Ye Chen generously gave Wang Hao a job and refused his offer to return the money, while Wang Hao and his girlfriend planned to repay the kindness later. Su Wanyi returned to the office, and after a brief, affectionate exchange with Ye Chen, she was reminded by her grandfather of his upcoming birthday banquet. It turned out she had forgotten and hadn't prepared a gift, leading her to ask Ye Chen to accompany her tonight, aware her grandfather intended to scrutinize her boyfriend.

"Honey, what banquet are you attending?" Ye Chen asked curiously.

He just overheard Su Wanyi talking on the phone with Elder Su and guessed it was related to this matter.

"Tonight is Grandpa’s birthday banquet, and I actually forgot about such an important thing," Su Wanyi said with a pouty expression.

"Better late than never," Ye Chen said with a comforting smile.

Su Wanyi didn’t say anything, just nodded.

"Honey, I think you should go alone, I’ll just skip it," Ye Chen suggested to Su Wanyi.

He’s never liked these kinds of events, feeling that the people are quite pretentious and dislike using them as a weapon.

"How can that be okay? Grandpa specifically mentioned to bring my boyfriend. If you don’t go, should I find someone else?" Su Wanyi glared at Ye Chen and said.

"Of course not, if you dare take another man, you’d better watch out or I’ll spank you," Ye Chen said, pretending to be angry.

"That’s more like it," Su Wanyi nodded in satisfaction.

At this moment, Ye Chen suddenly remembered something and said, "Isn’t it a bit inappropriate for me to attend the birthday banquet in these clothes?"

"Of course, actually, it doesn’t matter much to me, but you should make Grandpa proud," Su Wanyi frowned and said.

Ye Chen trusted what Su Wanyi said very much.

Since Elder Su cares so much, Ye Chen could only take care of the old man’s face by changing into a new outfit.

But not wanting to go home change, he could only go to the mall to buy one.

"Honey, I find it too troublesome to go home to change clothes, and later I’ll have to come back and pick you up, which would take a lot of time," Ye Chen expressed his thoughts.

"I think the same, instead of going home to change clothes, it’s easier to buy them at the store, but hubby, I’m afraid I can’t go with you since I haven’t finished the things on hand," Su Wanyi said apologetically.

Ye Chen had long anticipated that he would have to go to the mall to buy clothes alone, since he has such a busy wife.

"No problem, I can handle this, but, of course, the clothes I buy won’t be as nice as those you pick for me," Ye Chen said with a smile.

"Your words are as sweet as honey today," Su Wanyi said in praise.

"Honey, do you want to try it?" Ye Chen walked up to Su Wanyi and said.

Upon hearing this, Su Wanyi blushed instantly.

"You rascal, what are you thinking in your head?" Su Wanyi said.

She actually wanted to call Ye Chen a hooligan, but swallowed the words, feeling that would be inappropriate.

Then she continued: "Okay, enough joking, if I don’t get moving soon, I’ll be late for Grandpa’s birthday banquet."

Ye Chen replied helplessly: "You get busy, I’ll head out."

With that, he walked towards the door.

Just as Ye Chen stepped out of the door, Su Wanyi’s stomach began to growl.

She felt too embarrassed to call out to Ye Chen, but she hadn’t eaten since morning.

"Forget it, just bear with it, it’ll probably pass soon," Su Wanyi thought to herself.

Ye Chen walked out of the company building and didn’t drive straight to the mall but strolled to a nearby porridge shop instead.

This porridge shop is very famous, many people drive there just for a bowl of porridge.

Of course, given how popular the porridge shop is, there are naturally many people waiting in line.

But fortunately, this time there weren’t many people, and Ye Chen was third in line.

When it was his turn, the server looked at Ye Chen with a smile and asked, "Sir, what would you like to order?"

"One bowl of millet porridge and two vegetable buns, to go," Ye Chen replied.

It didn’t take long before the server handed the packed bag to Ye Chen with a smile, "Sir, please take care, and we look forward to seeing you again."

Ye Chen nodded and took the bag, leaving to return to the company.

In the office, Su Wanyi held her deflated, hungry stomach with a dejected face. Actually, she didn’t have to let Ye Chen buy food; she could ask her secretary to help.

But Su Wanyi felt too embarrassed to do so, never liked troubling others, which is closely related to her strong personality.

There’s a saying about suffering just for the sake of pride, and it might very well apply to people like Su Wanyi.

Feeling dizzy from hunger, Su Wanyi couldn’t muster the energy to work.

She lay on the desk feeling as if seeing stars.

Suddenly, she smelled food’s aroma.

Su Wanyi thought to herself, "It’s an illusion, surely it’s because I’m dizzy from hunger."

To her surprise, the aroma grew closer, more intense, so real.

And then she saw Ye Chen’s figure, making her even more sure this was a hallucination, after all, Ye Chen just left—how could he be back so soon?

Ye Chen saw Su Wanyi lying on the desk and shook his head helplessly, thinking, "This girl really doesn’t let people have peace of mind."

"Honey, get up and eat," Ye Chen said.

At this moment, Su Wanyi realized this was no dream, but something real and happening.

She knew Ye Chen had returned and brought food with him.

"Hubby, I’m almost dying of hunger," Su Wanyi said looking at the food in Ye Chen’s hands.

"I knew you’d be hungry, so I got these for you," Ye Chen said as he took the millet porridge and vegetable buns out of the bag and handed them to Su Wanyi.

He knew Su Wanyi had a sensitive stomach, so drinking millet porridge could warm her stomach, and she preferred vegetable buns, so he bought them.

The millet porridge was steaming hot, emitting a delightful aroma that looked very appetizing.

Already hungry, seeing this made Su Wanyi’s stomach growl even more fiercely.

She scooped up a spoonful of millet porridge, put it in her mouth, and slowly swallowed it, feeling her stomach warm instantly.

Su Wanyi was sipping millet porridge and nibbling on vegetable buns, her face radiating happiness.

"Oh! Honey, what would you do without me? You’re grown up but still don’t know how to take care of yourself," Ye Chen said with a sigh.

"That’s why I’ve clung to you for this lifetime, you can’t escape even if you want to," Su Wanyi said with a mischievous smile.

"That’s great, even if you ask me to leave, I won’t," Ye Chen said softly as he gently stroked Su Wanyi’s hair.

Upon hearing this, Su Wanyi felt a deep sense of happiness, knowing Ye Chen is a man worthy of her trust.

"Alright then, honey, enjoy your meal, I’ll go buy clothes," Ye Chen said pitifully.

Though feeling reluctant, Su Wanyi knew she had to let him go, given how busy she was.

"Hubby, go ahead, I’ll see you soon," Su Wanyi waved at Ye Chen and said.

Ye Chen turned and walked out of the office again.
