Damon begins absorbing the essence of millions of corpses on the battlefield, pushing his bloodline to its limits. His body undergoes painful transformations as he struggles to contain the immense power. He then attempts to extend his influence across the entire world, but finds it too draining. Damon discovers a more efficient method by creating a network of blood tendrils across the planet, allowing the battlefield to supply the power. This new method overwhelms him, causing his body to tear apart just as a familiar voice addresses him.

Through the crimson haze, a familiar figure stood with his hands loosely at his sides.

“Aiden?” Damon snarled.

The friend smiled. “You look terrible.”

Damon’s fingers curled, and the blood surrounding him stirred in response. He wanted to rip the bastard’s head off right this instant but he could already feel several presences rapidly descending one after the other.

Lightning spread through the darkness behind Aiden, illuminating an enormous silver-blue body. Minnahithaya’s head emerged first, his long whiskers drifting toward the blood surrounding Damon. An elderly god stood upon his back, and farther behind, three more figures stepped through separate spatial openings.

Damon’s gaze moved between them. The pressure gathering around him left little room for optimism. They were all Gods every single one of them.

And it was not just these four. More started coming one after the other. The entire group who had visited Earth had once again arrived here. This time each one of them had their gaze locked onto Damon, completely 100% fixated on him.

And none looked particularly pleased to see him.

He had wanted to find more gods. Apparently, the universe had finally decided to be fucking generous.

The thing was… sooner or later he expected this to happen. But he just didn’t expect it so soon. It must be all thanks to this bastard’s interference.

Aiden smiled. “Did you miss me too much, my friend? I am here now. I am here to save you from this corruption that is rotting you from inside out.”

The bastard was casually chatting but the Gods who had arrived clearly had no plans to do so. Out of the twenty Gods who had shown up, five immediately started attacking. Damon felt the surrounding space stiffen. He reached for his teleportation skill and found nothing willing to open.

“Saving me takes twenty gods?” he asked, keeping his eyes on Aiden. “You should have brought more. I’m feeling particularly fucking corrupted today.”

Aiden’s smile remained, but he moved backward.

The very next moment five pillars of light struck him.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Space shattered and sent ripples outwards destroying several nearby worlds.

A woman wearing a green robe snorted and spoke. “There is no point talking to a corrupted. It is best to end this right here and now. After all, many of us are extremely busy.”

However, even as she spoke, she frowned and looked toward the center of the explosion. Light still churned through the shattered space, obscuring whatever remained of Damon. For several moments, she sensed nothing but the lingering power of their attacks.

Then something red shone within. The blood barrier collapsed revealing the very intact figure of Damon still standing inside.

“I have never seen a corrupted this strong!” The Goddess gasped.

“He must have committed countless atrocities to accumulate this much power,” another god said, his gaze sweeping over the blood dispersing around Damon. “Do not give him time to recover. Attack again.”

“He has both the blasphemous titles! God Killer and God Eater! That’s why he is so strong!” Another one muttered.

Aiden corrected them. “Be careful, my Gods. It is my humble theory that he had unlocked a special devouring ability which is allowing him to absorb far more than blood and mana. Flesh, souls, bloodline traits… perhaps even Origin Energy itself.”

Several of the gods turned toward him. The woman in green lowered her hands slightly, her gaze sharpening as she examined Damon again.

“Origin Energy?” she repeated.

“I cannot confirm the mechanism,” Aiden replied, inclining his head. “But his growth has been extraordinary. You saw what he was on Earth. Since then, he has killed and consumed a god, yet there are no signs that the foreign power is destroying him.”

Damon gave a harsh laugh. “Why stop there? Tell them what I like for breakfast too.”

Aiden ignored him.

“If he can assimilate it, then allowing him to wound you may be enough to strengthen him. I would advise against approaching him directly.”

The gods closest to Damon moved farther away.

He watched the distance increase and wanted to tear Aiden’s tongue out. Getting close enough to feed had been his best chance, however slim. Now even the woman who had seemed eager to finish him off was examining his tendrils from behind a newly formed barrier.

“Can the ability be extracted?” someone asked.

The question came from a thin man in dark robes near Minnahithaya’s flank. He had not participated in the first attack, but now his attention was fixed on Damon with an intensity that left little doubt about what he wanted.

Aiden paused before answering. “That would require him to be alive.”

“Absolutely not,” the elderly god said. “We came to destroy a corrupted, not bring one home.”

“We came to remove a threat,” the thin man replied. “Destroying something we do not understand may be unnecessarily wasteful.”

Damon glanced between them. They were discussing him as though he had already been dragged onto a table. He chuckled lightly. Exactly what he thought was going to happen was quickly unfolding in front of him.

“Did you see La Rocha? How could we ever have hidden ourselves from these many Gods?”

“Yes, Master. Your path was indeed the correct one.”

“So… are you ready?”

“Master… “

“I am starting now. Watch carefully and pick up anything interesting that drops. I don’t want to miss a single thing. This is it, buddy. This is the moment that will decide everything. Let’s go!”

While the others were distracted, Damon made his move. He only had one shot at this and he wanted to make it count. Without hesitation, he instantly split into five blood clones and appeared right next to five of the assembled Gods.

Before anyone could do anything, Damon activated a skill, a new skill that he acquired.

[Time Pause]

He did not have that much skill proficiency with the skill and the way he combined it with origin energy was also not perfect, but the execution still produced the desired effect.

Time slowed down for everyone else with Damon alone grinning wildly. The next instant, the five blood clones plunged their hands into the bodies of the five Gods. Sword like blood tendrils erupted from the blood clones started slashing at their targets.

In the blink of an eye an immense amount of origin energy was drained from the five gods before they could even attack.

The stolen power rushed through the connections between his clones, and Damon immediately fed a portion of it into Time Pause. The strain on his soul intensified, making all five bodies tremble, but the gods’ movements slowed again just as their hands began rising toward him.

He couldn’t maintain this for long. He could feel that much already, and he had no intention of wasting the opening by enjoying himself.

The tendrils inside the five gods spread farther, slicing through the channels carrying power toward their defenses. Whenever resistance gathered, Damon concentrated his Origin Energy at that point and forced his way through. Divine blood poured into him, carrying more of the power he had been so desperately chasing.

The woman in green managed to turn her eyes toward his clone. Her mouth moved painfully slowly, shaping what might have been a curse, but Damon tightened the strands around her heart before she could finish. The light gathering beneath her robes flickered and went out.

Beside Minnahithaya, the dark-robed man fared even worse. He had been preparing something in his right hand when Damon struck, and his fingers remained curled around a small black object. A blood tendril severed the hand at the wrist, sending it drifting away while several more pierced upward through his chest.

“La Rocha. That one.”

“I see it, Master.”

The severed hand vanished, along with the rings stripped from its fingers. Damon had already turned his attention back to feeding, drawing the five streams together without allowing any one clone to take more than it could contain.

However, this did not last long. A sharp crack ran through the space around Minnahithaya.

Damon felt it through the skill before he saw the lightning move. The enormous eel’s whiskers trembled, then began sweeping forward, forcing their way through the slowed time. Beside him, the elderly god’s staff brightened as pale inscriptions spread along its length.

They were breaking free.

Damon abandoned any attempt at careful extraction and pulled with everything he had.

The five gods convulsed. Their flesh shrank around his hands, and the defenses surrounding their cores collapsed in rapid succession. Power erupted through the wounds, but his tendrils were already there to catch it, wrapping around the exposed cores before they could escape or detonate.

For an instant, the hunger inside him became so fierce that he nearly forgot the danger. Then lightning reached the first clone.
