"Ye Chen, I apologize for my rudeness." Song Xiaoxiao released her grip on Ye Chen, her head bowed in shame, like a child who had misbehaved.

"It's not that. I'm concerned it might negatively impact you, as you still have a year before your graduation," Ye Chen voiced his apprehension.

Hearing his words, Song Xiaoxiao's heart felt a surge of warmth. She had initially assumed Ye Chen was worried about being seen in their embrace, fearing that Su Wanyi might discover their relationship.

To her surprise, Ye Chen's primary concern was her well-being.

"Xiaoxiao, you seem a little unusual today. What's on your mind?" Ye Chen inquired, observing the young woman before him.

"It's nothing, really. I saw what happened to Li Mei and it made me think of my own situation. I just fear that one day, I might lose you too," Song Xiaoxiao admitted softly.

"Silly girl, what are you imagining with that head of yours? How could you possibly lose me? Furthermore, your circumstances are entirely different from Li Mei's," Ye Chen reassured her.

"How are they different? I think it's quite similar. Both of us had to be secretive, afraid of being discovered by another woman, didn't we?" Song Xiaoxiao couldn't find a counter-argument.

Ever since witnessing Li Mei's confrontation with that imposing woman, she felt the day Su Wanyi would confront them was rapidly approaching.

It's a well-known fact that secrets cannot be kept forever; inevitably, Su Wanyi would discover their affair.

Song Xiaoxiao understood her eventual fate would likely be no better than Li Mei's, as no woman would readily accept a third party who attempts to steal her boyfriend.
