Leon engaged in intimacy with Seraphine and Ira after a period of intense training, using his abilities to restore them afterward.

Soon, Seraphine and Ira stirred on their own.

Leon was already awake — had been for a while, not restless, just comfortable in the specific way that made getting up feel unnecessary. Both of them warm against him, the room quiet, the dimensional world doing its thing outside. He hadn’t been sleeping deeply. Just enjoying the particular peace of lying still between two people he genuinely wanted to be next to.

he thought simply.

Then Seraphine moved, and Ira made the sound she always made when waking up — a short noise that was half protest and half acceptance — and the morning became practical.

They dressed quickly. Seraphine stepped into her new armor, the Stormveil Regalia fitting exactly as she’d hoped it would — moving with her rather than on her; every adjustment she made met with zero resistance from the material. She ran one hand along the new katana’s grip and said nothing, but the expression she made said she approved and wasn’t going to make an event of it.

Ira pulled the Ember Sovereign set on with considerably less ceremony, more interested in the spear than the armor, turning the Blazing Fang in her hands once before nodding to herself with the satisfied expression of someone whose instincts had confirmed what their eyes were telling them.

Leon thought, watching her exactly

He strapped his epic-ranked sword to his waist and checked the revival treasures — both equipped, both ready. He’d checked three times already. He checked again.

"Ready?" he asked.

"Yes," Seraphine said.

"Obviously," Ira said.

He teleported them.

The dungeon location was an ice field.

Snow fell steadily; the ground below was solid ice that caught and scattered the dimensional world’s ambient light in cold blues and whites. The atmosphere had weight to it — not normal cold, not the kind that made you reach for a jacket, but the deep bone-settling kind that found gaps in your awareness and settled into them. The world upgrade had clearly done something to this region; whatever it had been before intensified into something with genuine presence.

Around the giant swirling portal — which crackled with energy that was visible from a significant distance, the air around it warping slightly with the force of something about to open — nine hundred or so equipped fighters had gathered. Fully outfitted, the distribution of his clones was visible in how they were carrying themselves. Revival treasures, mana, and healing artifacts, the borrowed weapons and armor. Ready.

But it wasn’t just nine hundred.

Behind them, around them, spread across the ice field in every direction — nearly ten thousand people. The entire population of his dimensional world, or close to it. Ninety percent of them present, the red-skinned Pyrans dominant in number but the humans visible throughout, and the Pyrans in their human-style clothing now, the adjustment to the new wardrobe having happened gradually enough that it no longer looked like costume.

The cold that was bothering some of the humans wasn’t bothering the Pyrans. Fire affinity had practical advantages in an ice field that went beyond combat, and Leon could see the Pyrans managing it naturally while the humans around them were dealing with varying degrees of discomfort. What he also noticed was the Pyrans helping — small gestures, a hand on a shoulder, a brief warmth shared without fanfare. The integration that had seemed uncertain when the Pyrans first arrived had become something else over the months.

he thought.

The person who stood out from all of it was Xyra.

Positioned closest to the swirling portal, standing alone in the way that certain presences naturally created space around themselves without requiring it — an ethereal quality in how she existed in the scene, the world spirit visibly separate from the world’s inhabitants even while standing among them. She was wearing different robes from what she usually wore around him, something more composed, less deliberately provocative.

Leon felt genuinely relieved about that.

The admiring looks directed at her from the crowd were considerable. He noticed them and said nothing.

Then he made his entry and the admiring looks redirected, which he also noticed and also said nothing about, though the awareness of it settled somewhere in the back of his mind with a quality he chose not to examine.

He could see Loriel standing at the forefront with the other participants, positioned near the front of the nine hundred. She caught his eye across the distance and gave a small wave that was more restrained than her usual, the dungeon atmosphere apparently having affected her energy levels.

His clone wasn’t present. Leon wasn’t surprised — same mind, same understanding. The clone was out exploring the vast unexplored sections of his rank three world, a task he’d been putting off for too long, given how much it had expanded during the upgrade. Its presence here wasn’t needed. Getting ten thousand people to an ice field was well within the clone’s operational authority.

He walked toward Xyra with Seraphine and Ira beside him.

He noticed Xyra’s eyes before he’d covered half the distance.

She was watching Seraphine and Ira with her silver eyes fully active, the glow in them carrying a specific quality that Leon recognized immediately and felt a chill about that had nothing to do with the ice field.

he thought.

He was certain of this the way he was certain of very few things.

Seraphine and Ira had both gone slightly stiff. He could feel it without looking at them directly — the subtle shift that happened when someone realized they were being watched by something significantly above their threat ceiling. They’d met Xyra during the training period, had received her advice and her guidance, and had recognized quickly that she was operating at a level well beyond what they could currently perceive the edges of.

Being watched by her with that specific intensity didn’t feel like appreciation. It felt like being the most interesting thing in the room to something ancient and powerful that had decided to pay full attention.

Seraphine was probably thinking. Leon knew her well enough to guess.

Ira was probably thinking. Leon knew her well enough to guess that too.

He cleared his throat.

"How long until it opens?" he asked Xyra, injecting the question into the atmosphere with the specific intention of breaking whatever she was doing with her eyes.

Xyra’s silver gaze moved to him.
