Cultivators who entered a mana-filled world collapsed due to their bodies' dependence on spiritual energy. Max, a genius, proposed using spirit stones and a magic artifact to create artificial spiritual energy zones. The alchemists, impressed by Max's insights, requested his help, despite the cultivators' unease. Max's experimental treatments significantly improved the cultivators' recovery and led him to discover a unique component in their bodies causing the adverse reactions.

"The dantian."

When everyone heard this, they couldn’t help looking confused since they had no idea what Max was referring to.

Though they knew what the dantian was, it wasn’t as if they saw it the same way as Max did.

Which was why they couldn’t understand what he meant when he referred to the dantian.

Max didn’t answer right away as it looked like he was gathering his thoughts, but then he suddenly said, "It’s simply because the dantian becomes essential to the cultivator once they gather it. It’s not like mana techniques where one just uses the mana to bathe the body."

It didn’t seem like most people understood this, but there were those that did.

These were the alchemist from the cultivation world and the researchers from the fantasy world.

Since they were in similar occupations, they could understand what Max was going for when he said this. But it still seemed like they had some issues with completely understanding what he meant.

Which was why they had to ask Max several more questions before finally figuring it out.

Once all of them figured it out, they came together to come up with an explanation that even laymen could understand.

It was only after all of this that everyone understood what Max had discovered.

But even if that was the case, it wasn’t as if this changed anything.

After all, it still meant that they had to use the same solution to solve this problem.

The bracelets with the spirit stones had been prepared, so the only thing left was to let the cultivators get used to using them.

However, Max didn’t do this the normal way.

"We need to go to a special environment."

Even though it didn’t seem like the cultivators agreed with him, they had no choice but to follow along since this was what had been decided on. He was the one that had come up with these bracelets, so Max was the one that had complete authority over them.

When we came back to the tunnel, the cultivators once again looked out of breath.

But that was only because Max didn’t allow them to release the bracelets even though they had them.

Instead, they had to wait until they were here before they were allowed to release the spiritual energy fields.

Only the moment that they released it, they found that there was something off about the spiritual energy fields that were around them. When they discovered this, they immediately looked at Max as if they wanted an explanation from him.

Max didn’t answer as he observed the spiritual energy fields that were around him.

The look on his face showed that he had discovered something that was clearly interesting to him, it was just that he wasn’t sharing this with anyone else.

It seemed like the cultivators were tempted to pull him out of this state, but I stopped them in the end. After all, I knew that Max wouldn’t lose himself like this unless it was something quite big.

So it was better to wait and see what it was that he had discovered.

Finally after a long silence, he said, "It seems like I was right."

Then turning to look at the cultivators, he asked, "You can tell that the spiritual energy field isn’t as strong as before, right?"

The cultivators slowly nodded to confirm this, but they still looked at him as if they were waiting for an explanation. They were depending on this spiritual energy field and if it wasn’t as good as it was advertised, they would have felt aggrieved putting up with everything that Max had put them through.

If that was the case, it wasn’t hard to imagine what they would want to do to him.

Max didn’t seem worried at all by the way that the cultivators were looking at him as he calmly said, "It’s not as if the mana will disappear just because you’re releasing the spiritual energy. This place is a place where mana and spiritual energy come together, but they don’t mix. Which means that if you release spiritual energy in this area, it isn’t as if the mana will disappear."

Slowly, the cultivators seemed to understand what he meant when he said this.

It also explained to them why the spiritual energy field felt weaker than it should have been.

But that still didn’t explain how they would solve this issue, so they glared at him once more.

"It’s very simple, you just have to acclimate."

It sounded like a simple answer with the way that Max said this, but none of the cultivators were able to understand what he meant by this.

"Just absorb the spiritual energy and ignore the mana."

Though he said it as if it was a simple thing, it took the cultivators several tries before they could even come close to doing this. But eventually, it seemed like they figured out the clue to doing this.

It was just that this wasn’t something that was that easy to do.

Just to come close to this, it had taken them several tries.

So if they wanted to learn how to do this, it would take some time.

However, they finally understood what Max meant by acclimate.

At the same time, they already knew that this was something that would happen when they reached the surface as well. It would be even stronger than in this place that at least had some spiritual energy.

So if they wanted to do this, they really had to practice.

After glaring at Max one more time for not making things more clear, they focused on practicing how to do this. It was as if they couldn’t be bothered with Max anymore with how they suddenly lost interest.

Not that Max cared that they reacted this way towards him, he was only interested in seeing how they absorbed the spiritual energy around them.

"It seems like it’ll take some more time before they’re able to accomplish this. Then this would be the right time to check something else."
