Starting as the President of a Billionaire Group Chapter 1288 - 1263: The Scheme Succeeds

If Li Ming knew Ye Chen had a system, he’d be even more shocked.

The reason Ye Chen decided to buy this unfinished building was because he wanted to test out that Divine-level Investment; now the opportunity had finally come.

If it was really like the system said, as long as he used this skill, no matter what he invested in, he’d make money.

Then this unfinished building of Li Ming’s shouldn’t be an exception either.

Ye Chen knew Li Ming wanted to get rid of this building as soon as possible and sell it off. First, because he was really short of cash and had been forced into a corner by creditors; second, because even if the building was completed it would never make money—there was nothing around it that could attract people, and the surrounding environment was particularly bad.

No wonder Li Ming ended up like this. This old classmate of his was really a fool—people said real estate investment made money, and he just threw money in without even checking the surrounding environment. The best outcome for building here was breaking even at most, basically just playing for nothing.

"Ye Chen, thank you, really, thank you so much for helping me this much." Li Ming said again, face full of gratitude.

The amount of money Ye Chen had given him was just too much; he had never expected it.

In fact, Li Ming had lied to Ye Chen. It wasn’t that their classmates refused to help him before.

Those classmates who usually had a good relationship with him, once they heard Li Ming was in trouble and needed help, all offered to put up money so he could finish the building.

But Li Ming turned them down. That wasn’t what he wanted—what he wanted was to sell off that unfinished building.

Those rich classmates were all cunning as monkeys. How could they not know that even if the building was completed it couldn’t turn a profit? Besides, they didn’t have that much capital either.

One of the classmates gave Li Ming an idea: go ask Ye Chen for help. And that’s how the follow-up act of Li Ming playing the pitiful victim in front of Ye Chen came about.

Ye Chen knew nothing about any of this. Even if he knew, he would’ve made the same choice and helped Li Ming.

Ye Chen had been worrying about not having a chance to try out the Divine-level Investment; now that an opportunity showed up, how could he possibly let it slip by?

"No need to thank me. Just don’t make blind investments like this again," Ye Chen reminded him kindly.

"Yeah, this time counts as a lesson. I’ll definitely be cautious with investments from now on, and I absolutely won’t do something like this again." Li Ming nodded as he spoke.

"Did you drive? I’ll give you a ride back," Ye Chen said with a smile.

"No need, I’ll grab a cab home. You go on, I’ve already taken up so much of your time. I really feel bad about it." Li Ming said apologetically.

"Alright then, be careful on the way. I’ll head off first." Ye Chen waved at Li Ming as he spoke.

He walked toward his sports car, and just as he was about to get in, he suddenly remembered there was still one more thing he hadn’t done.

Ye Chen turned around and walked back toward Li Ming.

Seeing Ye Chen return, Li Ming looked surprised and asked, "Ye Chen, what’s up?"

"Oh right, Li Ming, you still haven’t given me your account number. How am I supposed to transfer the money to you?" Ye Chen said.

Li Ming thought Ye Chen was about to go back on his word and couldn’t help getting nervous. When he heard what Ye Chen actually said, the heart he’d been holding in his throat finally settled.

"Uh, there’s really no rush for the money. I’ll text you when I get back." Li Ming said politely.

Ye Chen knew he was just saying that for form’s sake, so he merely nodded and said, "Alright, I’ll wait for your text."

After watching Ye Chen leave, Li Ming glanced around, then walked up to a BMW, opened the door, and climbed in.

What Li Ming had said just now wasn’t entirely true; it was just to win Ye Chen’s sympathy and pity.

If he hadn’t done that, there’s no way Ye Chen would’ve given him the money to buy that unfinished building.

Li Ming was indeed in debt, but not to loan sharks—it was to the bank.

Every loan comes with a repayment period, and the deadline was actually still far off. There weren’t any creditors hounding him at all; he’d made that part up.

As long as he got that unfinished building off his hands, Li Ming wouldn’t care about anything else. Even though he did feel a bit guilty toward Ye Chen, he still did it—playing pitiful to gain sympathy, even throwing away his dignity as a man.

Ye Chen had only driven a short distance when his text alert sounded.

He glanced at it—it was Li Ming sending over his account number. Just moments ago he’d been saying there was no rush, yet he sent it so quickly. Clearly, he wanted Ye Chen to hurry up and transfer the money.

But Ye Chen didn’t feel any resentment or discomfort about this. He also wanted to transfer the money to Li Ming as soon as possible.

"Got it." Ye Chen replied with a short message.

By the time he got home, it was already pretty late.

After changing clothes and washing up in the bathroom, Ye Chen lay down on the bed.

He had to turn in early tonight; tomorrow he still had to pick up Su Wanyi and go see his parents.

Maybe it was because his parents were getting older—they didn’t like noise and preferred peace and quiet. So Ye Chen bought them a villa in the suburbs, where it was not only quiet but they could also plant flowers and vegetables and live the kind of life they wanted.

The only downside was that it took more than two hours to drive there.

So he had to go pick up Su Wanyi earlier tomorrow. Besides, when you go home to see your parents, you can’t show up empty-handed. Even if the old folks say they don’t need them to buy anything, it’s still a token of their feelings.

The next day, after getting up, Ye Chen put on a set of casual clothes. Normally he didn’t like wearing formal suits; they made him feel constrained.

Unless he was attending a banquet or some important occasion, he rarely dressed formally. Most of the time his outfits were pretty casual.

Ye Chen was handsome, and he looked good in anything. Even in his food-delivery uniform he could make a whole crowd swoon.

After changing and finishing breakfast, Ye Chen drove out.

He had just left the house when his phone rang.

He glanced at the screen—it was Su Wanyi calling. Ye Chen picked up and said, "Wanyi, I’ve already headed out. Just wait for me at home."

He had originally been planning to call her; he hadn’t expected this girl to be so proactive.

"Mm, Ye Chen, when you get here just come straight in," Su Wanyi said.

"Okay, see you in a bit." Ye Chen hung up after speaking and drove toward Su Wanyi’s place.

He hadn’t been driving long when he arrived at the villa complex where Su Wanyi lived.

The security guards already recognized Ye Chen, and seeing that luxury car again, they quickly let him through.

After parking the car, Ye Chen lightly pressed the doorbell. From inside came Su Wanyi’s voice: "Ye Chen, just a sec."

The door opened. He had originally thought Su Wanyi would already be dressed and ready—why else would she call him so early in the morning?

But he hadn’t expected this girl to still be in her pajamas, which left Ye Chen a little speechless.

"Ye Chen, come in," Su Wanyi said with a smile.

"Wanyi, did you just get up?" Ye Chen asked, looking at the pajama-clad beauty in front of him.

"What are you talking about? I’ve been up for ages. You have no idea how busy I’ve been all morning." Su Wanyi said with a wronged expression.
