Starting as the President of a Billionaire Group Chapter 1443 - 1417: Punching Bag
Previously on Starting as the President of a Billionaire Group...
After Wang Hao left the house, he took a cab and headed toward Star Media Company.
When he arrived at the entrance and paid the driver, Wang Hao got out of the car and walked toward the company gate.
"Who are you looking for?" The security guard at the door stopped Wang Hao.
Because every time it had always been Ye Chen bringing him in, and the security here all basically knew that Ye Chen was the boss, no one ever dared to stop him.
The security guard had no idea he was a newly signed artist, so of course there was no way he’d let him in.
"I’m looking for Ye Chen, Mr. Ye," Wang Hao said.
"You mean President Ye?" the security guard asked, looking puzzled.
"Yeah, President Ye," Wang Hao said quickly.
"How am I supposed to know if you’re telling the truth or not? What if you’re lying to me? If I let you in and something happens, I’ll lose my job." The security guard still had no intention of letting Wang Hao pass.
Helpless, Wang Hao could only try his luck. He took out his phone and called Ye Chen.
At this moment, Ye Chen’s phone was off to the side charging, and he was chatting with Su Wanyi, so he didn’t notice it at all.
Seeing that the call wasn’t answered, Wang Hao called several more times in a row. When he finally heard Ye Chen’s voice on the other end, his heart relaxed.
"President Ye, I’m downstairs. The security guard won’t let me in," Wang Hao said.
"Wang Hao, give the phone to the security guard, I’ll talk to him," Ye Chen said to Wang Hao.
Following Ye Chen’s instructions, Wang Hao handed the phone to the security guard and said, "President Ye wants to talk to you."
Hearing that, the security guard hurriedly took the phone and said respectfully, "Hello, President Ye."
"Wang Hao is a newly signed artist with our company. Please let him in," Ye Chen said with a smile.
"Alright, President Ye," the security guard replied with a smile.
After hanging up, the security guard handed the phone back to Wang Hao and then let him through.
"Please come in, Mr. Wang."
At this point, the security guard’s attitude toward Wang Hao was no longer so tough; instead, he was very polite.
Wang Hao walked into the company and headed toward the office. He knew Ye Chen was definitely there.
He knocked lightly on the door, and Ye Chen’s voice came from inside: "Come in."
Wang Hao walked in and saw that both Su Wanyi and Ye Chen were inside. He greeted them, "Hello, President Su, President Ye."
Two People gestured for Wang Hao to sit down and rest for a bit.
After something like that had just happened, Wang Hao had no mood to rest; inside, he was excited.
"President Su, President Ye, do you know about that song?" Wang Hao asked.
"Mm, we just found out," Ye Chen said calmly.
Then he continued, "Wang Hao, you sang well. I told you before, if you’re gold, you’ll shine sooner or later."
Ye Chen’s words were a high evaluation of Wang Hao, but Wang Hao knew that if it weren’t for this song composed by Ye Chen, he never would have had the chance to sing it.
"I think the main credit goes to President Ye’s composition, this song ’Simple Love’. It doesn’t have much to do with me," Wang Hao said modestly.
Ye Chen was very satisfied with Wang Hao’s answer, not because he wanted to show off anything about himself.
It was because Wang Hao was humble, and that was exactly what Ye Chen appreciated about him.
In fact, aside from those two artists who defected, the other relatively good one in the company was Zhang Tao. But from what Ye Chen had learned, Zhang Tao was arrogant and conceited, and looked down on everyone.
Originally, Su Wanyi had planned to cultivate Zhang Tao carefully, but Ye Chen refused and instead found this Wang Hao off the street.
"Wang Hao, go to the conference room first. We’ll be there in a bit. Once you’re there, don’t talk too much," Ye Chen said.
"Okay, President Ye." After saying that, Wang Hao left the office.
With an uneasy heart, he walked into the conference room and found a seat to sit down.
At this moment, the conference room was already full. Although Wang Hao had never seen these people before, he knew they were all company executives.
Everyone looked at this young man in front of them with surprise, but said nothing. After all, anyone who could walk into the conference room had to be someone related to the company; he might very well be a newly signed artist.
Just then, a young man with dyed yellow hair walked in from outside. He seemed about the same age as Wang Hao, but his face was full of arrogance.
He walked up to Wang Hao and said, "This is my seat. Get up."
Wang Hao didn’t want to argue with him. He stood up and let him sit, then moved to another empty seat and sat down.
The executives all frowned at the young man’s behavior in front of them, finding it truly infuriating.
But that was all. No one stood up for Wang Hao, mainly because this person’s position in the company was unusual. Aside from Li Yang and Yang Miao, he was the most famous artist in the company.
Zhang Tao sat next to Wang Hao with a smug look on his face, smiling as he looked at him. "Wang Hao, you’ve got some nerve. A little newbie who just signed with the company already dares to take private gigs outside. You really don’t know the rules."
Now everyone realized that the young man sitting next to Zhang Tao was actually the company’s newly signed artist. They had only heard the name before and had never seen him in person.
"I didn’t take any private gigs," Wang Hao denied flatly.
Originally, Zhang Tao thought that with Li Yang and Yang Miao betraying the company, he would be able to move up, and as a veteran artist, the company would surely push him hard. But he hadn’t expected the company to sign two new artists instead.
Although Zhang Tao was somewhat unhappy about it, it was, after all, the company’s decision, and he couldn’t show it too obviously.
Since he couldn’t vent his anger on the bosses, he could only vent it on this new artist.
Even though this was their first meeting, there was no way he was going to pass up this opportunity.
"You still dare say you didn’t take a private gig outside? Then what’s with that song?" Zhang Tao asked.
As a senior, Zhang Tao knew that all of an artist’s schedules and activities—filming TV dramas, movies, singing, etc.—should all be arranged by the company.
Zhang Tao had been with the company for years and was very familiar with everyone there, and he had never heard that the company had arranged a singing job for the new artist.
What’s more, as a newcomer, how could he possibly get such an opportunity? That normally required a few years of training within the company.
So from beginning to end, Zhang Tao didn’t believe a word of Wang Hao’s rebuttal.
"Wang Hao, as your senior, if you apologize to me for what you just said, I can help you speak up during the meeting later. Do you know why this meeting was called?" Zhang Tao asked, looking at Wang Hao with a playful expression.
"I... I don’t know," Wang Hao stammered.
Seeing Wang Hao acting so timid, everyone else could only shake their heads helplessly. This artist didn’t have the slightest aura of a big star; he looked completely like a pushover.
