Su Wanyi and Song Xiaoxiao meet and discover they both love Ye Chen. They quickly bond, getting along famously. Their pleasant meal is interrupted by Su Wanyi's former university classmate, Xiao Yang, who shamelessly tries to rekindle their past relationship and then crudely propositions Song Xiaoxiao when rebuffed. Ye Chen is angered by Xiao Yang's audacity.

Seeing Xiao Yang’s confrontational words, Su Wanyi’s beautiful face darkened considerably.

Never in her life had anyone dared to speak to her in such a manner, especially not in a public place.

"You need to explain yourself clearly," Su Wanyi demanded, her voice laced with anger.

"Very well, since you insist, I will," Xiao Yang responded, his gaze fixed on Su Wanyi. "This man you're with is your sugar baby, and the woman beside him is likely his girlfriend. Su Wanyi, oh Su Wanyi, how could you have fallen so low after leaving me?"

Xiao Yang’s outburst drew the attention of the surrounding diners, who all turned to look at Ye Chen’s table with surprise.

Whispers and pointing fingers began to circulate amongst the crowd towards Su Wanyi and Ye Chen.

"That man is truly shameless. So young and healthy, yet he becomes a kept man."

"And the woman isn't much better. She looks so refined, but has such peculiar tastes."

"I actually feel a bit sorry for that woman. The man she's supporting is using her money to keep another woman."

Though spoken in hushed tones, Ye Chen and the others could clearly discern the malicious intent behind the gossip.

At this point, Su Wanyi’s delicate face was flushed crimson with rage. She never imagined Xiao Yang would stoop to such a level.

This incident further solidified her belief that leaving Xiao Yang had been the correct decision; the man was nothing but a scoundrel, unworthy of her affections.

Listening to the murmurs from the crowd, a triumphant smirk spread across Xiao Yang’s face. This was precisely the outcome he had desired.

Xiao Yang continued with a smile, "Su Wanyi, your situation is far worse than mine. To secure a man’s affection, you condone him using your wealth to maintain another woman. Don't you see how cheap and pathetic that makes you look?"

Just as Su Wanyi was about to retort, Ye Chen gently placed a hand on her arm to stop her.

This Xiao Yang, standing before them, truly had no sense of restraint, his words becoming increasingly venomous.

However, given the public setting, Ye Chen knew that physically confronting him would undoubtedly involve the police.

If that happened, who knew what further schemes this guy might concoct. Letting him continue his tirade, however, was simply not in Ye Chen’s nature.

Suddenly, a thought of the reward Lan Zhan had given him earlier, the Silence Skill, flashed through his mind.

Ye Chen silently activated the skill in his heart. "Silence Skill."

For some inexplicable reason, as Xiao Yang prepared to speak again, he found his mouth sealed shut, utterly incapable of uttering a sound.

He stared at Ye Chen, pointing frantically at his own lips.

Ye Chen, who had remained quiet thus far, deliberately turned his gaze towards the flustered man and asked, "Speak up, I can’t hear you."

Xiao Yang, who had a multitude of sarcastic remarks ready for Su Wanyi, was now unable to voice a single one. A wave of intense frustration washed over him.

Compounded by Ye Chen’s taunting words, Xiao Yang felt his anger reaching a boiling point, as if his lungs were about to combust.

Witnessing this peculiar turn of events, the crowd’s attention shifted from Ye Chen and Su Wanyi towards Xiao Yang.

"What’s happening? Why did that man suddenly stop talking?"

"It’s really strange. He was pointing at others just now, and now he can’t say a word."

"I know, what is going on?"

At this moment, an enraged expression contorted Xiao Yang’s face. He raised a clenched fist towards Ye Chen.

"Oh? You want to fight?" Ye Chen’s face remained completely devoid of fear.

In truth, Ye Chen almost wished Xiao Yang would make the first move. That way, if the police were called, he would be on solid ground, acting in self-defense against an aggressor.

If he didn’t retaliate, wouldn’t that make him look foolish?

Xiao Yang seemed to sense the shift in dynamics and quickly lowered his fist.

A pang of disappointment shot through Ye Chen; things weren't unfolding as he had anticipated.

Had Xiao Yang attacked, Ye Chen would have undoubtedly taught him a harsh lesson.

Su Wanyi and Song Xiaoxiao, having witnessed Xiao Yang’s earlier aggressive posture, felt a flicker of concern for Ye Chen.

Now that Xiao Yang had backed down, they both let out a sigh of relief.

However, Xiao Yang’s sudden inability to speak left them both with a lingering sense of unease and suspicion.

Su Wanyi’s eyes scanned Ye Chen’s face, searching for any flicker of a clue.

Yet, Ye Chen’s expression was one of pure innocence, entirely devoid of any malicious glee.

The waitress who had served their table earlier approached, noticing the evident distress on Xiao Yang’s face. "Sir, are you feeling unwell?" she inquired.

Xiao Yang, still unable to speak, could only gesture repeatedly towards his mouth, utterly voiceless.

With no other recourse, the waitress promptly dialed emergency services.

A short while later, an ambulance arrived. Two paramedics emerged and, with a visible lack of enthusiasm, escorted the mute Xiao Yang away.

Ye Chen knew Xiao Yang was in for a rather unpleasant experience. Inability to speak would surely lead to a laryngoscopy at the hospital.

Xiao Yang, in reality, had no physical ailment; he was merely under the effect of Ye Chen’s Silence Skill.

This particular technique did not require Ye Chen to manually deactivate it; its effects would naturally dissipate after an hour.

As predicted, once Xiao Yang reached the hospital, he was subjected to a battery of tests. It was during this process that his voice unexpectedly returned.

The moment Xiao Yang left the restaurant, the surrounding chatter about him ceased entirely, and no one harbored any suspicions towards Ye Chen.

It was entirely possible that Xiao Yang had strained his vocal cords from all the shouting in the restaurant.

This brief encounter was merely a minor distraction, and while Xiao Yang's abrupt arrival and departure did not dampen Ye Chen's spirits, it certainly soured Su Wanyi's mood.

"Come now, Wanyi, it's a joyous occasion, don't look so downcast. A smile, please," Ye Chen attempted to cheer up the young woman opposite him.

Su Wanyi felt a wave of displeasure wash over her. The earlier incident, though not as scandalous as Xiao Yang had implied, still left her feeling quite uncomfortable.

"Indeed, Sister Wanyi, that fellow is nothing but a scoundrel. Why would you lend any credence to his words? Try not to dwell on it," Song Xiaoxiao chimed in, supporting Ye Chen's attempt to comfort her.

Su Wanyi, who had been initially unhappy, found her spirits instantly lifted by the memory of Xiao Yang's recent demeanor.

"You are absolutely right. Why should I allow someone like that to anger me? It would only diminish my own dignity," Su Wanyi declared with a smile.

"Since you're feeling better, let's finally begin our meal," Ye Chen said, a smile gracing his lips.

His enjoyment of the meal had been thoroughly interrupted, leaving him feeling rather displeased.

Xiao Yang had been akin to a bothersome, buzzing fly, creating a constant racket.

With the fly now gone, he could finally dine in peace.

Ye Chen, Su Wanyi, and Song Xiaoxiao commenced their enjoyment of the simple bliss that delicious food provided.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Xiao Yang, having endured significant distress, was now vocally agitated like a shrew in the confines of a hospital, despite his continuous efforts to signal his inability to speak.

Unexpectedly, the medical professionals seemed unfazed by his silent protests and proceeded with a comprehensive examination of his entire body.

Xiao Yang was utterly speechless with frustration, yet he remained incapable of uttering a single sound.
