech of tires, the black Civic skidded across the road in a messy "S" pattern, its front nearly crashing into the ramp’s crash barrels, ultimately stopping clumsily by the roadside.

In contrast, the Land Rover SUV roared contently as it sped off into the distance.

Inside the black Civic, the atmosphere dropped to an ice-cold level.

Four burly men with close-cropped hair and bulging muscles sat inside, their expressions sullen.

"Damn it! Acting all arrogant just because he drives a Land Rover!"

The crew-cut man in the driver’s seat pounded the steering wheel, cursing through gritted teeth:

"If it weren’t for the mission today, I’d have forced that bastard to stop and crippled a leg off him!"

"Shut up, Old Ghost."

In the passenger seat, a young man cast him a cold glance, his voice hoarse:

"Don’t forget our purpose of infiltrating East City this time. Focus on the operation, don’t make trouble on the road and risk exposing our tracks."

As soon as he finished speaking, a sharp siren faintly sounded from behind.

The two accomplices in the back seat immediately sat upright and urged:

"Traffic police are coming, let’s go!"

The driver called "Old Ghost" changed his expression, spat on the floor fiercely.

He quickly engaged the gear and floored the accelerator.

The Civic roared as it fled into the ramp, quickly disappearing into the traffic.
